    What caught me out was I didn't realise there were two USB connectors. I had assumed it was all through the one I use for the HRD control. This is a great bonus from ICOM.

    How loud is the T/R relay on the Icom 7610 radio? I used to use a Kenwood TS-940 using AMTOR ARQ and full break-in CW decades ago. The T/R relay is very quiet in the Kenwood TS-940. I have also used a Kenwood TS-430, and the T/R relay is very loud, so using AMTOR ARQ and full break in CW would not be acceptable with the loud T/R relay. How loud is the T/R relay in the Icom 7610 radio?
    The HDSDR software is run on the computer that is locally attached to the Icom IC-7610 radio. Can you use remote control software with a second computer to connect to the locally connected computer to remote control your Icom IC-7610 from a remote location. Or, do you have to use the $150 Icom BA-1 version 2 software to remotely control the Icom IC-7610 radio from a remote location over the Internet?

    Will the 7610 run Ham Radio Deluxe and HDSDR at the same time? Currently running a Flex 6500 and thinking of playing with the 7610 but want to run HDSDR and HRD at the same time if possible...I am good on QRZ

    Hi Rich, Great stuff re the HDSDR ,have a question you say disable OmniRig etc ,
    But am using OmniRig to control my 7610 for my logging Programme that is Lg4OM ,
    is the disable only for the HDSDR prog, can I still have OmniRig active for my Log Prog?

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  4 роки тому

      Yes it is ICOM instructions that do not use OMNIRig. However, I used it instead of their solution and it worked fine. CWS will also use it just fine. 73 from Tucson Arizona!

    Could you start your video about what are the benefits and features of HDSDR, SRDUNO, and things like that as an introduction of why it's a good idea to install these applications? How long did the firmware update take, and did it go smoothly? There's a risk to the firmware update, if it goes bad, you have to ship your 7610 to Washington state to have it repaired, maybe have repair costs, shipping costs, and downtime. The video screen capture is very blurry. Is there anything that you could do to make the screen capture more clear?
    Thanks for your very helpful videos. I think if you spent just a little bit of time at the beginning of the video, you could tell us why it's a fantastic idea to try those new applications!
    I did have a problem with the WSJT-X configuration that might help others. I heard about it on the HRD forum. If your 7610 reverts from USB-D1 to USB by itself, you cannot transmit with WSJT-X. The solution for this very annoying problem is to go into the WSJT-X configuration, "Radio" tab, then "Modes" tab, then select "None". The annoying problem where WSJT-X cannot transmit when the 7610 switches by itself from USB-D1 to USB, will be fixed! The 7610 will stay on USB-D1!

      Dave Borchard Hi, You get a bigger picture on a monitor screen, it’s easier/faster to click on signals with the mouse, you can see more than on the LCD, HDSDR can be integrated with CWSkimmer, etc. and etc. See the link in the description to my video for the firmware update, it went very smoothly. No issues. Warning in the video. Video is not blurry. Please increase the resolution of the video playback in UA-cam player. 1080p is the preferred setting. Thank you for your input and I appreciate your watching the videos. I hope they are helpful and I hope everything is good where you are. Please be safe and best 73!

      Hi William, thanks for coming here and you will not be able to set up HRD/WSJTX using the USB3 port on the ICOM 7610. Rig control only works on the USB2 port. So you will have two cables. I hope this helps 73!

    On those USB 3.0 cables do you have to have chokes on both ends, because I thought read somewhere you are suppose to. Also, I’m going to be having an IC-9700 sitting next to my 7610 once I order mine. 73 Ben K0BLR

    With this set up will the panadapter track with movements in the 7610's vfo? Or do you have to change display frequencies via the HDSDR?

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  4 роки тому

      Nice to hear from you and I hope all is well where you are. There are a couple of ways, but the short answer is yes. They will track each other. Take care be safe and best 73!

      @@HamRadioAdventures. Well let me ask a much more precise question: Once set up per your fine instructions can I just use my 7610 vfo dial while the frequency on the HDSDR monitor will follow? --end-- Currently, I am using the panafall on the 7610 now and expanding that to a direct connect monitor but it seems redundant to have the same display on the 7610 and a larger version of it on the monitor. Although the upside is that I am not using any of my precious three video ports on the station computer. Does that make sense? Thanks for your answers.

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  4 роки тому

      Edward Savela Yes that makes perfect sense. In the HDSDR ExtIO choose “Full sync in both directions” That is how I normally use it. Take care, be safe and best 73!

      The HDSDR website has two different downloads dated March 19, 2020. One says V1, the the V2. Which one should I use? Thanks!

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  4 роки тому

      Edward Savela That’s a very good question and it depends on what version of Omni-rig you use. I am using v1.19 so I download the version of HDSDR for v1. Thanks for the question and best 73!

    I discovered that my problem appears to be an audio setting in my desk too computer . After a week of trying everything I could think of, I went out and bought a new laptop . I installed HDSDR , Icom drivers , and CE Skimmer and 170 kHz CW Skimmer works as per Icom’s instructions for the 7610 . For those asking , this will NOT work with a 7300).

    I am anxious for the skimmer video because for the life of me do not get the desired skimmer results when i try to set up "wide" CW skimming.

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  5 років тому

      What problem are you running into Andrew?

    • @obrienaj
      @obrienaj 5 років тому +1

      The 24 Khz option for CW Skimmer works as advertised , however as you know many people would want to "skim" a whole CW band segment . So Icom describes a 170 Khz capability. When I match their instructions as precisely as I can the end result is no audio of CW signals is displayed in the CW Skimmer waterfall. Icom's illustration shows a setting of the LO being set at 7006 and tune om 7085 in HDSDR, radio dial set to 7006. CW Skimmer's "radio" set to "Softrock" with audio IF of zero and LO in Cw Skimmer set for same as tune frequency in HDSDR. When I press start in CW Skimmer I see no signals despite HDSDR and the 7610 showing many CW signals. If i slowly change the TUNE frequency in HDSDR I eventually see CW signals in the CW Skimmer waterfall., but not until i have the HDSDR tune frequency down to around 7037 . When HDSDR is tuned to around 7037 the signals i do see do not match the frequency scale in CW Skimmer. For example, I see FT8 signals in the skimmer waterfall at 7030 or so, not the actual 7074 . So i am interested in what you discover. 73 de Andy K3UK

      same here. I've been assuming it is something I've been doing incorrectly - some setting preventing me from getting 170khz.
