Thanks for the video. I was able to replace the belt. I then found the flange on pulley arm of the motor had sheared off. I was able to get a new pulley and fix the dryer. (Impressed the wife and kids.) The belt cost $16 and the pulley $38. Beats paying for a new dryer. As a bonus, I found over $7 in change on the bottom of the dryer. Thanks again.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 😘 Im a 54 y/o housewife and while my husband is hard at work driving a truck all day I figured I’d give it a go!! I followed your step by step instructions (turns out belt was broken), found the part # on the belt, ordered it from Amazon yesterday, received it today and went back to work on it. The hardest part was trying to hold the drum in place while hooking the bottom 😅 but I did it!! Yay!! My husband just walked in and I can’t wait to tell him! Thanks again Scott!!

My model (LEQ8800JQ1) like some of the other people's here has no wheel as part of the idler pulley, just a smooth metal half ring as part of the pulley, but same general process as shown in video. Looking at the Whirlpool site the replacement part they offer is a bit different with a wheel. So, it looks like they have a wheel version that is interchangeable with the the non wheel original version.
This dryer is a beast and has lived through multiple washers over 16 years and finally just had that linguine sized belt break. $15 fix, much better than new $500 dryer.
Thanks for your well done video.

Best video of help on UA-cam for this kind of drier. It answered every question I had and showed things like how the tension arm was placed ... mine had fallen out and I had no idea how it was to be placed correctly. The front felt bearing was a PIA, but with a large flat head screwdriver and fingernails as a way to flatten it out a bit, I was able to get the felt INSIDE the drum. This is REALLY critical that it's put inside the drum correctly or you can damage the new belt. Thanks for such a helpful & descriptive video!

Thank you! Both the idler pulley and the belt were broken in my washer. But thanks to your video, I was able to install the new parts easily. The only thing I wish you had explained is that you have to press a tab in the lid switch to unplug it (I know it was already unplugged for you, but a brief explanation on where to press would have been useful; I had to look up a whole other video just for that information)

EDIT UPDATE: Today me and my nephew got the dryer fixed. The belt came in today at Lowes and we got it fixed. Who knows what a repair man would have charged if we would of had to have a repair man come out. we wouldn't have been able to fix such a simple problem without having watched this. Thank YOU So Much for this video. ❗💯So far we got the front end of and found that the belt is broken. I think ours might be slightly new model as the order number was on a different sticker on the side up front. When we get another belt for it hopefully putting it on wont be as hard as it looks. It looks like wrapping it around the pulley takes a little bit of work for those unfamiliar or new to this. Will let you know when I get the part hopefully I am able to get it on myself. At least this told me exactly what was wrong and I now know how to take the top and front end off and what it what happened.

This was a very helpful video. My drum stopped turning and the belt was intact, but has some long slivers, frayed parts. I suspect one caused the problem.
Q: how do I order the correct belt? I see they come in several sizes. Google search sucks for specific models because it returns ads and close matches. I’d like to see “model number=XX inches.” Like an auto parts store. Not sure why that’s so hard to find.

This worked. I know youtube doesn't always send notifications. But as an update spent 16 bucks got a new belt. I don't know how much money i just saved by doing this very easy job, but Thank you for this video!❗, I'm sure I would have had to pay a lot more than that if I had a repair men come out to my house for this; Plus I feel a sense of accomplishment getting this done with the help of my nephew. it's easier when someone holds the drum in place while the other gets the belt on.💯

Thank you! Found this video and 15 mins later was ordering a belt to replace the broken one (actually just ordered the kit). Different model, same layout. Also beware of the very sharp metal of the back side of the front panel!

Thanks for the help on your video. This was exactly what happened to my dryer -- the only difference is I had an idle slider instead of an idle pulley, but the fix was the same. Easy project with a screwdriver and a socket wrench.

Thanks for the very good tutorial. My belt broke, bought a belt for $15 and the rest is history and back to drying the clothes. Ya made me feel smart Brother. I was also able to slay the fuzz dragon that was growing under the tub. 👍🇺🇸⚔️🇬🇪

What if that band is missing ? Does that mean it tore ?

🎉Dryer wasn’t spinning. Watched your tutorial, went to the home improvement store and had to buy two different size rubber bands since we couldn’t find the size listed by whirlpool. Came home, made it into a family affair, teenage son, husband and I replaced the rubber drum band within 10 minutes and we cleaned all the lint that collected underneath the drum. Been over a month and the dryer works perfectly. Thank you!

Dryer quit spinning as I'm washing loads for an out of town trip, and bingo! Best 11:36 I spent all week. Thanks!
