Huge shout out to Simplisafe for sponsoring these parts....whoops, I mean this video. I trust them to protect my home and highly recommend you guys to check them out too ! If you do, make sure to use simplisafe.com/chase . Stay safe fam!
Hey Chase, I’ve had my MT10 for a year and a half now so here are some of my suggestions. Rearsets- Lightech is a good way to go Passenger peg delete- Sato racing racing hooks Exhaust- be careful and make sure you get something that sits flush with the bike, there is potential to scrape when cornering, but for sound honestly any exhaust sounds good on these things. Brakes- brembo master cylinder and core steel braided brake lines Engine protection- woodcraft Levers- be careful some levers will not engage the small push button on the brake side causing the cruise control to not work Suspension- KTech, take a trip to NC and get setup from fast bike industries. They setup some motoamerica guys suspensions. Extras - rhinomoto barends and crg arrow mirrors. CustomLED/BlasterX integrated taillight. For the tune, just go with a 2Wheeldynoworks mailin ECU flash. 90 degree valve stems.
hey man you get your steel braided brake lines from Core?? i looked on oficial site and cant find for mt10 you get them make you custom ones?? and how much for them thx mate
Jakub Bašta I haven’t got em yet, but you can contact them and give the line dimensions and they will make them. If you don’t know the dimensions needed or how to ask there is a right up on the MT 10 forum that you can use. There’s been multiple people to go through core so they might have the dimensions on hand.
MT10 Touring owner here :) Will focus on the tour part of things mostly. Large Yamaha screen: might look odd at first, but honestly I like it myself. Wind protection is decent till about 160kph for my hight (174 cm). Comfort seat: Oh hell yeah, I love that thing. Test rode it with the original seat, and god the comfort seat is just so much better. One thing though, some other MT10 owners do use the standard seat for track, as it is easier to move around. Hand protection: The tourer comes with hand guards, you might want to look into those, they are original yamaha parts Luggage: I have to original yamaha stuff what you want to grab. They are pretty good I think, but if I may suggest an alternative it would be the SW motech Blade panniers. They have a different system to secure the panniers to the bike and I heared good things about them from other Yamaha owners (MT10's and MT09's as well). As for the original ones, they can be somewhat iffy to remove, also you will have the holding bracket on the bike, and since you wanted to remove the footpegs I think that might be an issue :) Protection: I have R&G racing stuff (front axle guard, crash bobbins, engine case sliders, rear bobbins for lifting the bike and it also doubles as protection for the rear). Yamaha ones are good as well, but these guys made a video where they dropped the bike at around 30 something mph and that was pretty damn impressive. You might want to check them out too. I used oxford heated grips on my previous bike, might grab them for the MT10 at some point but with the hand guards at the moment I do not feel the need for that. However, they heat up pretty well and get your hands warm. They are not intergrated as the Yamaha ones but they are better in any onther way. Also cheaper, I might add. Looking forward to the videos what you will do with the MT10. Keep up the good work, and hope your allergies will be somewhat bearable the very least! Have a good one!
Woodcraft sliders are amazing quality and look so much better than GarBage Racing. I have the engine and frame sliders on my FZ10. Yamaha heated grips don't get as warm as some aftermarket brands but they still work well enough. The comfort seat is worth every penny, it's fantastic. MRA's racing windscreen is a good balance of sport and touring, and I think it looks better than the Puig. You won't get better gas mileage with any mods, even with a tune. 2 wheel dyno works is a great tuner if you're not going local. Bar end mirrors are the best mod you're missing, also flush mount turn signals. The Proton 500's like Jake has are great.
before you do ANYTHING with the suspension i suggest you check up on David Moss tuning, he often encounters mt10s at the track, or maybe even do a collab with him. hes very well educated and i would be surprised if you are unfamiliar with his stuff (here on youtube)
I've had my 2017 FZ10 for 2 years. Yamaha comfort seat is great. Did 2200 miles from Wisconsin to Tennessee and back last September. No problem. Yamaha mid-height screen is decent. Looks good and does the job. I did the SW Motech Blaze saddlebags. Easy to install. When you don't need them, there's no brackets taking away from the look of the bike. Comes with waterproof bags. Expensive but highly recommend. Also used Kreiga US20 with the Blaze bags. Yosh slip on sounds awesome. Woodcraft slides. Good luck!
