i've met billy several times over the years and he's as nice as he is talented
I would say you did. He is the nicest out there
Billy is one of the most talented and nicest musicians out there. He has so much fun doing what he does, just radiates positive energy!
He is a great guy
Can’t agree more
It's good to know that the heir apparent of John entwhistle caries on for us,long live Billy Sheehan,so much to learn,so little time, so much 😊
Yes sir
Billy showed me that tapping technique on my 18th birthday. A friend managed to get me a 10 minute lesson with Billy after a show, and this video kind of helped me relive that. Thank you.
Philosopher Prince glad you enjoyed the video. I should mention that Billy and Richie Kotzen will be back on our radio show this Monday (6/16) live on air. You should listen in.
sillennium I'll take you up on that, it's a good show.
Philosopher Prince did you end up catching the show? I also posted two new videos with Billy from Monday. Check them out.
sillennium
I was not able to catch the live airing, but I did download a few mp3s of your show. The one that you posted in the description here, and one with Richie Kotzen from November. Though I couldn't find an mp3 of the show from the 16th. Will that be up soon? Again, thank you.
Philosopher Prince you can get the link from my recent video from Monday's show: ua-cam.com/video/JJ3pNnv-sQQ/v-deo.html You will enjoy that video and make sure to watch the ***** shots when Billy bends his neck.
Billy is a complete original- talk about someone who forged his own voice, and is still on top of his game-- love it!!!
he is a great player and a great person for sure
@Zx9Rdan, it was an honor to have Billy on our show. Hopefully we will be getting him back in the future.
What a cool dude 🎉. And obviously monster, musician. He’s so right you play parts and then you go back and learn them .
For sure!
Billy is a great musician, an award-winning Maestro!
Roman MAMAEV yes he is!
straight out the gate, such a classy dude!!!! Love Billy Sheehan!!!!!
Yes he is
Billy - you are amazing and seek to be a truly fun, friendly and sharing guy! Thanks for all of that!
Thx for watching
Billy ALWAYS sounds good.
Muppio yes he does!
hell yes he does!
Just pure talent.
For sure
I love this guy and what a deep voice !
JudgeFredd Me too, this guy rocks!
Billy is totally the Man! I've always like his bass playing, but in Winery Dogs we really get to see him shine! He seems like a totally cool dude. I would love to just once jam with him. Great back up singer also!
+jimorocks Billy is authentic bad ass in my opinion.
@Vtxrider1800r, he truly is amazing. A Great guy to hang with on the show, and I hope that we can have him back again.
@Don Kelley, thanks for stopping by. Billy is an incredible person and crazy insane good player too.
haha, "And that was a little messy" YEEAA RIGHT Billy.... you are such a great musician, hard working gifted man, and what a great attitude. You have the qualities of the classical musicians I work with more than the rock stars, yet you're a rock legend. I tip my hat to you, sir!
Nice
Brilliant. Especially the last thing he said: "…and then forget about that completely and then do music"
Rock on
incredible !!
Great close-ups!
Thx
@Sh4gr444th, thanks for stopping by!
Genius.
Yes sir
Guitarists stole slapping and thumping from the bassists. The bassists steal sweeping and tapping from the guitarists! XD
Nice
wow mindblowing bassplaying skills
Yes
Rock solid left hand 6:44
hell yeah
@Ander Haave, Billy is the best!
And Sheehan says he's not a musician.. I've heard that quote.. He's an amazing musician..
He is for sure.
Billy hit it on the head. Take a piece at a time. That's the key to learning overwhelming tunes.
True
True Pro! He also cares about music and people, meaning he's not a robot hehe! :D
totally agreed!
Not just amazing skill but attitude. Following his career for years and got to jam with him once in Boston. Playing and talking to him was equally a blast. Just by saying here they are guys who can do what he can do shows the lack of ego. I think they TRY to do what he can do.....
He is awesome
I can see Billy’s signature pedal in the background 😉
Yes he used it that night. I am sure he uses it when he doesn't have his signature two amp setup available
That's my goal.
