Hi Jerry, I think you had a very rewarding day. It's good to see some nice size Blues back in L.I. Nice repair job on the rod tip. When you get the new tip on, paint it with clear nail polish. It will protect it from the salt water. I paint all my guides. Paint all the metal and around the edges of the ceramic insert but don't paint the inside where the line rubs. Take care and good luck, Mickey
Hi Jerry, The nail polish really helps keep the salt water out of the guides where the ceramic insert meet the metal frame of the guide. I had some inserts pop out from the corrosion. So I tried the nail polish and it really helped. Good luck this season, Mickey
Jerry is at it again! Love the surf action with them blues. My new acl is feeling great and I'm ready to fish! My surgeon doesn't want me wading all these Rocky trout rivers up here in Westchester so I'm gonna try and get down to Jones Beach and give it a shot. Your channel is really giving me great tips! I'm excited lol surf fishing is a new world for me.
Hi Joseph thanks! Two different environments and the sand is certainly more foot friendly then those there rocks! The fishing hopefully will only get better and hope you can enjoy it right through when your acl is finally better and be doing both! Get 100% well soon!!!
Hey Jerry, I was hoping that you would really put on a show by using your Penn Sea Scamp 78 on these Cocktail Blues. I would love to see you tackle the Blues on the Sea Scamp.
Hey Jerry, just stumbled along your channel and got hooked on your content. I've subscribed and look forward to more trips. Forgive me if it was simply a cold day but I wanted to share this interesting piece of info in case it was something you'd be interested in. A neighbor of mine has dealt with severe hand tremors for a while. Over the last 2 years, he started keeping bees in his yard and found that a self administered sting in the back of his hands calmed them incredibly well. The treatment became less frequently needed as well. He explained some of the science stuff behind his theories and why it worked, but I forget most of the details. He did wish that he knew of this sooner and was able to begin the process at an earlier point.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. That is quite intriguing I will certainly read into the bee's at the least it sounds extremely interesting and fascinating! I don't mind it any much but I do know the way it can be debilitating and seen by some people. I tried a few things in the past when I was younger and they really didn't work but the bees sound intriguing at the least! Thanks for sharing that loved your comment!
i got skunked tuesday again except my dad caught a 19 1/2 inches flounder. others said they are catching blues nonstop. your catch make me feel like im catching them too.
Nice flounder jay! They blues seem to be in and out i tried today and it was shut down mostly saw one fish that was about it but just enjoy the adventure it always is Jay!
That’s a good blue fish Jerry 😳👏 Maybe it’s too early No lucky for me down here, and that’s 3 seasons already catching cocktails blues...! Good job sharing the treble hook tips and showing stomach content, so we don’t have to 🙂 as always great stuff!! Stay safe Best Mag
A few nicer ones mixed in, I tell you I was think the fly but not possible at that time there they just range to far from the shore most of the time almost all at the end of a 100yd cast. I think the best chance would be the bite earlier on in the tide with a bigger fish volume and with another caster. As he reels the fish in you would be placing fly casts around his fish for the chance of a couple of chasers. I think the were just streaming the channel. Gonna look at more ffly friendly places see if any about! Thanks as always mags!
Good video..Just wondering if you would know why I was unable to find blue fish in southern Jersey last week..Normally they are there but no one was catching Hardley any from what the tackle shops I talked to..Other fisherman I talked to seemed bewildered by lack of them..Seems northern Jersey has more reports. Was in the Atlantic City area and area just south of there..
Hi wish2fish, I fished out of Ocean City area for several years and the fish migrating North seem to go farther out, once they pass the Delaware Bay. North Jersey and Long Island reports are usually good but South Jersey seems to get bypassed. Most of the catches of Stripers and Blue Fish are usually off shore and the surf fishing isn't very good. The ocean bottom off South Jersey if very shallow and flat, with very few structures. Some artificial reefs get fish but you need a boat to catch them. Good luck, Mickey
Thanks. I fished for a few years in a row except last year and the blues were there then at this time of year. Thought it would be a annual thing but guess I was wrong.
@@wish2fish37 Sometimes it's just good timing to catch fish. Lately I have not had much success in the surf. We did great fluke fishing from my friends boat. If you really want to catch fish, you need a boat. It gets you to the fish. I had a boat in O.C. for 19 years and we caught fish 50 yards off the beach or bay piers and the fishermen on the beach or pier were not catching fish. The Blues and Stripers don't seem to be close to shore in the South Jersey area lately. Hopefully that will change. Take care and good luck, Mickey
I always carry my heat glue stick, one day my tip got loose and hung on the line when i casted and that glue stick kept me fishing. You have to teach your young lady to fish with lures.
Looked like another nice outing. Got my first bluefish ever on a fly a couple days ago. Lost more than a few in the wash. Question; should I be aggressive on the hook set? I think I was being too cautious, been cut off many a time.
Thats so cool Martin! Thanks for sharing! Gonna throw some feathers and hair hopefully soon. The blues are gonna do that, Id set as soon as I feel that pull on the line with them if you miss one on a good day one should follow but many days when the weather warms they become picky. You can try 50lb leader may prevent those bite off or wire shocker may help albright about 3-6" to leader crimp or tie 7 strand or twist wire. Sometimes flies with longer shanks will produce less of those bite offs. Good stuff martin!
Oh yea they are pretty durable, i love the bombers too but i like the castability of the SP in these conditions much better, calmer day or back water for sure bomber be they way to go. Dont have the time to load them.
Bro what Rod and Reel you are using? Rod and reel size aswell? Your Sp minnow lure weight and how much lure weight you can cast with that setup? Im planning to have a setup like this too for lure fishing. Sorry for my english. Thankyouuu bro Tight Lines!!!💞💞💞
I like the ambassadeur 6500c3's, thats about a 10' star blank rated 2-4 but range best is 1-2 fast-med action. The sp is a 15s, I can go 1/2 to 5 oz if need be but gen work 1 - 2.5 with this setup effectively
@@FishYourWay this here is my usual spot on the island although I dont get to frequent it as much as I'd like. I've only been able to step down from the rocks onto the sand twice because the water is always up even on the starting of the incoming tide. Needless to say I've had the best fishing on the sand...I'll try to figure the tide out this season hopefully 😅
Best bluefishing in years
Its been pretty wild thanks ras124!
I'm very happy we can get to this piece of water this spring!
Hi Paul! It is indeed a pleasure finally have this stuff behind us! Hope to catch you soon and thanks Paul!

