Waldemar Tells The Story Of The Rococo | Before Bedtime (Full Series) | Perspective

- Опубліковано 1 тра 2024
- Waldemar Januszczak explores the Rococo's descent into madness. When you spend as much time as the Rococo did having fun and escaping reality, madness soon sets in. The 18th century is seen as the era of frivolity and enjoyment, but in an age of such decadence there was also the brutish satire of Hogarth, the mysterious masked figures of Longhi, the anguish of Messerschmidt and the depths of Goya's macabre genius.

Hello, I'm a Visual Arts student in high school and I am currently writing a 4,000 word essay on how the Rococo movment has influenced a fashion collection. I have to read an unhealthy amount of articles and papers and it can get exhausting and unmotivating. Perspective, and Waldemar I want to express how grateful I am for this video series. Waldemar clearly shows passion for the topic and is an amazing story teller. Waldemar, your passion is contangious and makes me excited to learn and listen to you. Thank you for giving me motivation to write my paper and placing excitment in my otherwise unflavourful research process. The video is wonderful and infromative and makes me want to write. Please continue creating videos of the same nature, the heart and soul that goes into them dosen't go unoticed. Thank you!
You are well written for high school...impressive.

Waldemar’s voice alone is pure music. Learning about art from you is indescribable joy. I wish you only greatness! Thank you.
Valdemar should have his own channel
He does, this one. And, it isn't that big of a deal, but his name starts with a 'W'.
Waldemar is art himself! So fantastic, Thank you for the great journey again
Thanks for taking us along
This is amazing. I still can't believe I can watch this for free. I used to purchase his videos but never regret cuz they have always been great in quality. Thanks god for his continuous works in youtube. So precious.
I agree, Waldemar's 1400-1900's documentaries are the best of the best - the Rococo and Baroque are my all time favorites and as an artist I have learned more from watching these videos than from six years in college as an art student.
I never gave much thought to the Rococo period. Pastry rather than art. Thank you, Januszczak, for opening my eyes.
The repose on the sofa mimicking the "pink-bottomed godesses" broke me up. 😂 Art, history and humor is such a winning combination. So grateful!
what an unseen treasure this series is. only 28k views and 475 likes. crazy. Thank you Waldemar, you reignited my interest in art as a whole
I had very little interest in art until I started watching Waldemar. Hopefully he makes more!
Waldemar has ruined me for other art history videos. Yet I still can't conceive his last name.
Not to worry, when it was on the actual television millions saw it. Its a BBC show, not some internet clip.

