the fact that some of them feel like the drug scandal is bigger than the burning sun scandal makes me sad because it means YG got his way... he really did his best to try and cover it up
YG ent was not involved in Burning sun scandal, heck Seungri is not even being investigated on the shitty things that happened anymore because he is not the owner or anything and has been proven to have no link to them (btw it's mostly employees who did those as in a lot of clubs not only in gangnam but i mean everywhere in this world, but are others clubs being investigated ? No because y'all focus on Seungri while being deviated from real powerful people by media but who cares right ?). I have nothing against you or those who liked your comment but can y'all just stop being naive, the real big fishes of the entertainment are everywhere not just YG, and they are not the one you hear and see on gossip media covers.
Soru7 you need to calm down because i can’t take you seriously with all those trash insults 💀 anyway, i worded my comment pretty bad, but what i was trying to do was point out how much everyone discussed the drug scandal more than a scandal about sexual abuse. i am aware things with seungri got cleared up and i know him and yg aren’t the masterminds behind it.
LOLandCIE yes, i know yg wasn’t involved and things with seungri got cleared bc of lack of evidence even tho the investigation is still going on. i also am aware that it’s more powerful people behind it. i worded my comment badly, i was trying to point out how much everyone (in this video at least) seems to be more focused on a drug scandal than burning sun.

Media are one thing but by putting it like in your first comment you and other people words have massive weight on where the attention is going and you might think you doing the right thing but actually you're helping the guilty getting away faster (for example one of the sexual harasser even had the guts to cry and made people pity him on tv while seungri was taking the full force of the scandal a few months back, now he's going to jail but still a few knows his name and seungri is still free but lost everything. And sadly this whole thing have so much more examples like that...). Anyway I personally don't insult you, just take it as a response to the majority of comments we see around about YG. This whole thing makes me more sad than angry but I can understand the anger tho

Nothing is going to change with the new CEO because she’s been there since forever. Not only that, but YG is still in power so I doubt that the company will change at all
And the fact that they chose woman as CEO, it seem just for PR decision to recover their image that being affected by burning sun scandal. The new CEO even being there since forever, i bet she already know whats going on in YG even the shady one.
I think they meant at the moment. The BS scandal has been going on for such a long time and has mostly died down until the trials start, so this issue was targeted more at the entirety of YG rather than just YG, Seungri, and these other celebs/CEOs.
What? The judge denied an arrest warrant, basically, you don't even have a case against him. Drugs? Where is the proof? Text messages can't be used as proofs, study some law. And the drugs, here, take a good look at history. Michael Jackson child sexual abuse, R kelly child sexual abuse. The Beatles using LSD, a drug to write songs. Demi Lovato drugs issue Steve Jobs using LSD and Marijuana extensively during his youth Drake used drugs, cocaine Mel B from Spice Girls admitting to using drugs. I understand that they are a conservative country but they seemed more outraged by the drug scandal then the actual prostitution scandal and that says alot about the country and their views on women. Kinda turned me off from kpop for a while I’m just now catching up on all the news since stopping tr listening to kpop in March.
Please, read this before you judge It shouldn't break your heart or make you angry that Hanbin purchased the drugs, what should break your heart and make you angry is the fact that he thought it would make things better and that it was the only remaining way to feel better. Can you even imagine how much pain he must've been in that he had to turn to drugs which in the end he didn't even consume? Hanbin is the pillar of iKON, the body and the soul of it, our leader and our boys' leader; sometimes he's naggy or strict, but still loves his members so much and would do anything for them. The sad thing is that when iKON suceeds, success is divided onto all the members, but when they aren't doing so great, all the blame falls onto Hanbin's back. Can you even imagine the amount of difficulties, hate and stress he would face everyday and everyone who listened to his songs should know that even tho most of them sound bright, cheery and upbeat have extremely deep but depressive lyrics. Anyone who took a bit more interest in him would know how much work he does, not only for iKON, but also for other idols and that this led to sleep deprivation, that along with the pressure he has to put up with on a daily basis (he himself even stated that Yang Hyun Suk is the scariest person in the world and he has to face him every single day), the fact that he's lonely (he said it himself and said that he never had a girlfriend because he was always so busy), and the fact that he's always been prone to depressive behaviour lead to all of this. Not everyone has that same tolerance for physical pain and not everyone has the same tolerance for emotional pain. Hanbin is a very sensitive person, he always has been, but now he needs our support more than he ever did, we need to show him how much we love and cherish him and if you can't get over what he did, then at least don't send him hate, he deserves none of it. Yang Hyun Suk cancelled him in a matter of hours, without trying to help him with his mental health which just shows how he was milking the cow for as long as he could. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
I am crying right now. I always say to my bestie that hanbin's songs are so sad and shows sign of depression even if he manages to give them nice beats and sounds. Almost al his songs are about failure, loneliness, never known love .I really hope he is not depressing . I just hope he is doing good healthy and proud cause for us he is the one and only. For me there is not a denial, even if he took those drugs that wont change the fact that he is one of a kind. Take care b.i
This is really sad. They dont even have enough evidence about Hanbin’s case. The things is , thinking about drugs is not a crime but they treat B.I as one. This is very disappointing. I come to appreciate Kpop because of Hanbin’s music and how he amazingly express himself with his lyrics. As a person who advocates mental health what happen to B.I is very sad. Lets just pray that people will come to realize that their are other bigger things than distroying a young adult life. 😥
Yes, you are right. We should see from both sides. It s sad to watch people judging others so easily. We live, we make mistake, we learn from it, help each other. It s just pissing me off that one of the people being interviewed said that YG should disappear, it s not a smart solution I think.
Thats not how shareholders work especially even they hold big portion.. they just own below 20% of total share.. to control the company they need own 51% of total shares.. The company itself can choose want to take the shares for him or not.. its all depend on investor if there any investor could invest big money in YG or not..
It would've been beneficial if the interviewees were asked to elaborate a bit more on YG scandals which led to current situation (instead of just focusing on the most recent one with drugs). There are probably some people watching this video who have no idea about the whole Burning Sun situation so they won't really understand what all of this is about.
AF they can just do research it's really not hard since there are a lot of videos about it, besides they did make a video about the Burning Sun scandal so I don't see the problem here
Assuming you read the title before you clicked on the video, it can be assumed that Asian Boss knows the great majority of their viewers presumably young Asians, are aware of the scandal. Plus, there is plenty coverage on the scandal itself. Why would you ask an interviewee what happened rather than their opinion if they were not directly involved? Comes off a little disingenuous and could possibly generate misinformation.
@@Maria-zc4nn I mean, the point of these Asian Boss videos is that you get to know more about the things you already know a bit about or you find out about something you had no knowledge of. @@Disconcerned Its just asking what the previous scandals were about, I dont think asian boss wouldve included answers that would spread misinformation - it serves no purpose. Dont you think people directly involved in the scandal would provide more subjective view? Cheers from Europe!)

