Imagine being the person who set up the lighting for this video and then Roger starts talking about the lighting setup. Lol!
LOL EXACTLY my thought!
Modest to a fault. This man is a genius. Never stops learning. What an inspirational human.
"Always Learning" and hearing he has the same first-day-self-doubt as the rest of us,.. such openness is delightful.
I have so much respect for Deakins.
He seems like such a humble, nice person. And his work is legendary
Imagine the anxiety of the dude who shot this...
@Brandon Michael Hinsley Well if you think about it there isn't really a single thing in this world that you can do "the right way"
2:13 He clearly said: "look at this lighting, it's great, but I wouldn't do that." LOL, the dude must be all sweating.
Deakins seems like a super cool guy, and it didn’t really seem like he was judging the set but i’d be lying if i said i wouldn’t be nervous to set up this interview
Roger is a man with a beautiful mind. He's almost childlike in his curiosity. I love the humility on him. He's always learning. I love how he wants to interpret the film how he feels it and not by the rules.
I love Roger Deakins silhouettes in the films he’s shot. I wouldn’t say that’s his style but it’s definitely a trademark of his in the films he has DP’d.
This so Good thank you Arri, Deakins is truly a master of his craft and I could listen to him speak for days.
Love ARRI! "Old friends that you've shared your life with."
5:15 God bless that snort.
Both 35mm filmmaking and digital filmmaking are good, it's the story or production that dictates which one you'll use really.
I agree 💯💯
Well, we would love to see you keep working until you are a 100, Sir Deakins. It's a pleasure watching your work and watching you talk about your passion
The master cinematographer of films by major directors, including Sam Mendes, the Cohen Brothers and Denis Villeneuve
now arri wil make a 'Deakins Edition' that weighs half a pound.
Wonderful...
I love the black and white video.

Still working in his 90's. I am hopeful!
He's great.

Deakins still loves the M!
And the Oscar goes toooooo
🎬🎥🔥

01:22 words of wisdom
Is this shot on the Alexa B&W?
Hi Nick, it was shot on the AMIRA
...to have no style is his style.....
Somehow he looks like roy batty :|
Please make BR2049 part 2, save K!!
Deakins has to be there in the completion of the magnum opus, and K is the only one who can save deckard and anna from Wallace and the replicant rebels who want to commit genocide in annas name!
K LIVES. Also wish deakins was on DUNE, I think they really messed up not asking him to do it. The movie could of been just as amazing as 2049 visually, and people probably wouldn't of cared about the changes.
Now it kind of looks like a boring brown fart stain.