Mine started out as a street fighter, ended up with a touring set up. Mirrors are junk, super happy with my rizoma bar ends mirrors. Most saddle bag will get burnt up by exhaust or accommodate a tail tidy. For Akra or stock, I recommend kreiga us 20 or 30 strapped down. I went with a shorty sp engineering slung low exhaust and sw motech saddle bags that works very well. I put the rear rack on with a rotax cherry can. By adding the rack I can strap down a kreiga bag, etc.. and max out my km without worrying running out. Asis and cat delete. I add dynojet tuner with o2 sensor and evotech rad and cooler guards, frame sliders, swing arm spools, levers and Yamaha qs shifter, comfort seat, touring windscreen and heated grips. Powder coated sets and anything else that wasn't black. Ram x-mount on the fork. I am shopping for engine case protection. Rizoma hands down the is the best, just pricey. Has anyone tried the throttle tube or handle bar upgrade??? Al
I had the K&N filter on my MT10, got another 5HP by swapping it out for a Sprint P 08 (Dyno tested), similar price, way better performance, also installed a Dimsport Rapid Bike EVO Racing harness. For canyon carving, this is the best mod I've ever done to the bike, huge low end power and torque gains, I'm also lucky to have the SP model with the electronic Ohlins suspension, wow, these are fantastic
Recently picked up my FZ/MT10 and done a decent amount of mods to it. I'd recommend keeping the stock OE air filter as a-lot of other owners have complained that the K&N lets too much dust and sand particles through into the engine. I also would recommend doing the Graves block off kits and getting ECU re-flashed (I did mine with 2 wheel Dynoworks) so that you can delete the AIS, O2 sensors, and exhaust servo since all that junk adds up to a decent amount of weight
There are a couple musts (decat&pipes, ECU flash and a front brake upgrade), the rest is up to taste. Here's what I've mostly done to my 2019 MT10sp so far: - Akrapovic decat kit + slip-on - Brembo RCS19 master cylinder (you need a relay custom kit for the electronics) + GP4 RX calipers (you need spacers, 7mm) + T-drive disc rotors - Brembo clutch lever - HEL braided lines (front and back) - Lightech R reasets, Lightech chain adjusters, Lightech carbon cover's kit (engine, clutch and pickup) - Rizoma genesi mirrors and some other misc cockpit parts - R&G sliders and spools - Racetorx shift support (a must for smoother shifts!) and Racetorx rear pillion blanks - Pyramid Plastics seat cowl and fairing panels - Motovision Carbon parts (front + rear fenders, etc.) - a few Yamaha/Giles Tooling stock parts (tail tidy, wheel sliders, etc.) Also .. a proper ECU flash, gained 15+ HP and flattened the power curve very well!
I have the same 2019 mt10 color and just went through these mods for the same purposes. I did the same Yamaha saddlebags you showed and they are perfect. They actually compliment the look. They are durable too. I had a spare fuel bottle in there that all leaked out of gas in the bag. I thought it would be toast. No problem at all. Perfect shape still, just the smell took awile. I got the comfort seat too, and it is taller which is good for me, and way better. Plus it looks premium it is like an alcantara material. I got the puig touring windscreen, smoked, which I love since you put the two body colored shields on top of it looks stock. I did the Yoshi pipe since it is from Yamaha and says MT10 on it. Sounds good. Left the cat for now but disconnected the EXUP and wired the valve open. I wish I had the heated grips. Now the top case - It does not block the passenger seat. It mounts on a rack behind the bike. I just put that on. Looks good and a great grab handle for passenger.
Have myself a 2016 MT10 Fully loaded with mods now. It's truly been a fantastic bike for the last few years and 35k miles. Just my opinion on essential mods which worked well for me anyway; R1 front master cylinder and R1m calipers (i use brembo pads but i've heard sbs are really good!) Akra decat link pipe and end can AND R1 titanium headers (just looks cool) and a woolich ecu flash If you plan on taking anyone on the back, Do them a favour and grab some tracer 900 foot pegs. They fit straight on and hang lower than the MT10 ones. There's so many things you can do to this bike. But most importantly, Get on it and enjoy it! Take it easy Chace
Chase if your short the comfort seat will increase the seat height. So either get the stock one customed or buy the. Comfort one and get that customed remove some foam and get a gel pad fitted. I recommend the 3/4 yoshimura system titanium. The the suspension set up to your weight. Radiator guard and oil cooler guard is a must. Headlight covers due to the headlights are prone to stone chips. Don't change the rear sprocket to a aluminium one. The Mt10 will rip the teeth of it. Stick to steel or supersprox. Strada 7 leavers are very good value for money. Bar end mirrors is a must. Get the bike remaped and Woolwich tool kit fitted. Don't get a remapped ecu. Take the bike to get it dyno ecu remapped. You can get extra bhp for the airbox mod and a decent airfilter when you get it remapped.
The exhaust is my favourite mod. When you did the Graves exhaust on the ZX10R, I loved how it sounded so much that I went with the graves exhaust for my R6
You forgot 90 degree valve stems, if you plan on riding a lot (as you mentioned in the video multiple times) then installing valve stems would save your knuckles every time you check your tire pressure. Also you can install these pretty easily during any tire change, so its a cheap and relatively easy mod that makes your life a lot easier, they also look nice too.
I got my FZ10 in 2017 because of your review. I'm so excited you got this bike. It's phenomenal! I got my Yoshimura race exhaust for mine and it's incredible. I love the sound for it. I also installed the K&N filter. The good thing about this bike is your able to use R1 upgrades for that bike. Not all but some. I'm excited for this build. It's definitely my fun to ride. Going from a GSXR to Fz10. I also put in a Lithium battery because the stock battery is garbage. Especially on cold starts.
