Bryan Mark Taylor Painting Demonstration

- Bryan Mark Taylor did a painting demonstration for a group of Beaux-Arts Academy Students (located in Provo, Utah) in Alpine, Utah. The demonstration quick, but full of great insights. I thought it was particularly fascinating to see how Bryan chose to make adjustments to the scene and push colors and values.

Just found this! Gradients in lawn, shadows bluer at edges, tricky values last, loose brushwork along edges, spontaneity along perimeter of painting, so many juicy little tidbits.
It’s heart touching to hear the voices of my BAA family in the background ❤️
I have paid big money for such a demo in years passed. Thanks for this great and FREE shared advice on PAP !!
Great artist Bryan Mark Taylor Congratulations on your paintings, I really like them and your Plein air.
This was really great! Thank you so much for sharing this demo!
He's always turn simple object to special painting... ❤❤❤
I had no idea that you had a UA-cam channel... I've been missing out this whole time
Thank you very much for the video. It was entertaining and informative. I would really love to see more.
Thanks for uploading 👌🏽
Vc é fantástico fico fascinado com suas pinturas não entendo nada que vc fala mas o que me importa é ver suas pinturas um dia tentarei adquiri seu dvd que ensina a pintar
Really interesting, thanks for posting, listening to Bryan has kinda given myself permission to be less rigid with capturing everything and allowing for some invention.
pro trick : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Nathan Cassius Yup, I have been watching on Flixzone} for since december myself =)
Hi great video I was interested to see how you packed it all back up
Came across this video by accident, (yes, I know, nothing is by accident) when I researched the STRADA easel as Samuel Earp, whom I have recently have been following, mentioned on Face book how much he loves his STRADA easel. I learning some important things about plein air painting from this video. I did my first plein air painting at age 15, second was at age 28, the latter was 39.5 years ago. Time to get back at it, wouldn't you say! Thanks for posting this video. One thing I will ask you, now that I have subscribed, is that you repeat, into the microphone, all important, relevant questions asked by your audience as their voices are not picked up. Much appreciated, thanks, Cathie
The only problem with the Strada easel is that it’s very heavy. I bought the smaller one and it’s very heavy so I can imagine this one is heavy.
It’s the best one for sure out there but on the heavy side. I got the two sides like that and 3 palettes to fit inside.
@@1974gladiateur I have been thinking I might take mine and drill out some holes in the bottom of the center piece and tray. I think I could reduce the weight by 30-40% and not impact the integrity of it too much. I'll let you know what happens :)
@@howardlyon Hi Howard, did you do this, and if so, was it worth doing? Thanks!
Bryan is a very good artist. The easel I bought it because of recommendations from other artist that do plein air.
This was a bit different for me. The first plein aire. I learned a lot. Alla Prima(?).
It would be nice to set your camera up so we can see the subject you are pointing.
It's true. The light was coming from behind subject though, at least when I first setup. So the exposure was blown out. When I went I didn't plan on recording it, but I had my camera with me and decided to go for it. My thought was that it would still be worth sharing, even with the shortcomings of it. Hopefully being free, it is still worth it. There is a shot of the subject at the end too.
@@howardlyon, thanks for sharing the video. It's a treasure trove of good painting info.
I concur with Dan. Viewers need to see the subject.
It would be better that way, but because of where the sun was in the shot I couldn't get a good exposure of both. I did take shot of the subject and it's at the end of the video. This was done just to share the info for free and was impromptu. Hopefully you can still find some useful info in it.
I disagree, the proof is in the pudding...there won't be a photo in the gallery next to his painting. You can still learn a lot by viewing him paint regardless of what he is seeing.
Is it possible to list what Mark uses for an easel and all it various pieces, it appears it's a Strada but what I would love to know what are all the piece that makes his setup, it look so lightweight and easy to transport around
Hi Howard, the video is very interesting.
Could you tell me what palette Bryan is using
Strada
what is strada ??, I do not understand
Lotta cheese in this video
The wind on your
Mike is preventing me from hearing what you're saying. Also, we can't see the reference view.
There is a shot of the reference at the end if that is helpful. Sorry that it isn't better quality. It wasn't a planned video really. I just attended the demo and had my camera so I filmed it. Thought it would still be beneficial to share it for free.
@@howardlyon Amazing, free demo by Taylor and people are complaining. That's the thanks you get. Thank you from at least me for your hard work and giving a bleep!
Your intro audio is ridiculously loud.
Yep. It was filmed impromptu. Thought I would share it, for free, even with issues. What do you think?
What the hell is that mess? I hope that wasn't the finished product.
