So cool that Booker T produced Rita's older sister's album. He used to live in Mendocino.. along with Bonnie Raitt, Gene Parsons ( Elk Ca. ) Also Gene Clark.. and Michael Equine ( Cat Mother ).✌
Love love Lulu ! If I had extra copies of early Cher.. I would send them to you ! Interesting how Wiki gets it wrong from time to time ! I need this Lulu LP .. So good Hedley ! "Where's Eddie" is a nice track as well. Early Rita Coolidge LP's are great ! She was part of the "Mad Dogs And Englishmen" Tour.. She wrote the Coda to Layla that she never got credit for co- writing. E.C. might have changed that because I'm sure he is aware of it. I love your passion for my kind of music !
Cheers! The Rita Coolidge albums are easy to pick up dirt cheap. There was a recent reissue of Cher's 3614 Jackson Highway with a second record of outtakes and other extras, which is great.
Good to see you back! I think your cat was excited about your first video in six months! I'm a big fan of Dusty In Memphis, but I didn't know anything else you showed here. Every needle drop sounds great. Thanks!
Thanks, David, it's nice to get back in the saddle and mumble about records again. Bloody cat! What you didn't see was me getting fed up of his interjections and chucking him out of the room, only for him to continue to interrupt my recording by scratching at the door.
I love that Cher album. Was lucky enough to find an original not long ago. I always see those Rita Coolidge albums at Goodwill (thrift stores here) but always pass them by. Will have to grab one the next time I see it. All I know of Lulu is To Sir With Love, which I hate like poison. Obviously there’s more to her than just that. Good to see you back making videos. Hope all is well with you and yours. Take care and keep ‘em spinning.
Thanks, Jonathan, things are okay, we're getting things sorted out. There's a nice laid back southern soul feel to those early Rita Coolidge albums. You can hear the influence of Delaney & Bonnie, and they're a real who's who of the LA scene. The best thing about them is they're cheap and cheerful. Hed
Really liked that Sandra Rhodes song..i've definitely seem that album ar a fair, but wasn't familiar with her. I had a Booker T & Precilla album which was a double and had a great track called The Wedding Song, but the rest wasn't all that. Good seeing you Hedley ( and your cat clearly wanting in on the action!).
Hi Rob, thanks for swinging by. That Sandra Rhodes album is great. The country is soulful enough not to frighten the rock crowd. Although I could do without the cover of the Stones' You Can't Always Get What You Want. Not that it's bad, but there were 5 extra original tracks on the 2014 CD reissue from the album sessions which could've replaced it. I picked up a later Priscilla Coolidge-Jones, which had its moments but not really up my street...So I palmed it off onto John. Cheers - Hedley
Thanks Hedley. I am trying to think if I have anything that fits here. I do have the New Routes album, and the next two Rita Coolidge, and the Booker T & Priscilla 2LP album, but seems that I am always a year late. Have not seen the Gypsy Queen LP. I think I missed John's video, so I am heading there now. - Chris
Hi Hedley! I’d love that Cher Muscle Shoals album. Never see it in the wild and I’m not a big buyer online so will continue looking for it. Funny you should recommend the first three Rita Coolidge albums. I have them and more. I had no idea on her sister Priscilla! That needle drop is all I needed to add it to my want list. ✌️
Hey! Cher's 3614 Jackson Highway was reissued back in 2019 as a 2 disc edition with loads of extra tracks, you might be able to find a copy of that....If not, there's a German edition with a crap cover. Cheers - Hedley
Dusty Rhodes was a famous American wrestler (entertainer). The only rock person I can think of is Randy Rhoads. Loved all these track samples. Fantastic response, Hedley. ✌🏻
Yes, I knew I'd heard the name before. I was never into wrestling, although I used to watch UK wrestling when I was young. It was all rather bargain basement compared to the later US example. Our wrestlers were basically overweight middle-aged men, with names like Big Daddy, Giant Haystack and Kendo Nagasaki. Fun stuff.
Hey! Yeah, Maggie Bell might well fit in. Definitely her first solo album on Atlantic. Jerry Wexler produced that and Reggie Young plays some guitar. Cheers - Hedley
Never been a big fan of Lulu even though i own a copy of her cover of the man who sold the world and liking the song the boat that i row but that needle drop of hers you did was great,i really enjoyed it.....i need to investigate that album further me thinks👍👍👍 The Priscilla tune was great too,i loved what i heard there....kind of blues & soul i thought,so that LP needs investigation too 😁 Cheers Hedley 👍👍👍
Hey Nick. Lulu's 60s career is, like a lot of artists from those days, quite varied. Her albums have a bit of everything on them. A couple of cheesy tunes, a lot of passable pop and a couple of killer tracks. But these two Atco albums buck that trend. Cheers - Hedley

great to have you back! and thanks for the suggestions, will try to find them.

Great cut on that Gypsy Queen LP. Cheers.
Yeah, top tune 👍
Great to see you back. Love the music you love!
Thanks. It's good to be back in the swing of things.
Hi Hedley
Welcome back. Good seeing you again! Greeat needle drops! Thumbs up! Trish
Aw, thanks Trish, that's very kind of you.

Hey! It's good to be back in the saddle again. Hopefully it won't be so long until my next outing.
Cheers - Hedley
Hi, so glad you‘re back!!
Hey! Thanks, that's very kind of you.
Good to see you Hedley - nice video.. especially the cat-bloopers-reel at the end. Cheers - D
Thanks, David, it's nice to get back in the saddle and mumble about records again.
Bloody cat! What you didn't see was me getting fed up of his interjections and chucking him out of the room, only for him to continue to interrupt my recording by scratching at the door.
Welcome back to the party. I've saved you a seat in the corner where we can chat about country records.
Cheers,
Jacob
Hey Jacob!
No one puts Hedley in the corner!...You dont need to, I'm probably already lurking in a corner. I like corners.
@@anotherfatbeardedmantalkin5893 Even better if it's a corner booth.

@@anotherfatbeardedmantalkin5893 - I’ve got a new video up of a collection I got for free !

Thanks for swinging by Chris. Aw, you don't need to watch John's video, I cover that in the first couple of minutes here 😉

I was impressed with that Lulu song. I was not familiar with Sandra Rhodes or Rita Coolidge's sister.
Hey! The Sandra Rhodes album is a little beauty. It was reissued, just on CD, but with a bunch of extra tracks.
Cheers - Hedley
John clearly showed the hipster ones and you've gone underground and deeper. Our cat meows more these days he seems to have found his voice.....
I'm pretty sure I out hipster John. At least, so he tells me.
