@@FortinAmps I interested in purchasing a zuul mini noise gate. Can you connect that pedal the same way you connected the two cable method? My setup will be my guitar plug in to compression pedal, distortion pedal, the zuul mini pedal, reverb pedal, and then plug cable in front of amp. Is that the way I will set it up once purchased? Thanks.
Love this pedal! Very impressed on how well it, while in 4CM, solves the OD noise issue in the front of my 3Ch DR with no need to run through the loop. Far better than the original ZUUL. Thank you Fortin!
Basically in 4 cable method. All pedals that have noise you plug into the key output into input of noisey pedals, and from there from the output into the input of the amp?
I had the zuul noise gate 3 cable with my tuner bypass. Now im trying 4 cable method but kinda lost from where to get my key in . I got a wah à boss tu3 à digital drop d. Should i get the key in from my digitech drop out or from my bypass from tuner ?
They don't seem to answer questions. I'm wondering the same thing. I have the shure tuner wireless going to the input of the digitech drop pedal. I was thinking those go into the key input. My wah pedal is a little hot, so I'm assuming the key output would go to my wah input. Basically anything that's creating noise. From there it goes in the input. Then from the output into the input of the amp. That's what I'm getting from it. For the 4 cable method without effects loop that is. Did you try it yet? I'm curious.
I use a pedals only setup which is as follows: Guitar into boost pedal into pre-amp/amp in a box type pedal into EQ pedal that finally goes to a Torpedo CAB-M. If I were to use the Zuul is this the ideal way - Guitar into key input of Zuul into my pedals, back into input of Zuul and finally the out to my Torpedo CAB M ?
Hi! Nice video! I have what might be a dumb question here: in the configuration of the Zuul+ used with the key input AND in effects loop, considering that my amp has a footswitch for the effects loop (5150iii stealth 50w) that I want to activate only for leads (reverb/delay etc), then in this config deactivating the effects switch will also disable the gate right?
By using the 4 cable method with a FX loop, is the ZUUL eliminating noise at the END of the oedal chain in front of the amp? I notice the guitar goes into the ZUUL and the Key thru goes into your FIRST OD pedal. I thought a noise gate should go at the END of your pedal chain to eliminate any noise from your pedals in front like OD/Distoriton/etc.. So if i have 4 pedals in FRONT of my amp, Do I still want to plug it into the first pedal? not the last pedal? (sorry to sound so confusing )
I use an overdeive but i do not use any reverbs or delays, so if i want to use the 4 cable method, what cable should i connect to the front of the amp?
He, great video. I have a question.I use an engl Invader2 which has 2 effectloops. I have a zuul 1 know version in fx1 for rhythm. Fx level full wet. effectsloop2 for leads with time based effects with a bit of the engl noisegate. Any tips for this set up? If i want fx2 also via a zuul. Could if wire it with 1 zuul or should i use 2 different zuul pedals? How to get the signals splitted? I connect all with the 4 cable method.
Either method would be perfectly fine, but the tuner before the key input would be best because your guitar would be activating the noise gate when you are tuning if not.
It can go before the key or in the loop. If you're using it to boost sustain id recommend putting it before any inputs on the noise gate or it'll just cut off your sustains. Of course you can dial it not to do that but you're limiting yourself to that. And the compressor will bring up more of your softer notes up to the gate threshold.
Awesome pedal !!!!! But. I use two Zuuls , one in front of the Amp, and one in the effects loop !!!! For awesome tightness !!!! I need one threshold knob in front and one threshold knob in the effects loop !!!! Fortin should work on two thershold knobs for one in front, and one in the effects loop, on their next pedal !!! ( I’m using the First Zuul pedals ) And two switches for in front and in the loop
Will I damage this pedal If I try going from roach buffer to the key in, then the key thru to grind boost to amp input, as opposed to roach buffer to key in, then second roach out to grind boost to amp input as described in this video? Thanks
so stoked to receive my Zuul+ coming in pretty soon! great comprehensive video on the connection variation as well. however, I just have one question for my setup in particular. I've built a ready-to-go pedal board with an amp/preamp in a box setup, naturally having the drives upfront and time based effects on the outputs, so where or how should be placing mine in this type of chain? more than happy to provide a schematic to give a better understanding
I am having some trouble with how to acually ask this question so it makes sense, but here we go. I have a victory super duchess amp and a V4 countess pedal preamp Idont know if you are familiar with theese products, but anyways.. I would like to use my V4 countess with the 4 cable method, but i am not sure how to connect my zuul + to eliminate both the noise of the v4 and other overdrive pedals going to the amp. On the v4 you have the following inputs: guitar in, send, return, and to amp. I just bought a fortin zuul+ pedal and this pedal also have a send and return on it, which needs to be plugged in the send and return of the amp to work the best possible way, to my understanding. Can you help me with this? I want the Fortin Zuul pedal to eliminate noise from the V4 countess when using lots of gain, and also overdrive pedals that are not in the effects loop. Is it possible to use a jack that have two inputs and one output in both the send and return of the amp? What is the best possible way to make the best out of both pedals?
I get some high pitched feedback from my guitar and my gate only does well with that if it's in front of the amp. Does the Zuul take care that through the effects loop cause I would also like to take out some pre amp hiss as well. Basically I'm trying to avoid a double gate situation.
The Zuul+ key triggers from your guitar directly and gates the end of your signal chain if you set it up properly! You should be able to do a setup that takes care of you no problem.
All pedal makers should make videos like this. Literally this video is the only reason I am now considering this pedal over my previous options.