Owned an MT10 since it was first released. It's an amazing bike and at 24,000 miles it's been amazingly reliable. Many owners here in England have got great power gains with a decat, and ECU refresh.
hey chase, i own a mt10 myself and for luggage i use the SW-Motech blaze paniers, they come with their own mouting brackets which are quite easy to remove, also i use a tankbag from them with a quicklock system which they sell in diffrent sizes. And that is most likey enough room to fit your camera gear in so you can leave the panniers at home when you just go out for a day
Lightech chain adjusters for sure! Yoshimura sounds really good too Don't worry about the lightweight chain and sprockets, they wear out quick Brembo breaks and steal lines Woodcraft engine protection Ohlins suspension Sargent/Saddlemen seat
Lower handlebars help handling and wind blast-i used renthal ultralows,a friend used the woodcraft kit.suspension and tires, bike seems to like Pirelli Toro Rossi 2.put on ohlins front and rear.any full system exhaust is super loud and slip on makes no difference.ecu flash helps throttle control.braided lines are a must.light tech rearsets are way overpriced, their chain adjusters are awesome
Finally I'm Looking to get a MT-07 Cause I just dont have enough riding experience or "Control of Road Rage" for a MT10 right now lol but I test road a MT07 and fell in love with the MT series and hope to eventually have all the MT series that are available in the US Thanks Chase & the Gang!
I’m on my second MT10. Get the SW Motech street rack for the back, fits with Yamaha panniers as they make them for Yamaha. Great stuff. Defo get the oil cooler as well as the rad guard. The Yamaha touring screen is brilliant get one of those for distance.
If you aren't looking for a top box, you could look into some tail bags. I got one of the Kreiga US line tail bags on my FZ1 and like it. The whole line is waterproof and stackable and some variants turn into a travel bag. You can also use it as a tank bag if you get a tank mount for when you have a pillion.
For chain / sprocket after 13,000 miles factory chain broke. Switched chain and sprockets to 520, RK-MAX-X RX-Ring and Yamaha driven sprockets. Though did change gearing from 16/43 to 17/42. Did make huge difference in feel of power delivery, more controlled and also keeps engine rpm down at cruising speeds and I’ve picked up 2mpg over the last 1300 miles since the swap. Other mods 2wheeldynoworks ecu flash, tidy tail, blaster x Integrated tail light, BMC race filter, AIS block off plates from graves, link pipe / cat removal, power commander 5 and the auto tuner AT200. Waiting to weld in the wide band o2 Monday as I know fueling is off with other mods not listed. But those are some basic starts for track days or ripping
Side note fz-10 owner 15,280 miles as of yesterday. I take 3k mike trip from Wisconsin to Florida through Texas and back every year. Never worried about wind screen on trip as helmet blocks that. Don’t use magnetic tank bag from cortex will scratch tank found that out last year
SW motech bags. Great when you want them, brackets come off when you don't. I have then on my s1000r and done 3000 miles in a week. They did great and came with water proof bags.
Consider the MRA windscreen. It can be used as the race as the mountain riding windscreen. I have it and have been happy with it. It's not that tall but has a nice lip that angles the air up more. imo it looks the best too. For your ECU flash 2 wheel dyno works is going to be the best option. The comfort seat is definitely worth the buy. Same with all the protective bits you mentioned.
Suggestions: Brakes... Just pads won't be enough. Get R1 or Brembo RCS 19 radial master cylinder + braided brake lines. You can also install Brembo M4 callipers as well if you need more braking power. Suspension and shock... Actually, just changing springs (front and rear) will be sufficient. Don't have to spend a lot on it. Inner mechanisms work well. Get springs based on your weight and have a pro to set the suspension up for you. MRA windscreen... MRA is one of the companies who use a wind tunnel to design their screens. Once you tune the mapping, add a rapid bike race or power commander type device which adjusts the mapping according to prevailing conditions in real time.
Sprint Air Filter... K&N's technology is stone-age compared to Sprint Filters, which are F1 and MotoGP tech actually. Plus you will find their prices not so far from K&Ns.
Just a couple of thoughts. The Akropovic would be the way to go because of they way they test and manufacture their pipes. They don't just tune for sound, they tune for all the rest of the things that make the bike better to ride. That they sound amazing is a bonus! If you are looking for an ECU tune Ivan's Performance would be a great choice. He's very thorough, and the customer service is excellent. I got one on my Z1000SX and the difference was night and day.
Quarantined project: 08 sv650 full maintenance top to bottom, arg arrow bar end mirrors, ram mount for phone, go racing engine covers and spools, brake refresh, m4 full exhaust system, power commander fuel controller..did it all myself and then fuel pump crapped out. $831 for the part. Should be back on the road Friday.
I just did 3400 miles on a MT09 about 2 months ago, almost all highway. If you plan on long distance touring I'd always error on the side of more storage. You can carry a spare gas can and some basic tools incase of a breakdown. Also, the Yamaha comfort seats for the MT line aren't as good as some other seats that are out there, I have a Sargeant that I rode across the country on. I've done a fair amount of customization to mine as well and would love to share photos if interested.
