  • Whats's up everyone,
I get a lot of people asking about gear set ups and tuning so decided to make a quick dummies guide to tail shimming. In this video I will be using a -.5/0/+.5 tail shim to show the differences that they make in the same session. Since there is so much good content out there explaining what tail shims do I decided to say how they change the feel of a foil. Also this one is for all the prone foilers out there. Anyway hope you enjoy and if you dig please give a like and a subscribe if you can.

it's all compromise, i tried without top plate shim on my crappy setup and it was unrideable and i rided like that few month board dropping instantly if i dont lean back, now i found the right setup and it's so much more confortable to have front foot, im full forward on my setup there is not other choice. i used a fone wing rocket-s to surf foil recently had to move it a little bit forward to improve take off as i was missing a lot of wave, take off was good but front foot was too huge ! it's not easy to find the right setup ! btw now let try a top plate shim tutorial haha 😅

@@youdigsurf it’s also to let people know that if they have a hard time getting on foil to shim positive and if they are getting over foiled then shim negative. Also and I am not sure I explained it what I mean is if you are at 2.5 positive when I say shim negative I don’t mean to go to a negative shim. I mean lower the angle to a positive 1. Changing the angle too much will not be a
      Fun experience

What is the difference in angle of front and back foil without shim? (or 0° shim) I'm expecting that the "+" shim increases the angle, and the "-" shim decreases the angle. Not that the "-" indicates a negative angle between front and back foil...

Omen is pretty neutral at 0 but every brand has their own stock preference whether it be more front foot or back foot. Also keep in mind some prone boards have angle built into the board. With that you can either keep it as is or base plate shim. I will be doing a baseplate shim video as well.

Any reason for not using a leash?

@@karimodriscoll3209 that’s a fair question. If there is no one out and I am sticking in an inhabited area I usually won’t wear a leash because I have gotten hit more times without one.