Some things just make too much sense! that tip was 20y old so did well with it! Thanks Mickey!
Nice.....Water looked very clean, clear...Miss those bigger Blues
Hi Paul was a bit of a good crosswind too really nice water glad could share thinking of ya!
Striped bass are being caught down here in New Jersey like crazy!!
Oh wow! thats Great! Thanks Patrick!
Good to see you out there Jerry. Super busy at work. Haven't even had time to get out yet. Keep those videos coming. Stay well Jerry.
Hi Len! Thanks as always and hope you get a few days to take a break and wet a line soon! Much appreciate!
Looks like you had a blast. Good to see some choppers last two seasons I would very rarely pick up a cocktail
Thanks Thomas yea they are in and out just happend to be about much appreciate and hope you get some good ones next time about!

Yeah. I took a couple of em the other day on on the Yozuri Lc minnow. Glad you had great day Jerry. See you out there man.
Hi Arnold! So cool, I think I have one of the rigged with a single siwash hook for a faster bite! They are great! See you soon!
Nice fish, can’t wait to get out there
Thanks Derek and great fishing to you!
Love the action
Thanks for the words always!

It worked! Gonna keep it as is no time to put one on but will have a replacement ready! Thanks Joe!
Hey Jerry that's a very unique Abu Garcia reel 🐟
Oh yea thats the penn beachmaster had that one forever
No your Abu Garcia bait cast reel has two different side plates you must have that reel a long time thanks 🐟
@@jeffreybabino8161 Oh yea! its been around the block a few time!
Yes is that a 6000 or 7000 hay as long as it works that's what matters and it dose 🐟