I have 2017 FZ10. Roughly 20000 on her. Comfort seat is a must slightly wider and higher but well worth it is your 5'10 or taller. I've had the cheepo quick adjust levers and they work but have a bit of wiggle play switched out for asv shortys and are so much better, fine adjustments and feel solid. Steel brake lines a great improvement oem has little bite off the beginning I can't see pads making a huge difference without rotors and cylinder to match but lines alone can help a fair amount. Puig race windscreen makes a great tucking bubble as for upright riding the wind is almost right in your face 6'1 rider. If had a few different chain/sprocket set ups and you won't notice the weight unless your at the track all the time. Oem 16f 43r 114links great track and regular riding 17f 43r 116 links for touring still all around riding too. I've had a Yoshi 3/4 and it was amazing quality ending up going two brothers 3/4 after a small accident and I dont want another exhaust. Two brothers is deep throaty really compliments the cross plane crank but you really can't go wrong with any of the big name exhausts, as for air filters ive seen some contradiction, race allows too much air and injection can't be matched at low/mid end but top end gets a good bump, as with oem air filter you can tune a better setup with a new exhaust to just match them up and keep bottom end and top end with slight increase seeing as the bike only revs 11800 - 12200 flashed mid range is a must and low end is a touring/mountain must. 150mph is very scary on that beast and anything over is just setting yourself up for windy speed wobbles.
Chase, you might consider a tank bag. These are super handy on an upright machine. You can get them with a mounting ring and they are easily attached and unattached which allows you to carry them along. Just big enough to take house keys, garage door opener, wallet, bottle of water.....GoPro batteries? Had one on my S1000R and miss it ever since.
Having used soft saddlebags on a naked bike for a while, get something that has a little rigidity like the Yamaha ones. Supports are also essential. No matter how well you jury rigged it on this time, won't stop the bags from sagging down onto the rear wheel in 700mi. Been there, done that.
In terms of the saddle bags, on my 2017 FZ-10 I use the SW-Motech Blaze system. They work great, look good and they easily are removed leaving just a very low profile bracket by the passenger pegs behind if you don't want to use them that day. That being said, to use these you need to have the passenger pegs mounted. I like how the only mounting point on these is at the passenger pegs though. The two bags velcro to each other across the top of the rear portion of the seat making the need to have hard mount support at the back of the bike unnecessary. Just wanted to share my experience from an FZ-10 owner to an MT-10 owner. Good luck with the build! P.S. Also, Motodynamic integrated tail light is the best one I have come across for this bike IMO. You can set different modes for the turn signals (solid flash, sequential) and also different modes for the brake light (solid on/off, strobe alert where it flashes 3 times when you initially hit the brake).
I have had the MT-10 for over a year. I changed the break and clutch levers and the cruise control stopped working. There is a sensor on both of these that might not work with other brand of levers than stock. If you want to take someone else on the back you really need to lower those passenger pegs, just look how high they are. Yo girl is going to have her knee caps up to her head :P
A lot of people I know with the MT10 put "Racetorx Yamaha MT10 / R1 shift shaft support" on the bike. From their website: Description: The shift support limits deflection on the gear selector output shaft. Thus helping prevent miss shifts, false neutrals and even giving smoother gear changes. Aesthetically pleasing with hard anodizing for corrosion protection.
MT-10SP owner here. evotech radiator and oil cooler guard, the stock oil cooler guard is doing nothing the R1(m) headers fit the mt-10 and are titanium, removing the cat will make the bike allot lighter keep the chain as it is Woolich race tools is awesome Screen is not needed for riding fast, better get a screen for touring for touring you can get the Yamaha touring package that comes with everything you need for touring and storage, suspension wise, the stock suspension i good but you could always get better springs in the front and rear the brakes of the mt-10 are fine (it stops faster then the 1290SDR) pads is a good upgrade but keep in mind that you cant get the air out of the abs pump on a safe way without the official Yamaha software keep in mind that there is a possibility that the engine protectors might not fit anymore when you fit the bellypan
IMO... go short or long on the wind shields.. medium tends to put the wind in your face... luv the mt 10...but i went with the tracer 900..more practical for what i want...great vid as usual...
One thing that's going to be cheap but so worth it. A dash display flip or "sp mod". It's less then $20 for the film and it's so much better. I had 10 for one day before I did it. So much better. I ran the flip on my 09 too. It's easier to see in the day and night. I will be posting it on the MT10 FZ10 Facebook page if you wanna see the difference.
Bro, for performance upgrades grab the full akro pipe, upgrade the air filter, and tune. It’s the most performance and weight savings you’ll get short of adding a turbo or a supercharger. Also at some point swap the rims to carbon fiber.
I've got the Akrapovich muffler & link pipe with a BMC air filter. Definitely get the comfort seat and ECU flash to take out that twitchy throttle response. But get ready cause that thing with become a torque beast!
Hope you do a series like you do with the RBR but the MT10 Build. I have the exact same bike. One thing I will tell you and you already know is you get what you pay for. Cant wait to see what kind of shirts can come from this. The MT10 is my favorite bike I have owned! Just awesome.
