Ilmango: 45.000 withers killed per hours and obtaining command blocks in survival Also ilmango: Highlight of the episode: We eat a single piece of bread
A long time ago I learned that endermen can't pick up blocks beneath their feet level; if this is still true you could just keep the floor at block level (not slab height) around your nether blocks, and cover them from the bottom to keep them from getting hijacked!
If I remember correctly it was added bc they constantly tried picking up blocks beneath them and that'd cause some wonky issues with path finding, so they just tweaked it a bit.
I heard someone present the idea of cobblestone generators generating cobbled deep slate below y = 0. Thought that was a very clean way of adding renewable deep slate.
It really makes sense; not only is deepslate just a form of stone below y=0, you can also find water and lava occasionally mixing below y=0 and the cobblestone and stone it forms look really unnatural.
And you know, this isn't even the first time recently I've seen an established MC UA-camr suppose confidently that crops away from a water block would break and drop automatically. Arbitrary technical exploits is one thing, but bog-standard early-game setup is its own whole thing to have forgotten.
I will definitely put the work in to run this series until everything the game has to offer was played with. It is single player so I can only blame myself. But there's also the scicraft series so I can only put some attention to this every week. The series will take a while I hope
Dude, missing that line of blocks to mine downwards when getting attacked by those phantoms had me laughing so hard 😂. I know how much that sucks in the moment, but it was hilarious.
That empty bottle will actually be very useful. Once you get a cauldron, it can take hours to fill up with water, but then once you get one source down you can fill the cauldron back up using the bottle and get a second source for the infinite water source.
Bro, if you use running water with a dirt block underneath and use bone meal to grow a seaweed there, it will generate infinite water from the seaweed.
@@TheTITANbr_777 I'm not sure how this is any easier than the cauldron with the water bottle. Both require at least one water source, but kelp also requires you nto buy it from a wandering trader. For those who wonder how the farm work, there is a lot of solid blocks on the other side of the trapdoors so the mobs will pathfind toward those blocks and fall.
@@implode9186 Correct. The way the endermen AI works is by taking the center of the block and drawing a horizontal line from that to the enderman. If the line hits any blocks, the original block is ‘hidden’ and the enderman cannot pick it up. So anything that’s the height of a bottom slab or lower allows endermen to pick up blocks behind it, and anything higher than a bottom slab would hide the block. Hopefully that helps
I would have made smelting dripstone give you calcite. Seeing as dripstone is essentially limestone and calcite is essentially marble. And you get marble when limestone is subjected to pressure and heat.
Limestone, stalactites/stalagmites (most of the time), and calcite are all calcium carbonate. Saying calcite is essentially marble is inaccurate; calcite may be the main component of marble, but the majority of calcite isn't marble
No, it should give you lime, then you add water to make slaked lime. Then after a while it hardens back into limestone. That's what happens in real life (lime kilns). Calcium carbonate CaCO3 + 900C heat + reducing atmosphere becomes CaO+CO2, then CaO(lime) + H2O(water) = Ca(OH)2, slaked lime or calcium hydroxide. CaOH2 slowly reacts with CO2 in the air to turn back into calcium carbonate or limestone.

This is super similar to my skyblock world. I started with a 2x2 of grass blocks, one lava block, and one oak sapling. After that I farmed enough trees to build your bare minimum resources mob farm and killed about 3k zombies to get the iron for a cauldron and thus water and cobble stone. Then the goal was to farm 144 gold armor pieces to smelt into enough gold nuggets to make two gold apples to cure villagers and the the game opens up wide. Mango you’re in for a treat with this series. I think it’s fascinating to have added a way to get lava in a vacuum via villager gifts, I wish this was in vanilla tbh. Also forcing yourself to farm emeralds from foxes is insane, I’d never try to do that personally which is why i included a lava block in my starting island.
Maybe lava could be made in cauldrons somehow using lightning like how regular rain fills them with water. Somehow involve a block to be melted. Would open all stone crafting trees from the void
The shot were the phantoms chase you is really good ! The music is at the right timing and I love how you were in the worst position when they spawned. I just love it :D
Hey ilmango, you can make a lot more stuff with your wood that you didn’t do in this video. 1: you can splurge on slabs and fences to make your platform safer and more comfortable for yourself 2: CHESTS! That way you won’t lose as much if you die again. 3: A composter only needs wood and you can spend some of those extra saplings to get a little extra bonemeal for your wheat, reducing your reliance on skeletons. 4: you already mentioned this one, but string from spiders to make a bed is definitely a worthwhile investment. You should probably make a dedicated spider farm where the spiders can climb upwards into the killing chamber and all the other mobs just fall into the void.
