I would like to tell Mr Hartman that I dragged my son to numerous protests. It started when he was really little. His father was a trumper, it could have gone either way. Happy to say that he is an established young man who believes in women’s rights to choose autonomy over their own body. Couldn’t be prouder of my son.
Don’t you love how he has involved his own children, and how he shows great parenting. He doesn’t expect his kids to be “perfect,” just to keep trying.
I burst into tears when I saw how compassionate the children were toward this couples disappointing experience. Emily was especially kind hearted. It gives me hope when I see kids that are that sweet. What an inspiring, wonderful story. Thank you.
These students are not fragile and didn't fall apart or feel victimized when hearing about racism from our past. Someone please show this to DeSantis and those who think like him.
We honestly and genuinely need more news like this in the world. Every single time I put on the news, 98% of what I see is all bad news and depressing news. I understand that some of the bad things that occur in today's society are out of our control but I wish we had a much more even balance of news coverage with kindhearted and inspirational messaging. I see stories like this, and all I can feel is happiness. It's incredible how moving this story was and is. We should all lead by example and become conduits for change and unity, not division and aggression. I know most of us are good and care, but we still have a lot of work to do especially now. If anyone got the chance to read this message, thank you. Stay safe, healthy, and much love to you.
I agree with you in theory. However, we need to know about the bad things happening and take action in the present. It is hard, but we can follow the example shown by these children. A little Kindness goes a long way. May someone be kind to you this day. And you be kind to someone else. We could start a revolution of kindness.
A wrong was made right by children that cared and wanted to do something to make it better. This reflects on the parents that are raising those children and the couple got to enjoy their long over honeymoon prior to him passing way. Thank you to everyone involved for helping make right that was wrong and spreading kindness which is so needed in today’s environment!!! Stay safe and be blessed…vote blue💙💙💙
Human Kindness there's never too much. Very uplifting story. Thank you CBS for recognizing compassion matters & needs to be seen & discussed. Make the world a better place.❤❤❤
I really connect with Emily, and I'm 50. I have deep empathy for other people and seeing her cry as a child was inspirational. I cry all the time at people's success, love, injustice, need, and I just want the world to be a better place. I truly believe that the Emily's of the world will make the biggest difference.
All kids can get along, they don't see anyone different in each other. But as they get older they start hearing that they are different from us. It's very sad. 😢😢😢😢😢
Kudos to these kids. All I remember of 5th grade ('87), is that were were expected to turn in our homework - and shut up. We were allowed to speak up (a little) during show-and-tell - and that was about it. Suffice it to say, that's what most Republicans want to go back to - with re-segregation as an added bonus.

"Activism doesn't guarantee results. But it does guarantee our democracy." Thank you beautiful children for caring about that.

We can never forget black history and just how important it be taught in schools. Racism unfortunately is still a problem in our country. 💙💙💙💙
@patriciagurwitz509 I agree 100%!! The racist hate must stop, it is long overdue!! Cannot wait to vote 💙💙😊
65 year old man here crying!
I teared up because of what these fifth graders did for this couple. I’m hopeful for our future because of kids like these. ❤

Fast-forward, 'remember the titans' absolutely excellent movie.
It's all about Empathy, folks. If you don't have that, you are not fully human. What's another word for empathy...oh yeh, 'woke.' Wake up.

Steve Hartman is so much like Mr Rogers. The kind soft tone. The way he teaches kindness.