I feel bad for the artists, the employees, the shareholders, all the ones that never did anything bad other than work or trust in this man and his company. There are bad ppl in the company but NOT all of them. In biz school you learn that bad work culture always starts from the very top And they should have appointed someone not from YG to be the new CEO. She has worked with them for almost 2 decades and probably knows all the deepest secrets of the company. Whats to say that she won’t just continue the status quo at the company without making actual significant changes. Also, to that person who mentioned BTS at the end, don’t worry hun, my boys will always be careful.
The new lady CEO is more of a puppet mouthpiece anyway. Yang Hyun Suk still gets to make and finalize the big decisions behind the scenes, like that man said in 1:21 "it was just for (public) show".

I feel bad for Hanbin. He was young and went into depression. I'm not saying what he did was right even if he just attempted or had the thought of it but we all went into a dark place at one point of our lives and we tend to lose our rational thinking. We just wanted to run and escape. Seungri on the other hand is very aware of what he did but shows no remorse or sincerity of feeling bad being involved in illegal stuff. Don't blame the artists just because of some bad people in the agency. They are just trying to make a living too. They may or may not know something is happening around them. They may just also trying to stay away from this headache and letting things takes its course.

I got attacked for basically saying the same thing. Korea is so modern and unique but they still have one foot in the past. I really think most western countries are more surprised at the heavy handed methods that they use with very minor drug usage. The politics around the Burning Sun investigation was outrageous. It's so sad that YG entertainment is going through those hardships, but it kind of feels that it is mr.Yang's fault, he gives his idols a lot of freedom after fame and also when they are trainees he's really hard on them. Look at SM they are always hard, before and after fame, JYP is actually balanced, not to hard before fame so the idols do have some freedom, and when they are famous they are still having some balance in everything.
It's the easiest thing to blame the drug users, dealers, etc., but perhaps the most productive thing to do is reflect and take action upon why these people are taking drugs in the first place, when the odds are completely against them in South Korea and the stakes are so high.
Unfortunately YG Ent. isn't going to allow them to leave. Especially with Lee-Hi's new title track release, AKMU's finally back from the army after a long wait.

Its true that only those idols who got caught will suffer (and their fans too)and probably other popular idols who arent caught will stay popular as they are cause their management know now how to be careful and will cover up all the things that needs to be covered up. Their career must go on. Unless someone, who is fearless, cant be bought with money, power or fame, would drop the bomb in one go.

