In the video three ways are shown to use a receiving antenna with the Icom 7610. One way is using the main receiver only and tapping the antenna soft button for one second to switch back-and-forth between the main antenna and receiving antenna. Another way is to use Dualwatch and listen to both antennas simultaneously, and the third way is to use Dualwatch with Tracking.
I'm an Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love the hobby and experimenting with radios, antennas and software. I have a lot of fun. On my UA-cam channel I upload videos mostly on the Icom 7300 and Icom 7610 as well as Ham Radio software programs. I hope to inspire people to get involved in Amateur Radio.

How about the audio. One rx in left speaker and the other rx in the right? Can you combine the two audio channels?

Very cool video!! A cool tip..if you hold down change button it will put 2nd receiver into a temp tracking mode. Once you move VFO it will not track, but allows me to hear in stereo with two speakers without turning on tracking.

Good video . But it would be nice to have dual spectrum scopes up as well. I hope to setup a receiving antenna soon. On my 7610.

Hi and hoping you can answer a question for me, I see that the 7610 has two external speaker jacks. Are they designated main and sub or if you have two external speakers connected and listening to either just main or sub will the audio play out of both? Do you use an external speaker or do you find the internal one adequate? Thanks in advance 73 David W5DPV.
I David, it’s nice to hear from you and thank you for watching. I haven’t use the external speaker jacks in a long time. The internal speaker works fine for me. I do use a headset when I need to. If I remember right, at one time I had a combiner (y-cable) attached at the rear so I could listen to both at the same time coming out of my Bose speakers. I hope this helps. Hi Mark, thanks for commenting here. Yes it does. Just turn L/R Mix OFF in the radio. The radio does not have two speakers, but it will work with headphones or with external speakers attached at the rear. Best 73!
So I have a 7610 and I’m putting up a 2nd antenna. I use a LDG external tuner. I’m trying to figure out how to configure coax from the radio to tuner. Something automatic so if I hit ant 2 on the screen, it’s now using that antenna. The ldg has a tx port and 2 antenna ports. I’m confounded.
Hello and thank you for commenting and thank you for watching this video. You will only be able to hook up the LDG pro to the number one antenna jack on the back of the radio. It stays there while you use the LDG. To switch antennas on the LDG you have to push the antenna button on the LDG and it will switch from one antenna to the other that is connected to the LDG. The second antenna connector on the back of the ICOM 7610 can be used for something else. I have a beam hooked up to it. My wire antennas are hooked up to the LDG. I know this sounds confusing, but I hope it is of some help. Let me know and the 73!
@@HamRadioAdventures Yes that helps. My 2nd antenna is/will be a Myantennas 160/40 EFHW. MA,s claims you don’t need a tuner. But they say it needs to be min 50ft up. Most of it will be as it’s gonna wind it’s way through trees in my back yard so I’m gonna try going direct out from the ant 2 port on the radio and bypass the external tuner and see what happens. If that works then I’ll configure the radio to use ant 2 when I’m on 160 80 60 or 40m. Thx for the quick response. 73s.
Is the RX antenna i put "protected" from RF? If one wzs running an amp, could there be a problem cooking the front end, or does one need a protective device? NS2N
Hi Paul. The internal circuitry in the 7610 switches it off. No worries and nothing needed. 73!
@@HamRadioAdventures Hi Paul, thanks for the very informative video! I been told by an Icom engineer not to use my MLA 30+ loop receive antenna for RX in combination with my EFHW for TX, if I can't have them at least 10 meters apart (which in my case I can't) He told me that even if the antenna's are at least 10 meters apart I should use a RF limiter. I'm not going to try if this is correct .. My RX and TX are only 4 meters apart and I do not TX when the MLA is hooked up.

Thanks for that tracking tip! I did not know that! Quick question.... so how would I use the RX ant out jack?
Long story short, attach another SDR, like the SDRplay. You'll need something like a Mini Circuits ZSC-2-2+ Power Splitter. 73!

what do you use for a receive antenna?
Hi David, I am using an inverted Vee up about 40 ft. and at one time I had an inverted L longwire for listening. I tried buidling a loop but it didn't work as well as I thought it should. It's probably my location in the town of Pierre and my noisy neighbors lol. Best 73!