I spoke to Yoshimura reps who told me that the exhaust for my ninja 650 was designed specifically for that bike therefore theres no need to tune the bike with an install of a full Yoshimura exhaust. I have also heard the same for other makes and model bikes and exhaust combinations.
Pro tip for allergies: get a cheap 20" box fan and tape a square 20" high level allergy house filter to the back of it. It's way cheaper than air purifiers and arguably more effective. You can put it in the garage and it should clean the air within a few hours.
Awesome video! I'm looking to graduate from my 09 to a 10 and videos like this give me more confidence to make the leap...... gonna miss that hooligan shit tho
Donno what you've been told in the states bud, but in the uk, Corona doesn't make you sneeze. Cough and a temperature. Stay safe brother, keep the vids coming👍
The solar battery tender probably wouldn't be of much benefit when out and about travelling. It is aimed at bikes that are stored unused for periods of time. The smaller solar panel 'chargers' aren't really chargers, they won't do a lot if the battery is depleted. They are more for offsetting any drain caused by clocks, alarms etc. If you are out on a tour or other longer journey, using the bike regularly and for longer periods will do all that's needed to keep the battery charged up. Also, top boxes sit on a rack that is mounted behind the pillion seat so you can still carry a pillion. Seat packs strap to the rear seat and would obviously prevent a pillion from sitting there. You might want to look into some sort of protection for the headlights. Just like the radiators, they can be expensive to replace if they get damaged by stones.
I have lightech on one of my track bikes, 1) I’ve crash tested them and the bolts will snap on the peg and the shifter toe 100%. Now that’s fine because when it snaps off it save the rear set from bending towards the swingarm and ruining the rear set but getting spare lightech parts is a pain in the ass... I have vortex on my other track bike and you will find that almost everyone runs vortex on their track bikes due to the fact that everyone has spare pegs for them.
Chase, you need to check out a company called SW Motech, they do saddle bags/tank bags and also tail bags and the quality is great. The saddle bags they make (blaze) also only use very small detachable frames so they are easy to take on and off and also store. I also love my tang bag it's quick release and works great (SW motech day pack) Take it easy and enjoy the mt10 is great fun, just be prepared you'll be fueling it up more times than you care to imagine 😂

You should re-valve the front forks! As the rear shock you should choose one that has easy external preload adjustment (in case you are going to ride 2 up)
You should check out SW-Motech for saddlebags, they offer really good bags with really good systems for putting on/taking off the bags. They are really good looking as well, my friend uses them on his r3 and he really loves them. They also offer tank bags with the ability for phone usage while riding which is awesome for long-distance riding! For our first mc tour, we were using google maps in talk mode through our Packtalks to guide us while riding and it was really confusing at times, his tank bag with phone accessibility has been a life savior. Keep up the good work chase, really loving it!
Add a fuel tank! LOL I've put about 20k miles on mine, biggest drawback, gotta fill up every 120miles if im easy on it. Brakes suck stock as everyone says...get a flash and QS. Most else is personal preference. My flash is from 2WDW. I run the YRT QS, not the best though. I run a cat delete and installed a baffle from I forgot who but just due to budget, aftermarket muffler or slipon is a little better sound. Good luck, love this bike!
To be honest the biggest inconvenience for me is that I have a slight cough and therefore have to stay home from work. Sweden doesn't have quarantine as many other places have. But being told to stay home sick bugs the hell out of me. I do however understand the reasons and respect it. Today was a great day and 10 degrees Centigrade outside. So I did spend a couple of hours in self Isolation on the Bike. It felt great!
Upgrade the brake master cylinder to Brembo RCS 19 corsacorta. I’ve used it an it gives a better braking feels. Also it allows the rider to tailor the “bite point” exactly where they want it, with an easily accessible selector on the top of the master cylinder itself.
GA is definitely yellow. Super excited to see how this is going to look when your done. I would absolutely love to show you some of the MTNS and the Ocoee in TN cause I feel you could have some badass scenery shots from Chilhowee MTN. PS: I am the person who sneezes 10 times back to back that you give dirty looks to cause your tired of saying bless you.
Good mods: - Akrapovic Exhaust (link pipe and end can) or full R1 system, it fits the MT10 - Graves Exhaust (Also pretty good) - Flash ecu - LightTech Foot Pegs - Domino Grips - Levers - Tyres - 520 Chain sprockt kit (for the track, for the street its just not necessary) - Translogic AutoBlipper (great for track, fun for street)
Check out the ASV levers, I spoke with RevZilla and you can't get both CRG clutch and break lever, they only have the brake one. CRG doesn't make the other one yet. Although I've been a huge fan and have used the CRGs for all my bikes it looks like its time to go ASV for my MT10
If you hit the track you might want to check any belly pan requirements for naked bikes, I've had friends tell me I'll need a belly pan if I ever go to Brainerd on my FZ
Ceramic bearings will yield more than the chain. consider adding two link to the total length of the chain if swapping chains. If your battery dies in the middle of a ride, your charging system is bad.
SW Motech makes a great set of Saddle Bags for MTs. Also if your going to change the rear shock you may want to do springs or cartridges for the forks.
