Luckily this property was out in the woods away from neighbours with lawn chairs but I decided to share it online which should reach them someday. Haha Thanks for watching!
Don't do what I do but here I'll show you what I do. lol That's fun times right there. You should keep a couple trailer axles around with wheels on them. They can be put under about anything and make moving stuff around easier. :)
Large casters from Harbor Freight attached to the front support there with eithwr square or U shaped clamps works wonders. You can even use a 4x4 so that you can slide the casters/clamps in or out depending on the need. Keep it around for the next loading.
That's a good idea. On this job I was in a rush because I had a rental trailer that was due back early the next morning and the next customer was to pick it up at 9am, so not even my plan to put the bar and donut spares was in the cards. Oh well, it worked out and I made the drop off time with two minutes to spare! Thanks for watching Michael.
This looked exactly like the fun we have moving stuff around with much the same results, it is a struggle. I think your engine crane would have worked the first time if you also had a chain from the front of the car to the bottom of the crane post. We have put a chain through the top of the doors before and used a crane to lift the complete car before reversing the trailer under it. The problem with this is the trailer wheels get in the way :-) Our crane is well travelled, we will often lift something with it and then use a tractor to drag the crane with the object still on the hook
That's a good idea to attach the crane frame to the vehicle so it gets pulled along at the same speed instead of tipping over. I was a bit rushed for time this particular evening. It was about two hours before dark when I began and I had to have the vehicle and all the rest of the stuff loaded for an early morning trip to the junkyard and to return the rental trailer. Given more time, I probably would have installed the pipe with muffler clamps and attached two temporary wheels up front. As always, I find something to have fun with and share with my subscribers, warts and all. Thanks for your thoughtful comments.
I had a sore back after this job from dragging that heavy crane on the gravel. They are made for use on a smooth concrete shop floor not outside in the rocks. But, that's what I had to work with and I got it done...Thanks for watching and commenting, Dave, I hope to see you here again, and I'll go over and check out your channel now too. Cheers
There's just no really graceful way to get things like that done when you don't have a lot of gear. You have to think and try things. Brains beats money. You got it loaded and all considered it seems to have gone alright. If you had a couple young Bulls there to help, that's a toss up. The extra muscle definitely comes in handy but if one guy doesn't listen well or someone trips it can get bad. I'm glad to have my tractor around for stuff like this. Hopefully you can bring yours around too. It's a real game changer.
It was a GONG SHOW from the start. This was the second vehicle I loaded that day to haul away but the first one went on the trailer without too much trouble but it was on 4 wheels. It was late in the day when I started to load the second one and I had to get it loaded. The axle idea may have worked but it would have taken probably an hour to drill and mount it (maybe more) so I opted for this method. In hindsight, I should have used my helicopter for loading it haha The 580CK would certainly have been better than the crane but that's what happened. I hope it brought a smile to your face and provided some entertainment--that's why I'm here.
How's she goin'? Well I have to admit, I was laughing through this video!!! But when it comes right down to it, it would have been a fun afternoon getting the car on the trailer. LOL You had some good ideas on how to do it but they didn't work. But in the end, there's the car on the trailer. The big cleanup day is a success!!! Pretty impressive. Happy Canada Day and take care!!!
I had to get the trailer back the next morning or pay for an extra day, so I was determined to get that old wreck on there somehow. I think (and know) that the crane supporting the front would have worked like a dream on a smooth concrete floor but in gravel it became a Gong show that made everyone laugh, even me. I learned long ago not to get too upset when working at things that go wrong...patience always wins the day. And a sense of humour goes miles in smoothing over the rough spots. Glad to put a smile on your face, Mike and nanny. Happy Canada Day to you too!
Ha Ha Ha Yes, I know!! I also get rotten tomatoes thrown at me when I drive past a U-Haul rental location these days! LOL It was fun though to show you guys this load and move.
This is one of those situations where the neighbours grab a 6 pack and a lawn chair and get entertained for the afternoon 🤣🤣
Take care Craig🍻