Waldemar, I snorted coffee out my nose when you posed on the fainting couch. I'm yours forever.
Three hours excellent storytelling by Waldemar. What a treat! 🧡💛💚💙💜🤎
I've watched it 6 times! He's hot...what can I say? Older men still do it for me at 53..,
Another great series from the fantastic, Waldemar. He's a great presenter/host & it's always a treat to see new uploads featuring him.
No words to describe how thorough, informative and excellent your storytelling is. Thank you for putting together such an amazing series!
At 2:52:17. I wish Waldemar had shown one of the most arresting paintings I've ever seen. It's from Goya. It's rather obscure. It's part of the "Black Paintings" Goya had painted in the interior of his house. It's of a little dog, its head above this vast yellow space that looks like quicksand. It's the saddest, most terrifying portrayal of an animal I've ever seen. I almost cried when I saw it. To me it portrayed the emptiness of an indifferent, callous universe drowning us all, represented by a desperate, little dog. Incredibly moving is all I have to say. I need to see it in real life.
I just discovered this channel and i am addicted from the first 30 seconds.
I can't quit watching this documentary.
I have always wanted to learn the basic history of art and searched for the same . However, this particular channel has become an immense help to me. Thank you
I made the mistake of actually watching this before bedtime!!
How I love his job! He is an amazing storyteller. It is one of my biggest dreams. Tells stories like him! ❤
Mr WALDEMAR I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH ITS SOMETIMES A REFRESHER TO MY ANCIENT MIND. THANK U. 😃
Waldemar is such a beast I want to see his newest stuff I beg you.
then watch the BBC, where these shows were aired 10 years ago.
a fascinating show, love Waldemar's telling...Brilliant character he is...! Much thanks indeed !
Not going to lie the first time i saw Waldemar i totoally misjudged him and thought he looked like the kind of guy that gets into drunken fights at football games. "Whats THIS guy going to teach me about art?" Boy was i wrong to have done that! His videos are now some of my absolute favorite on youtube.
what, you cant be an art history lover and get in fights at football matches? Most artists were fighters and killers, its just the critics and gallery owners that are soft.
Enjoy all your stories - so informative and such a great perspective and I always learn something!! Thank you!
How extremely fascinating are all your art series, how bewitching, delightful and at the same time how greatly educational! I cannot stop watching them one by one over and over again. And then I return to those which I haven't seen for a while and start this magic from the beginning. But my appetite for your stories is never satisfied and only grows bigger.
Waldemar is perfect for the job. Love watching him with art documentaries. 💯💯👏👏. Excellent documentary 👏💯
This was just marvelous. Thank you, Waldemar, for supplying the knowledge of art history that my art college never did.
Always a pleasure.
Bravo again and again............ Thanks!
Hey Perspective!
Next we want to be able to see the following featuring Waldemar Januszczak:
Toulouse-Lautrec: The Full Story
Barromini the dark side of baroque
The lost supper
Here comes the summer the undertones story
The Michelangelo Code: Lost Secrets of the Sistine Chapel
Handmade in Bolton
Has he covered these topics?
@@kyleanuar9090 Yes! They are productions in which he is featured.
It’s the only documentaries that I can’t find online, I’ve seen everything else he have made.
Toulouse-Lautrec: the full story can however be rented at Vimeo for 14 dollars, But I don’t want to pay that much
Love this guy and his art history lessons
Thank you for the unforgettable show. It's an authentic classic.
thank you once again. ❤
Your sweetness of spirit and kindness of heart always come through in your vlogs. Thank you for consistently putting peaceful vibes into the world.
The “Fairy” piece is amazing. With it, you’ve added yet another beautiful thing to the world.
❤❤❤
My only criticism is the audio. Music drowns out Waldemar.
sound editing on part 3 is terrible. Waldemar can not be heard above the music slapped onto him
That is a product of converting the file format for UA-cam.
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING....
Love your shows and love your style.
Wow. What a story!
Loved the couch modelling so funny oh and the socks ha ha.
Love this series and Waldemar is just the greatest. I notice in Episode 3 that his narration audio track seems to be mixed way too low for the background music - right? Could (in theory) just be my sound bar acting up at least inside of the first 10 min or so of episode 3 I was unable to hear the narration well enough......
Beautifully presented!
Three people whose voices whatever they talk even it is shit sound like heaven, David Attenborough, David Starkey and Waldemar Januszczak
I can’t help but think that Marie’s sentiments were misconstrued in her realization of the “fake village”. It’s well known how much of a doting mother Marie was to her children. The village, as I’ve come to see it, was more realistically a humble gesture to her children, so that they may experience moments of a more wholesome, fulfilled upbringing.
I’m enjoying my journey with your films. Thank you.
Thanks
The sound mixing is atrocious! Can't hear the great Waldemar over the music soundtrack. Still, a great series and I'm a huge fan of what he is doing😀
Great writing maestro!
Rococo and Waldemar! ❤Nice!!
I look forward to your videos
This is the best video.
Venice is more beautiful in reality than in any Canaletto painting. He did not add light - if anything he toned it down to suit moody northern tastes. It was quite strange how Waldemar’ own footage disproved his words.
They expired the black death
Very artistic said
What Mother killed? English are.
As an avid photographer I agree that the light in Venice is magical! That is an interesting point. Wonder what Waldemar would say if asked?
Tell me about that pearl again, big Daddy! OOP! I get excited when Waldemar gets excited....happy happy happy
I watched EVERYTHING waldemar has on YT during Covid. Please upload newer projects lol
How do get access to all the amazing artwork? I mean all the places you get into looking over the scope of your videos. Especially like the one where you & your mates to some largely unpopulated banana republic like place with one guys statues, face draped over buildings.
Hey man, if you happen to see this.. I would love to see you visit Sarasota Florida at the Ringling. They adopted so many styles. I would love to know the history. Thanks
I'm painting my ceiling and learning to sew dresses.
Lol! I needed the pi-ing on the walls!
Wademat you are great ...

Rococo period is the height of European culture
have a shot everytime he says Rococo
Canaletto would love filters 😉😄
1:15:30 why would not 'sans souci "simply be: "without worry", kind of like the modern expression " no worries " or something indicating pleasantness like that, am i missing something . . it doesn't seem that odd to me, not saying it could be, of course, moreso complex for sure, but " without worry "just seems so obvious as a kind of welcoming banner
the music overlay drowns out your voice.
Why is the music so loud in the third part, I literally can’t hear a thing Wally is saying
💐
Did the sound mixer take the day off for the Hogarth episode? The sound was fine until then, then the music has to play all over the narration so you can’t hear the guy.
The music is too loud.
It is from a problem in converting the file format for UA-cam
@@kathyjohnson2043 Oh, I see.
Why is the background music in these docs always way too loud?
In the 17th and 18th century Chinese porcelain was worth more then its weight in gold.
Without little rod, worry stops.
SANS, SOUCI.
Very clever 🤣🤣🤣🤣
1:08:36 end of perfect happiness
The sound mix is way off in the last part
Music is too loud.
THIS GUY IS WEIRD AS HECK BUT I LIKE HIM HE HAS STYLE!!!
Rococo is all so very Lovejoy
Just an FYI, the wonderful music that accompanies the series is all Baroque, not Rococo which is lovely music but not as well known. And those golden statues aren't depicted with invented instruments; just poorly re-created ones, about as far off as all those Rhinos.
Wouldn't the Sans Souci code mean "without the little rod, you stop here" (ie at the front door - women shall not enter) ?
Şahane anlatım. Virgül! :)

Mate - don't forget the Austrian Hapsburgs were also in on the partitioning of Poland, along with the Prussians & Russians...
I wonder how much of the rococo finery and frippery, enchanted gardens, pleasure and leisure, freedom and happiness, filtered down to the ordinary citizen? Not much I suspect. Likely in their rude and harsh lives they had hardly an inkling of the joys of that lifestyle. But then history is owned by those of wealth and power.
Being setup am here.

Rest In Peace Rococo.
isnt it jacobyte kilobyte megabyte gigabyte or is it terabyte jacobyte?
Interesting Rococo lasted until the revolutionary age.
Low and behold
A commercial every four minutes is too much.

I would never have guessed you were Polish.
I realise this was made 10-15 years ago and not by Perspective who simply own the rights, so not much to be done now, but I have to say, the audio mixing on Episode 3 is truly abominable.
Being salacious.
I take umbrage