I have a TwoBrothers Sr1 for my MT-10 with a DanMoto straight pipe. Sounds bad ass honestly. I have a power commander a k&n airfilter with graves block off plates. I had it Dyno tuned and its around 150 at the wheel.
Race air filter for the street isn’t a great idea. Allows for more air, however, it also allows for larger particles of debris to get into the intake and thus, the engine.
Hey Chase, has the grip warmers from Yamaha on my MT09 and they honestly don't get all that warm. I would strongly recommend Oxford's ones, much, much better.
Ramiro Tarrico Villafañe Yours don’t get that warm? I’ve got some on my MT07 and they are very warm, often can’t have them on the third light. My dad said this too with his MT10 SP and it turns out that they weren’t set properly from the garage, they can be set for different cc motorcycles so they don’t ruin the battery. To set them you hold the button for a few seconds whilst the grips are off and then you get flashing lights, you should set this to three. I don’t know if you have done this but they are very warm on mine.
I like the ermax belly pan fairings over the puig ones. You might want to look into headlight protection. They are notorious for getting hit or cracked.
For engine and crash protection, look at GBRacing. A lot of teams in British Superbikes use their stuff and it will give your bike about as much protection as is possible, but looks a lot better than R&G stuff. Also, if you're going to be fitting an Ohlins unit at the rear (always a good idea) then you will want to look at getting at the very minimum an upgraded valve and spring kit for your forks, or at best a full Ohlins or similar cartridge kit 👍
You should check out the SW Motech Blaze saddlebags. Had a pair on my Street Triple R, loved them! Don’t reguire a big ugly bracket installed, just a small one on each passenger peg
Bro, if you change the break pads, change the break hose too. i got my MT-10 2016 model first black in my country. if you go hard on your break it will get spongy, i fit in HELL break hose. its amazing
I just spent over an hour trying to get my chain slack right and making sure it was straight yesterday after cleaning the chain. I wish Lightech made adjusters for older bikes! 07 Ninja 650R has no options.
What I would give to see a legacy Chase on two Wheels video. Like riding maybe??? The days of you riding with your friends seems to be over. Alas, all you seem to produce is rebuilds/Yamaha bike borrow/lid review.. When was the last time you actually went for a fun ride? I bet it's been a while. You used to have fun riding, and your viewers used to have fun with you... Now your videos are akin to Fortnine. We're not all here to be educated, rather entertained.
I have the (Custom LED intigrated tail light) super bright and has different strobe settings. (MRA windshield) cuts the wind down a lot on the highway and looks really aggressive. (Woolich Racing tune) is what I run on my fz10 it has auto tuning, launch control, and clutchless down shifting. I run a (Brocks Exhaust 3/4 system) I love the deep sound but it's not too loud. Lastly the stock tires are trash, I put (Dunlap Q3+) for street riding, and I'm close to 5000 miles on the rear wheel and it still has some meat left.
Chase, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you've mentioned a ton of track experience. You mention a crazy Ohlins shock, rearsets, a pipe and tune, brakes, and a bunch of other stuff to make the bike "track-ready". None of that shit matters without tires. You can't take advantage of a good shock/aren't gonna be leaning over enough for rearsets to be necessary/don't need any more power until you have good tires. For the love of god, make the tires your first purchase (I can personally attest to SuperCorsas being amazing). New brake pads are also important, but getting an Ohlins shock before you have good tires, stainless brake lines, and high performance brake fluid for a bike you're taking to the track is having your priorities seriously messed up.
i got the RC2 short grips from fortnine last season for my cbr and they are great quality. hard to say if its worth the big increase in price over lesser ones but it sure does feel and look nice.
Don't know about the rear shock because you don't have track day experience.... Go to a person that know how to step up suspension first... then when you have experience check what Ohlins has to offer... also check out the Nitron suspensions... also pretty good....
dude i know one that you need is a corbin seat it will hit all the marks for track touring and mountian mine on my fz-09 has saved my back and two brothers sounds amazing and can use the db killer in like 3 mins from track to touring easy
Austin Racing Exhaust MRA windscreen Louimoto seat covers and gel inserts TST Industries fender eliminator kit Graves frame sliders TST bar ends and axle protection. These are the ideas I have for the MT10 I plan on getting this summer.....what'cha think?
sliders can grab in the gravel or dirt making your bike flip. which would cause more damage. but you're gonna do more street with the bike anyway, so doen't matter.. If your doing the brakes, do steel braded lines. pads are good for not losing bite at high temps, but lines give you a better feel thats not like squeezing a sponge. The race windscreen is gonna make more air go towards your face on street and highway riding. And the "drag reduction" your gonna have on those couple of straights aren't gonna give you better times. Good cornering will and you won't have much benefit on that windscreen with your helmet left or right of it... i reccomend a big screen for long term riding that gets the air over your head. and none for the track. Solar power battery tender is just shit, don't buy it, it will never have enough charge. On a cold day you can wait hours for it. Just ring at someones door or get one that can be plugged into a 12v car plug. that way some passerby can help you out. heated grips are okay but you'll still have a cold thumb. Better to have those thick electric gloves that you can plug into the bike. OR get some hand guards and deflect that cold wind. (combined with the grips) And you'll get better milage with a good tune. that belly pan from puig isn't gonna do anything that you will notice.
