This song reminds me so much of my father. He toured twice in Iraq, received a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged after an injury from an ambush. Although he came back alive, he did not come back the same and struggles with PTSD from what he had to see and do. He always tells me that he lives with so much heaviness on his soul. Even though he thinks he's some devil, I think he's the best dad any one could ask for.

God Bless both of you. I'm young but my dad was old. He actually was in Vietnam. He had a temper and would scare easy when approaching him at night. He always told us after he was sorry and part of it was due to Undiagnosed PTSD. Back then no one wanted that label. I remember one time he wrapped my older brother up in a choke hold out of the dead of sleep. It was impressive but frightening lol I'm 31. He passed away 2 years ago. Keep loving your Dad forever and beyond. RIP D.B. I miss yuh.

I found this song not long after my family moved out. I was about 4 months into drying out. Played this song a lot while working the steps. Needed something to remind myself that I wasn't all bad and that getting sober was worth it.

My wife and I are going through a very difficult time due to some of my...issues. We've been together for nearly 20 years; since I was 20 so half of our lives we've been together. This last week was one of our rockiest times we've ever had and we honestly were not sure we would make it as a couple. I surprised her with tickets to your 6/10/23 show in Detroit and we had the best time we've had together in years. I can't say where things are going to go with us going forward but that show, that day, made us remind each other that we do love each other and we want to fight to keep us going. This song in particular hits hard but I'm attributing our reconciliation to Cody and this concert. I will never forget this concert and this day so thank you Cody for *hopefully* saving my marriage.

I ended up buying all of his releases after listening to this album for a week. He just released his cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" and I think it is fantastic. He has 2 out of print albums "Cast No Stones" and "Collector's Item", if you're on Facebook there is a great Cody Jinks group called Blacksheep which has them available in digital format, with Cody's blessing; many members are incredibly generous and record copies to CD and mail them at no charge, only request is pay-it-forward by making copies for other members. One of the songs on the out-of-print CDs is "Walk Alone", incredible lyrics - especially the stories he weaves about the homeless Vietnam vet and single mother - first time I heard it I got tears in my eyes and replayed it a few more times immediately.

The way I interpret this song is through my own experience. I was dating this girl and we we're happy. I slipped and fell and I believed lies and I screwed up our relationship. Like the song says "I slipped and i fell i made my bed". I told her all these reason to please stay( there's 10,000 reasons for you not to stay) but she didn't want to do it. I told her im not this bad guy you think I am, im not the devil you think I am. Im human and I messed up. I was depressed when it happened because everything I did was my fault and I told her I get it if you leave, but im not the devil you think I am. Cody if you see this id like to thank you for this song. It has helped me through that experience. If anyone is or was in a relationship with someone who screwed up just know we're human we aren't perfect. Thank you cody.

Ive been with my wife for almost 12yrs and have been married for almost 8yrs...... I love this woman with everything I have and will never stop....... But I have learned that loving her is not everything I needed to do...... I wouldnt step up and be the man she needed..... I was in and out of jobs all the time and when I did actually keep a job, I wouldnt do my half of the 24/7 365, job we both had at home. Cleaning and spending time with our kids instead of playing my game or watching t.v...... I let her down and she told me she is falling out of love with me and I dont know if I'm too late to get her back....... I found GOD recently and I'm doing my best to stay on the path he is leading me....... But I'm scared that path doesnt have her in it with me and that kills me inside..... I'm the one who broke her and I dont know how to fix it...... I dont want our life story together to end, but if it does I dont want it to end because I was a lazy shit of a husband and dad....... Im so sorry baby....Im also sorry for doing that to our children baby...... I turned into my father and lost sight of everything we had and have ..... Please forgive me and let me show you..... Im Not The Devil You Think That I Am........ I can do it if you let me..... I WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN EVER AGAIN BABY

I've heard amazing things about Cody Jinks, about how he is keeping real country music alive. This is my first time hearing Mr. Jinks and it won't be the last. This is old school 70s, 80s, early 90s country performed by a modern artist. I'm getting tired of hearing pop country on my country stations. Some of it is ok, but a lot of it like FGL, Lady A, Carrie and Kelsea Ballerini should be on a Top 40 station. There is nothing pop about Cody Jinks. Those who wondered where country music has gone have found it. Thank you for keeping that traditional sound alive. The greats like George Jones, George Strait, Waylon, Willie, Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson thank you. If modern country has committed Murder on Music Row, Cody Jinks is helping to resurrect it.

+Leland Bates fight for your wife, I have been down that same road. if you truly love her do t let her go. You have to change the reason she wants to leave you. Go to the ends of the world to prove to her you have changed.Pray for her, pray for yourself. marriage is not something you give up on because it got hard. Marriage is a daily battle, the devil wants to tear it apart because it was a covenant between you, your wife, and God. punch the devil in the mouth and get your wife back. If she can see a true change, and change back into the man she first married she won't go anywhere. but you can't just fix it until things get better you have to change yourself. when I went thru this same problem, I changed myself because I saw my faults and realized I was the problem. i changed myself for me because I didn't want to be that guy. and in changing myself for me, I also changed myself for her. God has done way harder miracles than fixing your marriage. it's going to be hard, but not near as hard as seeing her with another man! So man up and get your wife back.

I wanted to keep trying but she doesn't so I'm gonna try to be her friend at least and hopefully she will see the changes I'm working on. I never cheated or beat her to be honest I felt stupid compared to her and couldn't talk to her amongst other things. she may not want to try but my plan is to show her the changed man I'm working to be.

I became clean and sober off drugs and alcohol. Mr. Jinks your music helped me defeat the disease of addiction.. I've even bought a guitar 🎸 an acoustic guitar to be exact 🤙 so now I'm strumming and listening to my favorite Cody Jinks songs.. one song I keep on repeat was " somewhere in the middle " then "mama song" all his songs related to me in one way or the other. Thank you Mr Cody Jinks 🤙

Jamey Johnson is the man and he played with a huge band, multiple drummers horn section etc, but Cody is such the real deal that I don't think its wise to have him as your opener. It's so strange I would come across this when I did. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear it was written about me. My name is 'Cody,' and, I have the 'Devil' tattooed on my back. I've been the scapegoat all my life. In a heavy moment not but a few minutes ago, I just found this track. Mr. Jinks, you have no idea how close this song is to describe me. I think I about stepped outside myself. I could share a few things about my life that is so much in sync with this song of yours. Your first name, the title of the song, the lyrical equation...and just how much I've been jinxed in life just trying to prove that I'm not all that I have been through as a scapegoat. From me, to you, thank you, Mr. Jinks. I only hope you understand the depth of my words here. Humble gratitude to you, brother. I don't have the words other than that.

I have also been going through alot, I mean to me it feels like God doesn't even love me anymore not only bc im a homosexual but bc I have done alot of bad things and have begged for forgiveness and it seems to fail everytime. In late April I lost my baby brother by injury and I have lost all but two of my grandparents and great grandparents. It never fails. But this song completely explains me bc I'm not a bad person than everyone puts me out to be. I just feel like I ain't loved anymore but I will hold onto faith and hope to see another tomorrow and have enough love for myself to replace everyone! Thanks Cody!!

Although the stigma of addiction is not what it was, and it's becoming more and more excepted as an illness and not a badness, I still need to remind others and remind myself that I'm not the devil that you think that I am. Either way I'm still sleeping in the bed that I made and I'm doing the best that I can.