I still love all YG artist. Nothing has changed. of course, they have to be held responsible for what they did but that does not mean we can't listen to their music. I am not going to stop listening to Winner, or GD. I do hope that they change the way they manage their company. There must be a reason why these artist are trying to use drugs or have used. As for Seungri, I always believed that there was something fishy about him. That is why he was always my least favorite. I don't know, there was always a weird vibe about him since the beginning.
They mostly talk abt the drugs but i think the most shocking scandal is the "Burning Sun" one. It's a shame bc the good image of the talented artists, who did nothing, will be damaged now... thank you for this. I've been so curious and there isn't much content in english about how koreans are feeling. Following gets long so.....thanks for reading =) I agree at 2:08. BI's INTENT. intent doesn't mean execution. Sure he admits to smoking MJ in that conversation but it's not like it's proof of having done LSD. If anything, the other person whom we know is in this conversation should be suspected of possession if not having actually being a drug dealer who has connections to another drug dealer or supplier. And same man 5:34, thank you for not hating by association. 5:14 is tricky. if YG is able to jump back, those who stuck with the company and didn't jump ship or those who join despite could be rewarded in the long haul. it's a gamble if YG is able to jump back. Agree with 6:21 6:37, I didn't know that such a petition was in the works! that's so unfair to the artists and employees who have nothing to do with this. so unfair! 8:39 oh, how innocent to think that. So YG has a new CEO who is a woman. However I hear this woman is close knit with YHS and his family. I only knew YHS has 13% of shares but I didn't know that his family are collectively the majority share holders. Even if they aren't, as long as they hold a large chunk collectively, as that one interviewee said, they can sway the decisions. As for repercussions, I just watched a video regarding the birth of kpop and the importance of Seo Taiji (and Boys). YHS was one of the boys and having created YG Ent, YG Ent is very significant to the kpop industry. Koreans seem to have a different sort of treatment to their kpop idols; at least to me it seems that way, like the public shaming and knet scene is quite frightening. The kpop artist are literally idolized held to a higher standard-which understandably is due to the nature of becoming a public figure-- it's hard to say how the industry will shift and how much YG Ent will change. The tabloids, dispatch and others will desperately try to dig up the next big scandal and other secrets in the industry. Burning Sun has been going for months and with the repercussions that have happened to JJY and Park Yoo Chun, companies will crack down on their artists and idols, erasing as much evidence as they can. This can lead to increasing amount of scandals or the dark side of Kpop will get more clandestine. Many of the artists I am a fan of are and were YG (last year seemed to be both a good and bad year for YG too - losing artists but also amazing comebacks from YG artists). Perhaps if YG survives, they'll just be more careful and adopt more rules like JYP and SM. Will they lose their artistic freedoms that makes them YG? A middle ground can exist. Take action to improve management YG Ent.

Please, read this before you judge
It shouldn't break your heart or make you angry that Hanbin purchased the drugs, what should break your heart and make you angry is the fact that he thought it would make things better and that it was the only remaining way to feel better.

Because koreans have a holier than thou expectation from their idols. As if they're Saints that could sing
The CEO is now a woman, yet Yang still has the majority of actions of YG, that still gives him enough power to take important decisions about YG.
There's disperemcies between CEO position and and founder/owner. CEO still abide by shareholders decisions and what not.
Same with SM, Lee Soo Man may no longer the CEO, but he still do the decisions. Its really just for PR.
Thats not how shareholders work especially even they hold big portion.. they just own below 20% of total share.. to control the company they need own 51% of total shares.. The company itself can choose want to take the shares for him or not.. its all depend on investor if there any investor could invest big money in YG or not..
Ok. Your point?
That women is just a model/face for the company.

The women they made the CEO was around for all of the scandals. I don't trust her. I thought yg was overly controlling not a loose company. The fault is with the company as well as with the idols, why did the idols need to take these drugs? Drugs are taken to escape from life for a bit, so why did these idols need/feel like they deeded to escape that is the question no one is asking.
The thing is, not only idols take this drugs. Ordinary people did it too. The point is, if ordinary ppl get punished for caught dealing with drugs, idols need to get the same treatment.

kymberli61 exploits them? When they are trainees they don't have a contract, if they can't take it then they should give up and that's it. Nobody is forcing them.
I got attacked for basically saying the same thing. Korea is so modern and unique but they still have one foot in the past. I really think most western countries are more surprised at the heavy handed methods that they use with very minor drug usage. The politics around the Burning Sun investigation was outrageous. They jailed the one sex offenxer and swept a lot of police corruption and VIP connections under the rug. I think Seungri got lucky. I think too many people in high places were involved.
5:30 i love u man, thank u for still believing in YG and its artists 💗