Huge shout out to Simplisafe for sponsoring these parts....whoops, I mean this video. I trust them to protect my home and highly recommend you guys to check them out too ! If you do, make sure to use simplisafe.com/chase . Stay safe fam!
chaseontwowheels will signing up now charge for all the previous season 4 episodes or just from now one every episode? Thanks!
@@frankreidler8735 You only pay per episode in the future or you can set a monthly limit.
can you do a street legal quad build ?
For the MT10 I recommend using Gilles Tooling parts. Their parts are amazing and they actually make most of the Yamaha OEM upgrade parts for Yamaha.
Bro i am ur new subscriber from india bro ur channel beautiful
Hey Chase, I’ve had my MT10 for a year and a half now so here are some of my suggestions.
Rearsets- Lightech is a good way to go
Passenger peg delete- Sato racing racing hooks
Exhaust- be careful and make sure you get something that sits flush with the bike, there is potential to scrape when cornering, but for sound honestly any exhaust sounds good on these things.
Brakes- brembo master cylinder and core steel braided brake lines
Engine protection- woodcraft
Levers- be careful some levers will not engage the small push button on the brake side causing the cruise control to not work
Suspension- KTech, take a trip to NC and get setup from fast bike industries.
You can not use a brembo master cylinder because the speed control will not work with it. You can get the R1 ones this will work
MT10 Touring owner here :) Will focus on the tour part of things mostly.
Hand protection: The tourer comes with hand guards, you might want to look into those, they are original yamaha parts
Luggage: I have to original yamaha stuff what you want to grab. They are pretty good I think, but if I may suggest an alternative it would be the SW motech Blade panniers. They have a different system to secure the panniers to the bike and I heared good things about them from other Yamaha owners (MT10's and MT09's as well). As for the original ones, they can be somewhat iffy to remove, also you will have the holding bracket on the bike, and since you wanted to remove the footpegs I think that might be an issue :)
Protection: I have R&G racing stuff (front axle guard, crash bobbins, engine case sliders, rear bobbins for lifting the bike and it also doubles as protection for the rear).
Chase don't forget to get an oil cooler guard as well!
Good luck!
Tank bag! Definitely! Keeps the weight centered!
Here's what I've mostly done to my 2019 MT10sp so far:
- Akrapovic decat kit + slip-on
- Brembo RCS19 master cylinder (you need a relay custom kit for the electronics) + GP4 RX calipers (you need spacers, 7mm) + T-drive disc rotors
- Brembo clutch lever
- HEL braided lines (front and back)
- Lightech R reasets, Lightech chain adjusters, Lightech carbon cover's kit (engine, clutch and pickup)
- Rizoma genesi mirrors and some other misc cockpit parts
- R&G sliders and spools
- Racetorx shift support (a must for smoother shifts!) and Racetorx rear pillion blanks
- Pyramid Plastics seat cowl and fairing panels
- Motovision Carbon parts (front + rear fenders, etc.)
- a few Yamaha/Giles Tooling stock parts (tail tidy, wheel sliders, etc.)
Also .. a proper ECU flash, gained 15+ HP and flattened the power curve very well!
Have myself a 2016 MT10 Fully loaded with mods now. It's truly been a fantastic bike for the last few years and 35k miles. Just my opinion on essential mods which worked well for me anyway;
R1 front master cylinder and R1m calipers (i use brembo pads but i've heard sbs are really good!)
Akra decat link pipe and end can AND R1 titanium headers (just looks cool) and a woolich ecu flash
If you plan on taking anyone on the back, Do them a favour and grab some tracer 900 foot pegs.
And that is most likey enough room to fit your camera gear in so you can leave the panniers at home when you just go out for a day
Can’t wait till we can all get back together.... thanks for everything Chase
Lightech chain adjusters for sure!
Yoshimura sounds really good too
Don't worry about the lightweight chain and sprockets, they wear out quick
Brembo breaks and steal lines
Woodcraft engine protection
Ohlins suspension
Sargent/Saddlemen seat
I’m so stoked that someone is finally doing a mt10 build.
As a MT 10 owner. I am definitely looking foreward to these videos.
Suggestions:
Brakes...
And also, OEM chains and sprockets on Yamaha's are rubbish. Replacing them with quality products will make a considerable difference.
Powermadd hand guards. Cheap and look good. Helps with wind hitting your hands even in colder weather. Have used them for a couple years on my fz09.
That's why you don't cheap out on levers
@@ridingaroundwithmrbrown8942 Exactly!
A lot of people I know with the MT10 put "Racetorx Yamaha MT10 / R1 shift shaft support" on the bike.
From their website:
Description:
The shift support limits deflection on the gear selector output shaft.
Thus helping prevent miss shifts, false neutrals and even giving smoother gear changes.
Aesthetically pleasing with hard anodizing for corrosion protection.
