It's cooked in Bagol, the shell of the coconut, hence the name 'Binagol' to translate it roughly, 'shelled'. Good video tho! Looking forward to our province! ♥️
I've never heard of talyan. The richness of our culture and history blows my mind again. I hope my nieces growing up outside of the Philippines will someday appreciate the uniqueness of the Filipino culture. Our food is diverse and it's woven into our family-centered culture.
Talyan grows tall with big leaves, just liked elephant ears plant, I think they are same plants, I saw India growing plenty of them, but in U. S. Mostly for beautiful landscaping.
I think they tried, erwan was asking for recos on who makes good moron when they were in Leyte. I'm not sure if they were able to find one that would allow them to film. Maybe sa next episode??

This brought back so many memories. I was born and raised in Iloilo City but whenever my dad would travel to Tacloban for work, he would bring back these delicacies that easily became my favorite - binagol and moron. They seemed pretty weird and unfamiliar to me as an Ilongga at first but I could not get enough of them after! I would even give a look of disapproval if dad came home without them. Lol.