Same here.
The best tutorial I´ve ever seen about how to connect zuul.
very didactic and precise.

to be honest .. one of the best video how to connect and use a pedal .. Respect guys .. great job

Great vid and well explained! Fortin Zuul is mega
This is so awesome! I have the zuul mini+roach combo. I'll purchase this for a 2nd board
what dose the little knob inside do?
Where is the best place to run your wah wah, before or after the Zuul? congratulations for the video
Bought mine as soon as it came out ! Instant no brainer buy ! 🤘🍻
How are you liking it?
It’s in transit still 😞
Wondering is it better to use a tuner pedal before the key input or after? Using 4 cable method setup
The tuner has a buffer I need on, it’s the boss waza craft tuner
Basically in 4 cable method. All pedals that have noise you plug into the key output into input of noisey pedals, and from there from the output into the input of the amp?
how would you set up the zuul with a tuner going in to a switcher like the Gigrig Quartermaster?

Where would you put an EQ like a para EQ? After the return with reverbs and delays? I would think maybe it goes before the zuul but I’m OK either way
To me no pedal company comes close to Fortin, love the (regular) Zuul. I've been using it for years.
Where is the best place to run your tuner, before or after the Zuul? I have a TC electronic mini that also buffers the signal. Thanks for the video.
I'd recommend putting it before the key input because if not tuning your guitar will trigger the gate thus allowing the amp noise through.
In 4cm should I still be hearing the preamp or should it be totally silent?
Is there a way to printout the slide he shows of all the ways to hook it up.?

if you were using a 4 cable method with fx loop would a tuner pedal go before or after the Key Thru?

@@MelTorres that makes sense thanks for the response!!! can't wait to use my Zuul +
@@jquerolls Let us know when you get it!
Can your plug wah wah in key input and then to the guitar. I’m using 4 cable method.
That would effect the gating we would recommend you putting that after the key input.

Can i use the zoll+ with a dry wet setup?
Zoll> drives> into Dry A amp
and
Send wet B amp > zoll> wet effects > retun wet B amp
Is the Zuul + buffered?
Can I trade my older zuul for this one?
Will I damage this pedal If I try going from roach buffer to the key in, then the key thru to grind boost to amp input, as opposed to roach buffer to key in, then second roach out to grind boost to amp input as described in this video? Thanks
No absolutely not. You will not damage it. We would just recomend using the Key input before your boosters and overdrives!

Is there a send and return in the setup? basically you would plug in the Zuul+ to that and proceed as usual.
@@FortinAmps no actually. hence asking the best way to incorporate the Zuul+ here