You should probably bridge out to a taiga biome for foxes ASAP. Also, here’s a few noteworthy trades from the wandering trader that you might not have thought of: 1: buckets of fish for a cheap bucket and to get water 2: moss blocks can take a large investment of dirt, but they might be able to give you infinite bonemeal even without breaking the moss. Not sure about that one, but the oak wood from the azalea trees makes it worth it all on its own (even though you don’t get apples) 3: two rooted dirt only costs one emerald, unlike podzol! So you can actually get some extra dirt for a reasonable price before you get into the nether and get gravel
This one is more of a personal opinion, but sweet berries are absolutely amazing and should be purchased. They’re good for food and for composting, and eventually they can be sold to villagers. None of that is strictly necessary, especially at this stage of the game, but it’s something to look into.
Awesome, this is gonna be cool! I like the implementation of lava through defeating a raid to get HotV, and maybe it would work for other things? Masons for amethyst buds, farmer for some kind of grass etc. Also, would be nice to see a naturally generated sculk shrieker somewhere in the world, since with it you can get catalysts and therefore sculk as a whole
I wish fire and/or lightning filled a cauldron with lava if a metal block were above it that would make lava and all stone builds available ex nihilo since iron, copper, & gold ingots are available to void players.
9:27 so basically you defeat the raid and save all the villagers and the villagers repay you by throwing a bucket of freaking lava at you man those villagers are ruthless
You could always stop a chicken from a jockey from despawning by getting it in a boat so you can keep it until you encounter another jockey so you can breed them and get an egg laying one.
I'm pretty certain that as long as you interact with it, it cannot despawn. So feeding it a random seed should prevent it from despawning, but I guess it won't prevent it from dying in the void.
i think modded skyblock experience would help in this series: - bottom slabs are your friends - you can build a slab/darkness based mobfarm for permanent access to mobs (1 slab at foot level space to hit them) - guard rails would be important if this was onelife/hardcore
I first discovered your channel when you did the 1.14 SkyBlock challenge. I liked it so much that I played along in solo for a bit. I was so excited when I saw this on my feed a couple weeks ago, and have just now gotten the time to watch. The fact you are doing this solo is cool, brings back some memories! I remember I liked to start with building a spider farm to make a bed. I hated the wandering trader lava system, because it was just so slow and annoying, so I wrote my own script to change the Toolsmith's bell trade to a lava bucket trade. I didn't like this approach either, because it was way too easy, so I LOVE the idea of using the Hero Of The Village gift system instead. It's about as difficult as the wandering trader system, even more so in the early game, but it has a method of farming in the late game that isn't overpowered.
I recently finished working on my own skyblock datapack in an extremely similar vein to this one. I only mention it because I prefer my method of obtaining Deepslate and you may prefer it as well! I also had it so Reinforced Deepslate would still generate where Ancient Cities would have been, and having infested stone within the frame would turn them into their Deepslate variants. This also means a infested cobblestone/stone generator could feed blocks through the frame via pistons. (Shown on my channel) I also quite liked having Netherrack obtainable by mining Cracked Nether Bricks without Silk Touch Also started with Acacia! Best choice for a more interesting time
Could you make it where you keep your existing hunger bar after death? That would prevent the needless deaths you talked about in the beginning for hunger regen

Same for the server skyblock which happened few years later. I'm looking forward to seeing how this series will develop with all the new things added since previous run, your vast experience and the modded additions.
This is crazy. At some point this has to be considered masochism. I love it. Can I ask, btw. How long did this one episode take? I mean from when you loaded into your world until the end of the video. How long did that take?
You can put an acacia log on top of the saplings to prevent the mobs from spawning on the dirt block while still allowing the sapling to grow since it ignores log and leaf blocks
I did something very similar recently but more restrictive, just the main island and that’s it. In the end I ended up doing some research into chunk resetting glitches and found out I could reset the chunk by changing my game modes through different infdevs. This was inspired by the bedrock trick you did on sci-craft so I thank you.
In the first few days, if you get lucky with enough tree growth, you could always make a quick spider only farm,1 block high platform with bottom half slab roof. This would get you early string to craft wool for a bed. That way wouldn't have to worry about phantoms
Mango I’ve always loved your lets play style videos. Some of your vids feel more like highlight reels and I dont like these as much. Im excited to watch the series!
