- After surviving The Long Dark for 500 Days on Stalker mode...it's time to try the same on Interloper. There will be no firearms, looted hatchets or knives. We must make our own defenses and tools in order to survive this self-imposed challenge. It's time to see if we achieve victory or die a horrible death like everyone else on Great Bear Island.

The Long Dark Interloper is the hardest mode in Sandbox mode (The other difficulties are Pilgrim, Voyager and Stalker). The game describes that this mode is "For expert players looking for the ultimate wilderness Survival challenge."
In The Long Dark Interloper difficulty, you start with the most minimal resources, supplies are very scarce and Wildlife is rare, but it is more dangerous
- Interloper was a new game difficulty, introduced in v.364.
- The world becomes more hostile to you as you play. Global temperature drops, wildlife and fuel resources become more scarce, and Blizzards become more frequent.
- Apart from the Hacksaw and Hammer, which spawn rarely in the world, you need to create all your own improvised tools (ex. Hatchets, Knives, etc.).
- The best Clothing and Food items do not spawn.
- Wolves are more rare, but also more deadly.
- Wildlife becomes more rare over time.
- There are no firearms in the world.

Just be aware that the new toxic wolves don't react like other wolves in the Long Dark. Only reliable thing is to kill them. They aren't scared off by fire or flares reliably.
Your tld videos are my favorite thing to binge at night when i crochet, ive been playing the game since fluffy was still in the dam lol, but watching your content has contributed to such a huge portion of my knowledge of the game. I reccomend your channel to anyone i know who wants to start playing and doesnt want the effects of going in blind. You do a wonderful job at providing engaging and informational commentary :)

Yes, unless they changed it in the last update, you can eat all the predator meat you want when you have intestinal parasites. Doing so does not "restart the clock".
Edit...see that you tested it. I've gotten parasites on purpose before. It's not that hard to manage, just realize that you are going to be losing stamina everyday and travel any distance is going to be very difficult. I did it when I had a lot of crafting to do and had gathered all the meds, food and water I needed at the camp office. The first thing I made was the bearskin bedroll and then slept in the overlook cave once I got cabin fever.
"The Last Train"'s historical basis sounds a lot like the story of the Czech Legion.
They were a group of Czech soldiers during World War 1 who got caught up in the chaos that was the October Revolution in Russia. Long story short they found themselves in a situation where cutting longways across Russia from Archangel to Vladivostok during the Russian Civil War, capturing about 6000 miles of Trans-Siberian railway to do so, sailing across the Pacific Ocean, traveling across America, then sailing across the Atlantic Ocean to France was easier than traveling through the chaos of World War 1 on the Western Front. All just so they could have a Czech homeland.
It's an absolutely incredible story. Definitely worth looking into

Looks like with the new zone they finally killed micro harvesting.
Would advise not to go into the new zone without gearing up (technical backpack,bedroll,bearskiin jackets ect...) and completing Signal Void as well.
Do not want to spill any spoilers for you but the mine in the new zone is so HUGE you will think you are harvesting a complete zone!

They did in one way but not in another. You can no longer stop the harvest but you can still max out the amount you want to harvest on the interface and then back it back down to a number lower than the usual minimum. And if you don't change the amount subsequent cuts on the same carcass will be at the lower amount. For example if you have a deer that weights 9.2 kilos the minimum you can harvest at a time is .5 kilos. Max out the amount you want to harvest at the full 9.2 and then when you back the amount back down it will subtract .5 kilo at at time until you are left with .2 kilos. It is a bit more involved on the initial harvest but after that it's actually easier as you don't have to watch the dial and "cancel" the harvest half way through.
another lovely episode. yeah, got parasites but... if you go for such a long game you will eventually get them. its only a matter when it happens. anyways thanks for the upload, keep up the great work and if the next upload will be after christmas i wish you and your family merry christmas
it's the new mechanic. You have to harvest with a tool for the first time then you can go by hand

oh, uh they changed the carcass harvesting mechanics, to harvest by hand you need to cut it with a tool first, you can't start a fresh bag with your hands. this also applies to full carcass's.

How long does one reclaimed wood burn for how long to harvest? Vs walk around and collect sticks for same time how long would that burn for?
Pies reduce your fatigue, so it's not a good idea to eat them before going to bed.

Can you even get food poisoning from food cooked by recipes? I've never seen anyone get it even with ruined food.
What wait?!?! Can harvesting an non predator animal give you parasites now?? I'm so confused. If so that seems kinda ridiculous. I love the immersion of this game, but thats seriously unrealistic. I've cut into bears, and sharks filled with worms before and never gotten a parasite, even after eating them. Dear/elk ive never seen worms but now the developers want to make it so that just harvesting an animal is enough to get sick?? Regardless if you eat them? Or was that a glitch?
It was probably a coincidence. He had 4 % risk of getting parasites and got them coincidentally when he was harvesting the deer meat.
You should consider turning down the character's voice. It is distracting. :)
I'm not sure if I can adjust only the voice. I think it's completely linked to the environment audio, but I'll double check in the next play session. Maybe an update has added that as a feature...hopefully!
