Hi Navie, I've recently come across you're videos and I have to say you're the best on the platform. I've been producing for a few years now and I've already learned so much from a few of your videos. I really enjoy your style and hopefully we can collab in the future. Big love brother!!!
Because like a lot of people, I am self-taught, it's really helpful to watch videos like these and make sure I get the basics down. Seems obvious, but great refresher
Once again, thank you for using FL Studio for us, and 2, thank you for making this so plain to understand and not trying to show off something. A lot channels that talk about making "beats" are all flashy and trying to sell us something, you however, did it correctly and made drum patterns much easier to understand to someone like me that is self-taught and trying to learn more! Thanks!
I appreciate your help. I know a lot of these things but sometimes I forget or skip steps thinking im on track but at the end it feels off or flat or just not loud enough. Thanks again. 🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯
As always, amazing! I like how you also mentioned songs as an example for the patterns. I noticed you used the term 'Counter Balance', do you think you can make a video on that covering melodies and other aspects regarding it?
@@NavieD my pleasure! It’s really given me a better idea on how to structure my beats and Keep the listener intrigued. But even still, practice, practice practice
thanks. i think drums can get a bit boring on a beat when making it. but as soon as you add the bass then the magic happens. I feel the bass is supporting the drums much better.
You have a great memory! Yes we did a 6 week mission in Chili, Argentina and Zapla (all in South American) it was epic and life changing... Thank you for the great educational content! And would like to add that 3-3-2 pattern is also called Tresillo rhythm, very fundamental for african and south american music
Came here to sat the same. It's used on its own but is also forms the first component of the son clave pattern which is found all over South/Central American music and Caribbean music. It is fundamental to Cuban music for example.

Songs mentioned in the video:
Q-Tip - Breathe and Stop
Black Milk - Overdose
Azealia Banks - Heavy Metal and Reflective
Couldnt choose tbh, they all had their own cool feature
The second rhythm was the most interesting to me. But if I start experimenting down the line, I would prefer the first idea more.
Always startin’ classic, cause i was taught there needs to be a snare on the 2 and on the 4. Pretty outdated though 🥸
That Breathe and Stop Riddim never gets old for some reason.
