All those westside lifts with no range of motion and equipment that helps an unnecessarily large amount are multiply
Single ply does little for increasing the lifts and is great for injured lifters. Watch some single ply lifts vs multiply and you’ll see that single ply is still respectable (although not the same as raw.) you won’t see any high squats passed, or someone that can’t bench 400 raw benching 1000 lbs in single ply like you do multiply

Part of me appreciates the stones you need to have to put that kind of weight over your body... but at the same time, can we REALLY call that a bench? When you're deliberately shortening ROM, contorting your body to extreme degrees, and stacking gear upon gear in order to cheat the forces at play, you have to wonder at which point does the exercise of intent stop being just that? A sumo deadlift is closer to a regular deadlift than an equipped bench is to a regular bench. The fact that people like Sumner and this dude have raw benches almost HALF of their equipped benches tells you everything you need to know about the veracity of the lift. To take it to an absurd degree, equipped lifting might as well encompass mech exoskeletons and have results 10x what is humanly possible raw.
Again, it's impressive... but it's also ridiculous. Seems to be a form of ego lifting wrapped up in legitimisation.

      2. He did this in a single ply shirt meaning the shirt consists of one layer of material
      3. Jimmy is built to bench. Short thick arms and a big barrel chest equals a shorter range of motion which equals a bigger bench. Historically your heaviest benches have been produced by people with this body type.
      3. If he laid flat on the bench all loose and what not and benched this with the ROM you would prefer the weight would absolutely annihilate his shoulders

Dont shit on equipped lifting till you try it. Ive competed in both collegiate raw and equipped nationals. equipped adds so much more competitiveness to the sport. Raw competitions is only a matter of "welp that guys stronger than that guy." The amount of effort it takes to maintain your technique in a bench shirt is rediculous. It isnt just a rubber band that lifts the weight off your chest. Instead the shirt rips into your skin and muscles to distribute the weight. Holding good form when you have a 500lb bench in a shirt is way more complicated than any raw lift. TLDR: Equipped division adds more competitiveness to the sport rather than a simple whos stronger than who.