Do anything I can imagine!
Darryl Stevens Thanks for watching, don't forget to subscribe.
The pedal is EBS Billy Sheenan Signature Pedal
MEGADRIVE Jeroi yes it is!
I sit and practice unplugged watching tv till some says something, lol.
Go for it
@Marcos Diaz, that is Billy's signature pedal from EBS if that is what you are asking?
it's easy to pick and tap the strings on the low end of the fretboard with your left hand, you just have to tap it and it's gonna sound quite loud.
Madarax Uchiha thanks for watching.
No worries, he's such a great bass player.
He can do anything shredder guitarist can do it - .. That's blow my mind.. 😱
I asked Billy if that dueling that he and Steve would do in Concert was planned or if they were just improving. They didn't plan it, they just duped each other, which is amazing since he has 50% less strings and no Whammy
He gets more than 4 strings worth of notes, though, lol. He has a hip shot on the E, so he can drop it to D then bend the neck to get all the way down to a B (the open 5th string on a 5 string bass), and with those scalloped frets bend waaaay up there to an F# and maybe even a G. That's before you even get to the harmonics and pinches...lol
Oh my god... Billy is a human...
No he isn't lol
Wow! I certainly wish the "Dogs" would do an instrumental album, or at least a few long pieces. Kotzen is a very good singer, but I find myself wishing the instrumental parts were longer.
Now, I need to watch more Sheehan stuff. And I don't play bass!! Awesome video!
Hmmm i like how they do it now
what kind of rig was Billy using for this...still seems to have that signature tone! Was he plugged into both pickups...what are the pedals behind him...what kind of amp?
citizzencain The pedal was his sig pedal from EBS, and he was using both plugs into the same amp.
citizzencain Oh an he was using the 5 knob compressor from MXR too.
Hartke amp?
citizzencain yes it was a hartke, one of the smaller combos around 200 bucks or so.
3:30 dafuq ,he is bassist but , he's even better than most of guitarist
True
@Kyprios1, maybe...but seriously did you see the stuff he did on that bass... I don't think he is human, he is just trying to seem human for us all :)
Is Billy using some sort of kill switch?
Like on a pedal?
SDRockman I don't believe he is. His pedal he is using only sends his signal as clean to one amp and dirty to another.
The first time I ever seen Billy make a mistake lol.
It probably happens all the time he just owns it so we never know
that pedals used billy ??
Ok
Billy Sheehan as a young Bassist, did people lose sewing thimbles? Have you ever played your Bass with sewing thimbles?
You would have to ask Billy that question.
man hes a fucking god lol
Christopher Fish he is amazing for sure!
I have never warmed to his tone...
smrtaxe thanks for stopping by
GOOTENAGEN thanks for stopping by, don't forget to subscribe.
Is there hope for bassists who don't sing at all to have a good career? I can imagine they get hired much less based on that alone.
Hard to say
I don't know and I may get flamed over this, but I think Billy Sheehan's bass is what's all wrong with the WInery Dog's album and overall sound. Don't get me wrong, a great record in general. Though his grinding, digital-sounding bass just annoys the heck out of me; it's too thin and lacks that rich, thick bottom-end that this band would benefit from. I would have preferred the bass to have been fed clean, less note-y, and direct to analog with a more supportive role to Kotzen's guitar wizardry.
hear them live, i promise you wont be disappointed, record dont do justice man
I would disagree
talas teusdays at the barelhead
Nice
The interviewer gives the impression of knowing shit all about bass or guitar.
Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla, what does he not know
Man take the guitar, bass isnt for you.
+Dennis Kornegay He is a fantastic guitar player. He played a bit after the show.
Bass Man he's probably been playing longer than you've been alive.
haha, "And that was a little messy" YEEAA RIGHT Billy.... you are such a great musician, hard working gifted man, and what a great attitude. You have the qualities of the classical musicians I work with more than the rock stars, yet you're a rock legend. I tip my hat to you, sir!
