    5 Workout & Nutrition Mistakes Sabotaging Your GAINS! (SLOW OR ZERO GROWTH!)
    READ FULL ARTICLE WITH PHOTOS
    muscularstrength.com/article/...
    By far the most frequent comment I get, is “How Do I Stay Motivated To Work Out?” And I’ve got to be honest, the answer is usually ALWAYS the same. RESULTS are my only motivator, and it should be yours too. Well…wearing all my Just Saiyan gear kind of helps as well, not going to lie! It makes me think that if I keep pushing myself as hard as I can, maybe I’ll turn super Saiyan…A guy can dream right?! But seriously, think about this for a second…
    If what you’re doing yields RESULTS, and if you can clearly see those results, isn’t that all the motivation you need? If, on the other hand, what you’re doing provides NO results, it doesn’t matter what it is, you’re still going to be demotivated to keep on doing it, even if it is something you like. Now there are some problems I can’t fix, but a problem I CAN FIX is to make sure that you are MAKING CONTINUOUS GAINS by avoiding these 5 mistakes!
    Mistake #1: Your Pre-Workout Nutrition Is BAD!
    Believe it or not, meal timing can impact how hard you train. Take me for example, if I eat WAY too much too close to my workout my body feels like it weights a million pounds. I am super sluggish and sleepy, and it makes sense because your body is literally trying to allocate energy to digest all the food you just ate AND lift heavy weights! It’s like you’re cutting your energy expenditure in half. However, if I eat, say, 4 hours before my workout, by the time I go to train I’m hungry again, and my energy levels are OK, but not optimal. The perfect time for me is about 90 minutes to 2 hours before I train. Everyone is different, and it may take some experimenting to figure out what works best for you.
    But WHAT should you be eating? Ideally, you want to be having a meal that combines protein AND complex carbs and a good example of that would be something like chicken and roasted potatoes, or rice and beans.
    However, if you DON’T have the time to prepare or even consume a meal like this (probably because you’re at work), in that case, you can choose to have a meal that’s mainly comprised of simple carbohydrates 20 - 30 minutes before you workout. Your body will be able to break down the simple carbs much faster, and you won’t get that sluggish feeling when you go to train. It’s not your BEST option, but it’s still superior to lifting on an empty stomach, in my opinion. A good example would be 2 bananas or apples right before you workoutm or a high calorie protein bar would work as well. In fact, as you know I train super early in the morning now. If I wake up late, I grab a BSN CRISP BAR and an apple and just run out the door chomping away as I drive to the gym. So there is always a solution!
    Mistake #2: You’re Training Too Long
    Training for 2 or 3 hours at a time is WAY too long.Granted, there are some exceptions, if for example you’re doing Push, Pull, Legs or powerlifting program where the rest periods are much longer. But even still, you should always be evaluating your workouts to ensure you’re maximizing your time. If you’re bro-split (e.g. a chest and triceps workout), then 3 hours is just too long. You could easily hit chest and triceps in 60 - 90 minutes max.
    As a NATURAL lifter, your body can only handle so much at once, and it will get to a point where you’re just beating a dead horse. You can only train so long before your muscles are done getting beaten up. In fact, I bet if the majority of you cut down your total workout time right now, you would see more results.
    So stop checking your phone, stop talking to your gym buddies between every single set, and maybe even reduce your rest periods to 60 - 90 seconds max in-between every single set. Also, remember this as we have talked about it before, and I will continue to say it. You only need 2 - 3 exercises per body part MAX.

      Awesome video like always bro keep up the amazing work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤❤❤
      I have 2 suggestions on videos you can make related to nutrition
      1 is how to optimize nutrition so that you prevent muscle loss if you will not be able to train for a while example 2-4 weeks.
      2.
      I would like to know why most people who compete why they cut out spices from their meal plan the only thing they are allowed to eat is cinnamon what effect does spices have on someone that needs to get shredded to that level ?

      While on the subject anyway, motivation is fine. It's just that there are other things in people's life that sometimes takes precedence. It may not be a motivational problem but rather a priority problem.
      Also, I came to listen to his accent as well.

      daniel zamudio Wth?? Jeff is not a fake natty man 😂 Train harder and eat better if you really believe that

    • @Tracuer221
      @Tracuer221 6 років тому +1

      Wayne Lewis
      To be fair, you look nowhere close to Jeff's level. So you really have no personal experience on the matter and can't just say "lmao bro train harder". He may or may not be natty, but the channel doesn't rely on his physique so it doesn't really matter.

