    Billy showed me that tapping technique on my 18th birthday. A friend managed to get me a 10 minute lesson with Billy after a show, and this video kind of helped me relive that. Thank you.

      I was not able to catch the live airing, but I did download a few mp3s of your show. The one that you posted in the description here, and one with Richie Kotzen from November. Though I couldn't find an mp3 of the show from the 16th. Will that be up soon? Again, thank you.

    it's easy to pick and tap the strings on the low end of the fretboard with your left hand, you just have to tap it and it's gonna sound quite loud.

      I asked Billy if that dueling that he and Steve would do in Concert was planned or if they were just improving. They didn't plan it, they just duped each other, which is amazing since he has 50% less strings and no Whammy

    • @alexm2623
      @alexm2623 8 років тому

      He gets more than 4 strings worth of notes, though, lol. He has a hip shot on the E, so he can drop it to D then bend the neck to get all the way down to a B (the open 5th string on a 5 string bass), and with those scalloped frets bend waaaay up there to an F# and maybe even a G. That's before you even get to the harmonics and pinches...lol

    what kind of rig was Billy using for this...still seems to have that signature tone! Was he plugged into both pickups...what are the pedals behind him...what kind of amp?

    • @sillennium
      @sillennium  9 років тому

      citizzencain The pedal was his sig pedal from EBS, and he was using both plugs into the same amp.

    I don't know and I may get flamed over this, but I think Billy Sheehan's bass is what's all wrong with the WInery Dog's album and overall sound. Don't get me wrong, a great record in general. Though his grinding, digital-sounding bass just annoys the heck out of me; it's too thin and lacks that rich, thick bottom-end that this band would benefit from. I would have preferred the bass to have been fed clean, less note-y, and direct to analog with a more supportive role to Kotzen's guitar wizardry.
