    Everytime he painted so extreme, like the subsurface, and the glass on the left, I would think: "hmmm... is this really working?"
    Then when he erased it,
    "OAO!!!!! Mas, Master!!! That looks amazing!"

    Pretty damn good. I mocked up the light situation with some primitives in 3d and the highlight from the sun should be even closer to the edge though.

    thanks for tutorial. i like the easy to follow steps and layer set up. one thing - wouldn't fishman's head be under water with the greenish water color too?:P

      @mycollegeshirt The original has contradictory light that's the issue. The character is back-lit, yet the drawing is front lit. :/ When you define your light direction you get a stronger image. Sam's paintover respected the established light direction.

      A simpler solution could have been to move the cast shadow instead :P