    • @waynelewis9110
      @waynelewis9110 6 років тому +4

      what Don’t even try acting like a know it all. My UA-cam Ava is from over 4 years ago when I was a junior in high school and DID NOT train, plus my diet was not good. Lemme see a pic of you though?
      I wager that most people who believe that someone is a fake natty even though they actually are natural, are those who do not train hard and eat like shit. Quit making excuses and put the work in, then you will see results. It won’t be overnight, but it’ll happen.
      Jeff Cavalier has been doing what he does for a long time, same with Scott. For anyone to call them fake natty is just plain ridiculous. Quit being lazy.

    Excellent video, i was just talking about this subject with my co workers and my family, its hard to stay motivated and want to be strong and shredded when the person is taking some form of steroids, I feel like there are less and less natural lifters like yourself out there. I do fact check and compare what they are saying to what they are doing. In all, im glad you are making these videos and i appreciate what you do for us and helping us to stay fit and healthy.

    No better way to illustrate your point than with DBZ images 👍. By the way, when I started lifting I used to follow Vince del Monte advice, he is a nice guy but somehow what he teaches didn't work for me. Actually started seeing gains when I started following you and Jeff, and the one video that helped me a lot is the meal plan one, I never gave nutrition any importance until then.

      Yes. Well our tax money are spent on bloated military budget for the industrial complex (as former president Ike warned us about), funding terror states Saudi Arabia , Qatar, Pakistan and others, funding Israel (almost $10 million dollars a day), American corporations that move jobs overseas, and other wasteful pork barrels shenanigans. Its ok to not spend it for your people specially for infrastructures (our infrastructures are graded D-), healthcare and good public education.

      Isn't it rediculously expensive because the pharmaceutical companies are able to rip you off. In most countries with a health service the government negotiates a price with the company but in America they can charge what they want, therefore the prices skyrocket.

      I just switched to eating clean 24/7 no junk food or takeout. I do cardio 3 times a week and lots of ab work. Gaining size and building a strong core with mass. Just takes time if you do not drop in calories. Ive been maintaining body weight for months now. Time and diet is on your side when it comes to losing body fat. Also eat 5 meals a day now and that seems to help with body fat. My BF% is 13% I need it to hit 8% but no lower than that.

    Ok, so I have a question about the gym-time thing: I have a 4 day gym plan that I've stuck to for the last 4 months, and I go to gym 5 times a week. This is my program:
    Day 1- Chest and biceps (5 exercises for each one, 4 sets each, 8 reps per set, 35 secs rest) + 20 mins abs
    Day 2- Back and triceps (the same format) + 20 mins abs
    Day 3- Shoulders and traps (8 exercises all together, 4 sets each, 8 reps per set, 35secs rest) + 20 mins abs
    Day 4- Legs (8 exercises, 4 sets, 8 reps per set, 35 secs rest), No abs workouts
    On days 1 and 2 my gym-time is 2.5 hours, on day 3 it's 1.5 hour, and on day 4 it's 45 mins.
    How should I maximize my time and basically spend less time in the gym? What should I change in my program?!

    • @MahmoudAzab-vj5cw
      @MahmoudAzab-vj5cw 6 років тому +2

      Arash S In my opinion, I think you are doing way too much volume, 5 exercises of 4 sets for biceps is just crazy, Lower your volume and you will be fine and might actually end up with better results since you will be able to get more intense and shorter workouts

      @ScottHermanFitness  6 років тому +1

      Cut back your exercises and do more sets per exercise. Like 5-6 sets for the big muscle groups (chest, back, legs) and you can still do 5 sets for smaller muscle groups (biceps, triceps), just do 2 exercises. And if you need to, superset some exercises (not necessary, just an option).

    He brought up the stuff about V-Shred. Who I disagree with like Scott does. But coincidently, I get a V-Shred ad before the video starts lol. And now to a question. I do legs, push, pull on every other day and do my running in between. On legs I do 5 sets of squats, from about 95% max to 80% max, split squats the same way, and Romanian deadlift the same way. Push day I do bench press, DB Bench, then incline DB, 5 sets 95% to 80% max overhead press, DB over head, then lateral raises. Back day I do power cleans 3 sets and dead 2 sets, lat pull down, barbell row, DB row, upright row. Just wondering if this seems good enough haha

      You can do kickbacks.. although they're not the best with dumbbells. Tate press is another good one. If you only have dumbbells, you can still do a close-grip bench press too. Hold the dumbbells together over your chest.
      Those food choices sound good! You need to be in a surplus for muscle growth.. so if those foods help you do that, great! If you need more help post in my forums - www.MuscularStrength.com/forum

      brownmamba try to add some weight they will definitely help. Start by adding 10lbs for all your sets and try to go over 5 reps in each set then when you start feeling the weight becomes lighter add some extra pounds . Use this method for a month then test your max reps with your body weight and believe me you will be surprised. PS : progress on good form