MT-10SP owner here.
evotech radiator and oil cooler guard, the stock oil cooler guard is doing nothing
the R1(m) headers fit the mt-10 and are titanium, removing the cat will make the bike allot lighter
keep the chain as it is
Woolich race tools is awesome
Screen is not needed for riding fast, better get a screen for touring
for touring you can get the Yamaha touring package that comes with everything you need for touring and storage,
suspension wise, the stock suspension i good but you could always get better springs in the front and rear
the brakes of the mt-10 are fine (it stops faster then the 1290SDR) pads is a good upgrade but keep in mind that you cant get the air out of the abs pump on a safe way without the official Yamaha software
keep in mind that there is a possibility that the engine protectors might not fit anymore when you fit the bellypan
IMO... go short or long on the wind shields.. medium tends to put the wind in your face... luv the mt 10...but i went with the tracer 900..more practical for what i want...great vid as usual...
I agree. Mid length wind screens create buffeting and noise at helmet height. Its worse than having no screen and smooth air.
WTF???
For the MT10 I recommend using Gilles Tooling parts. Their parts are amazing and they actually make most of the Yamaha OEM upgrade parts for Yamaha.
Gilles is the way to go! Love those, had them on all my sport bikes
I've got the Akrapovich muffler & link pipe with a BMC air filter. Definitely get the comfort seat and ECU flash to take out that twitchy throttle response. But get ready cause that thing with become a torque beast!
My first mod would be CRG Arrow bar end mirrors together with Rhinomoto bar end sliders. That combo looks fantastic on the MT-10.
I also love my tang bag it's quick release and works great (SW motech day pack)
Take it easy and enjoy the mt10 is great fun, just be prepared you'll be fueling it up more times than you care to imagine 😂
You should re-valve the front forks!
As the rear shock you should choose one that has easy external preload adjustment (in case you are going to ride 2 up)
Waited all last year to get an MT10 I’m getting it this season so I’m geeked to see the mods
Get your ECU flashed, Xplane R1 custom tuning is the best in the business.
I had mine done by Nick. It's a really nice improvement.
Hell yeah. Nick is awesome! I'm from STL too and I was the first 2 owners with FZ-10s he tuned. Really stand up guy he is.
Keep the factory chain and sprockets. When you do eventually upgrade, make sure the sprockets are steel and not aluminum.
Get your suspension set up for YOU! You'll notice a world of difference when the bike is set up for your weight and riding pace.
gamerlegacy absolutely do this , no need to spend cash on upgrades until you set it up and try it .
Good mods:
- Akrapovic Exhaust (link pipe and end can) or full R1 system, it fits the MT10
- Graves Exhaust (Also pretty good)
- Flash ecu
- LightTech Foot Pegs
- Domino Grips
- Levers
- Tyres
- 520 Chain sprockt kit (for the track, for the street its just not necessary)
- Translogic AutoBlipper (great for track, fun for street)
If you change the air filter. Put block off plates and remove the ETS I believe it's called. Changing exhaust so dont need it
I really want an MT09 in the same color scheme as your mt10, looking forward to this build.
Hey Chase, has the grip warmers from Yamaha on my MT09 and they honestly don't get all that warm. I would strongly recommend Oxford's ones, much, much better.
+1 for Oxford. I've never used any OEM ones but i have the Oxfords on my CB650F and i've never had them above 70% even in British winters.
I have Oxford sports heated grips and they get pretty hot if needed! You should also consider hand guards if you really want to keep your hands warm.
Also SBS brake pads are a great choice and are a BIG improvement on the stock pine ones
New house? New garage build? 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Tires, tires, tires :)
Tour options I swear by: backrest on a sergeant or mustang seat. Givi makes great storage solutions also
Yamaha rad guard zip ties on , a little cheap , get an oil cooler guard that wraps around the sides of the cooler .
I got an mt10 with a Austin Racing gp3 full exhaust..... boy does it sound orgasmic!
If you want to save on gas you could also change the chain and sprocket gearing. Helped a little with my SV650.
Solar power tender not required for touring pile, unless you gonna store the bike for a month or more a way from domestic power sources.
Lightech foot pegs are awesome! Got em on my MV F3! Go for em!
Don't know about the rear shock because you don't have track day experience.... Go to a person that know how to step up suspension first... then when you have experience check what Ohlins has to offer... also check out the Nitron suspensions... also pretty good....
The rear shock on the mt10 is actually stiffer than the one on the r1 so not much much use in replacing it. Front is fully adjustable as well
The comfort seat is so much better then the stock plank. I love my mt-10
dude i know one that you need is a corbin seat it will hit all the marks for track touring and mountian mine on my fz-09 has saved my back and two brothers sounds amazing and can use the db killer in like 3 mins from track to touring easy
Austin Racing Exhaust
MRA windscreen
Louimoto seat covers and gel inserts
TST Industries fender eliminator kit
Graves frame sliders
TST bar ends and axle protection.
(combined with the grips)
And you'll get better milage with a good tune. that belly pan from puig isn't gonna do anything that you will notice.
