    From the Atelier at Flowerfield. Apologies for the sound quality, I plugged the mic into the headphone jack.

    Paint with one brush. But hold many. That is the secret!

    Wonderful, thanks so much for the great tips. I really liked hearing about working into/out of an effect. The audio thing worked out, in this video we can hear the questions as well.

    Great sense and use of colour; very informative video - a real painting lesson from a real painter. I learnt a lot, thanks.

    Marc, I tried plein air painting today for the first time, and I just wanted to say that there were a lot of good tips in this video. I agree with your brush usage, I found myself wanting even more than the 5-6 brushes I had brought with me, so I could leave them loaded with paint versus cleaning. And it was good to hear you talk about painting into or out of effects (among other things). Thanks for sharing!

    "Look for blue in the distance", "Any time you're struggling with color, it's probably a warm grey", "Err on the side of beauty". I probably misquoted you, but those are good to contemplate. Thank you.

    Oh, so you did end up publishing this! Well, glad you sold me this demo. I like to refer to it and now watching this will help also. BTW, have not heard anything from Flowerfield and have asked several times.

    I had a painting yesterday that didn’t work out because I didn’t get a good start with the values in the water. The water looked better when I scraped it out after getting home!

    Interesting tripod set up for painting. Good idea on how you need to squint to get the accurate colors in your background like the sky. So tricky to nail outside as it really is intense on your eyes.

    Very generous! Lot of very good info. Looking into the sun is good for painting, but very hard on the eyes. Been doing it for years and I have eye floaters and other issues. Lot of my work is done in the desert.

    I'm completely in love with your work and with those lessons. Plein air painting is one of my favorite things to do, but I still struggle a little (a lot). Thank you for sharing all of those tips 🥰

    Excellent presentation ,you have a good grasp of the concepts, would be challenging to see if you can come up with a totally new way of seeing,.......... just for fun, like keeping the values accurate, but use colors that are yours.

    Where does one buy a tall outdoor easel like that?

    • @MarcDalessio
      @MarcDalessio  5 років тому +2

      I think the Daytripper sold by Joshua Been is similar. Steel Italian field easels get up high too.

    I am new to painting but a moment away from giving up...because no matter what I do, my attempts at painting trees fails time and time again.