29:45 best replay timelapse ever x) ( You managed to keep very high health for the early game so you could have tanked it and wall yourself in with a roof quick on the bigger part of the platform to avoid the death ;) ) (I love your building with stairs ... every time I see it it's like I should do it but also every time I forget x) )
Can't tell you how happy it makes me to see you make the pathing mob farm, it's always my go to in sky block ever since that old video on wandering mechanics 💜
16:20 i know something il mango doesnt! the chicken will not despawn iff you feed it at least once. It will lay eggs and act like a normal chicken only once you've fed it.
Definitely love this series. I'm so curious how he is gonna defeat minecraft in natural survival way, without spamming crazy machines like his scicraft series. Keep up your great work.
I really enjoyed that time lapse. This is a cool series so far. Beginnings are always really interesting. I hope you save one grass for an easier sheep farm in the future. I didn't know you could get a bucket from a wandering trader. In my survival flat world without structures that would have been useful, but it still wouldn't have avoided the need for a bonus chest. I didn't get saplings in my flat world, but I got enough logs for a crafting table and beds plus apples to cure villagers.
I did the pig-lightning-gold thing back in January to get villagers in bedrock superflat, but you can't get half the professions or anything else involving stone. I really think cauldrons should be fillable with lava like how they're fillable with rain, maybe lightning could melt something like metal, sand, etc to fill them.
Honestly, lava from the wandering trader is the one vanilla tweak Mojang should've fixed long ago. It's one the most important resources, heck, even finding it in the overworld can be hard, and it's not even renewable until you find dripstone.
There's 2 dudes who are doing single block Skyblock. One guy starting with a single grass block and another starting with a single block of bedrock. Both worth a watch imo. And definitely a challenge
Is there something missing at 34:22?

I did something very similar recently but more restrictive, just the main island and that’s it.
In the end I ended up doing some research into chunk resetting glitches and found out I could reset the chunk by changing my game modes through different infdevs.
This was inspired by the bedrock trick you did on sci-craft so I thank you.
would it be easier to convert zombies to drowned instead of trying to spawn them?
Now that you mention it xD
Yeah I did this on my Skyblock series to get copper. I just flooded the killing chamber on my mob farm
Awesome ! Love to see you in a solo world , and a skyblock with that !
i loaded this mod and didnt get the nether blocks in the world?
did you fix it ?
@@guidosantangelo8572 they changed the map so you get those blocks when you get the the nether
@@Dylan200 oh thanks, i was getting worried
the 1.14 sky block was a serise i absoltly loved cant wait to see how this goes!
Shouldn't you use bottom slabs for expansion of the island?
lol total coincidence, but i saw this comment right as he said the same thing at 11:37
I absolutely love this, I'm aware of how much time and effort will have to go into this series so I hope it pays off :)
I watched the 1.14 skyblock series like 3 times it was so much fun!
I was just starting to rewatch the last Skyblock too. Excited!
In the first few days, if you get lucky with enough tree growth, you could always make a quick spider only farm,1 block high platform with bottom half slab roof. This would get you early string to craft wool for a bed. That way wouldn't have to worry about phantoms
Literally making my way through the 1.14 SkyBlock. Looking forward to this treat as I finish the last series
Mango I’ve always loved your lets play style videos. Some of your vids feel more like highlight reels and I dont like these as much. Im excited to watch the series!
I loved that progress update at 8:10
The run from the phantoms REALLY made me smile 🤣 I've been in the same situation many times 🔥 I absolutely love your doing skyblock
Skyblock is always fun to watch. This is a welcomed change of pace.
29:45 best replay timelapse ever x)
( You managed to keep very high health for the early game so you could have tanked it and wall yourself in with a roof quick on the bigger part of the platform to avoid the death ;) )
(I love your building with stairs ... every time I see it it's like I should do it but also every time I forget x) )
Can't tell you how happy it makes me to see you make the pathing mob farm, it's always my go to in sky block ever since that old video on wandering mechanics 💜
You know, the stark contrast and orange on grey colour scheme gives off a really SMB3 vibe. I love it!
You must be insane, doing that grind alone! Really impfessiv that you keep Challenging yourself those ways!
This might be my new favourite UA-cam series!
the pathfinding-based mob farm makes a lot of sense. nice start!
Loving the realizations and mistakes along the way, and then rolling with it.
Look forward to episode 2 showing up
So psyched for this series!!! Absolutely loved following the 1.14 project
YESSSS I loved the old skyblock series cant wait to watch this one
This just feels like a reason to make Minecraft take as long as possible to beat, and I fully support it
I am really hyped for this series, i love the challenge and how you resolve it. Certainly mind games.

F in the chat for that acacia sapling.
F
definitely props for teasing a freecam tour of the mob farm and then ending the episode xDDD
I already re watched the last Skyblock 3 times, what a surprise to you on a new Skyblock
