Just started 2 months ago after a 30 year break, retired early. 52 years old, immediately threw myself into lessons with the pro. I have nothing to gauge things from so no hang ups about losing distance. Actually gaining distance is my priority as I improve. Very much into fitness, with gym and tai chi. Fitness/strength training is so important after 50.
i am also 53 and just joined a club, just got my first hcp is 9.6, i was very surprised. i go to the driving range 1 time per week and play 2 times per week. scores are around 78-83 most weeks off the whites.
I am 63 and coming off a 12 year hiatus due to 6 major surgeries. I honestly never thought I would ever play again. I am still recovering from a 4th shoulder surgery amongst a few other things. I hit my first bucket of balls in June. I am currently a 16.7 index and lowering it slowly but surely. 6 our of my last 8 rounds have been in the 80's. The technology is so much better today than it was when I had to take the extended break. If my body holds up I hope to get back to high single digit handicap. Don't ever give up!
I'm 49 and been playing on and off for 20 years.....the one thing I'm now regretting, is not taking Golf more seriously until now. HCP of 30.7 isn't great, but I'm determined that by your age of 53, I'll be in single figures. 😊
@@ScratchAt50 From someone who is living it😉 Good thing though...retirement gives me more time to practice How's that? Glass is completely full now lol There's always a good thing out of bad 🤣🤣🤣

9.6 is impressive for your 1st handicap..
@@ScratchAt50 thank you. i have an over the top swing causing a fade/slice on bad ones, not turning at the waist enough, put weight on at 53:)
