Prop pitch is useful when you suffered a oil/water leak and your engine already overheated and died. If you aren't far away from a base, turn off ignition, close your radiators, and put prop pitch on 0% to become a bootleg glider.

If you are further from a base, you can open your radiators 100% to have some power in reserve when losing altitude too quickly.

This, I actually did this today. Glided all the way from 24000ft back to base. Propeller hit their dang plane 😅😅😅
