Ground Battles: literally WASD
Air Battles: You have to became a irl pilot and plane mechanic to play optimal
Using MEC makes me much better of a pilot. Forget about it in fights and kill my engine half matches. Get killed while searching for the supercharger gear data the other half of the matches. Other than that totally worth it. Recommend.
I used Matric, which is sort of custom buttons but on your phone, so you can make the controls look like the actual airplanes ones
dude thank you so much for mentioning this app. ive wanted to try mec for so long but struggle to remember the keys for it
used a very old video to first learn about htis, very nice to learn some of hte specifics that never taught
on a side note, id' say that if any thing, the one and true advantage to MEC is radiator control.
even if you completely ignore the other parts of this, not burning out your engine and holding WEP longer is always an improvement
Completely true
that guy in the p108 sucks, he couldn't even hit a stationary hornet lmao
Thanks! I've been wanting to do this for a while.
Much appreciated. I sorta set them up before but it’s definitely a great assistance.
first step: always be in a JET and rush b
As for the independent engine controls, prop feathering a badly damaged engine on a twin engine fighter can be the diference between flying badly or gliding ok!
Thanks man really enjoy your vids
Really helpful, thanks a ton!
That's a sick hangar my guy!
Thanks! Incredible!
Downloaded it over 2 years ago, it's on war thunder live somewhere
because i'm a tough guy i watched adam's video before this one.
He's too powerful to be left alive
@@DEFYN i know. i'm on it..
DEFYN well ur better than him in my opinion plus u are making better content than him
Non-conformist power move
@@YUKKO0110 Adam's aim begs to differ
Thank you for this, keep coming back as my controls got shot again lol
Comment made for UA-cam algorithm. Carry on with your business citizen
Ahh, beautiful ending.
"...you go to your little hamburger thing..." lmao 🤣🤣😂🤣😂😆🤣😂
For those who dont know, if youre plane doesnt have an air brake if you cut throttle open radiator flaps and change prop pitch it will infact slow you down slightly depending on thw weight and dive characteristics of the plane. For example the p-47 is so heavy this method does next to nothing
SO IM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT RAMS THAT PLANE
GOOD TO KNOW
only time i use mec is when climbing in the p47 in the start of that match. helps a bit
If you're playing on console, and have a HOTAS, controls can be bound to the controller and HOTAS. Keyboard not needed.
I use bombers a lot and I just use mec to make it to my target and back to the airfield faster
I most likely won't use it because I'm too dumb to remember but very useful
The prop pitch percentage = to throttle thing only applies for climbing right? Cause if you wanna go top speed in leveled flight you'll need to decrease prop pitch as you achieve high speeds (I might be wrong, but please confirm or correct me)
Prop feathering yes quite important especially on multi engined planes like the mosquito and hornet (yes if you lose an engine on the hornet and you prop feather that engine your chances of (a successful) rtb increase massively)
I thought the same thing, lowering prop pitch only works when going far above your straight line speed according to adam
So I always manually do that, but was wondering if auto controls feathered the prop on a damaged engine
Can you do a video of your key binding set up for keyboard and mouse?
I mostly just want to know about MEC to feather props on dead engines and open my rad during a climb. 🙃
What about the bf 109 airbrake with mec tho
I don't know if the MEC and Supercharger sheet is still relevant now, is it still updated Defyn?
I think the "Guide Playlist" doesn't work anymore (It just sends me to the UA-cam homepage).
very mecessary
I want flight parameters on the left side of the screen like you. Where to switch it on?
Any updated MEC ratings. the one on forums is missing many planes and I believe some of the settings are out of date.
in air RB does the instructor lockup your controls when in a flat spin? ive been flying the f4u4b and gotten into two flat spins and noticed no matter what i press or do my controls stay in one position, regardless if i use keyboard or mouse to try to get out of it. Is the only way to get out of a flat spin in that situation to switch to full real quickly?
He does, but its because most of the time he is doing whats best to get out of that flat spin. If he can't get out of it, you probably wont either. And yes, switching to real is the only way.
much appreciated .. I guess looking at the Tables, the germany premium p47d does not profit from manual prop control & mixture etc?
some boom and zoom youtuber uses it. it's been a while but I think he was Australian and had a green logo. during a dive set the pitch way down and you will accelerate to your red line speed faster. just remember to create thrust you will need to put the pitch back up. if you can find his video on boom and zoom he explains better than I can.
Hey how do you make the MEC stay at a certain percent? I use the exact same controls as you do for MEC and it always can only do 0, 50, and 100% and nothing in-between, except for the mixture, which is either 0, 60, or 120%. I just can't ever make it stay without holding a button and to get something to stay at a percent i have to spam the button to try and get something in-between. Please help
He said in the vid turn on relative control on
Manual engine controls mode won’t toggle on any plane
Could you provide your keyboard mapping file for download, please?
I have all the bindings set and still cannot shutoff/turn on a specific engine on my planes.
Just the ability to airbrake using 100% pitch and 0% throttle is enough to use MEC :P
As radiator and oil radiator should be managed equally, could I set them both for the same key binding?
I prefer seperately because some planes have oil radiators with barely any drag (see f4u) so you can keep those on 100 and control the normal one as you see fit
What about bombers in the spreadsheet?
What hurts me is that there is a radiator setting for radial engines. (ie.p-47, hellcat, wildcat, p-36, Fw-190) those are air cooled engines. You would be controling the cowling flaps for cooling, and I'm sure that's what they mean, but it still bothers me.
I mean there will be a oil cooler, but those places don't use a liquid to cool the engine.
Well it is a crappy arcade game, so it's no surprise.
@@spigot993 crappy arcade game??
@@spigot993 you never touched sim in your life or you think spending your life on DC world is worth it
@@mustafahq6761 you do you.
That engine control may save you from a flat spin though if you got two engines
I Heard MEC is needed for flying MB. 5
how would i get the he162 to 104% thottle instead of it maxing at 108 and overheating my engine?
I'm unsure why but I cant even enable manual engine mode even thought i set up my buttons
You can set up MEC on controller but it's very tedious to do it
I can imagine
Where is the braking located please and I don't mean left and right.
Hm, now I know how I setup an oil Radiator, but why I should change the value? Or why to change propeller pitch? What are the benefits?
the time it takes, during a dive, to accelerate is affected by prop pitch. if you're over your max straight-line speed then the props are just a big umbrella in front of your plane creating drag.
the radiators can be opened up to provide cooling without sacrificing engine speed, but at the cost of increased drag. I don't know much about how to use radiator in battle but no one else answered you so there's my 2 cents
what if there is no feathering on a plane and also the propelor doesnt stop when 0 pitch? like the spitfire mark Ia?
I believe some prop pitches are unadjustable as early props didn’t have the adjustability and were set at the ‘optimal’ pitch for flight. This is usually low tier props from my experience
Is it possible to save MEC settings?
Individual engine control does not work in mouse aim, just fyi
Hey DEFYN, well when i try to enter "Spercharger spreadsheet" it opens up a max speed at sea lvl. It might be something wrong with link :/
Fixed :)
DEFYN thank you! o7
None of this is working for me. Help.
How do you know things like the small drag on the F4Us Oil Radiator?
It's in the files
Files, and test in prob fly, and polygon
me flying bv 238 while watching this I'm scared.
cool
@Igor Ticinovic cool
cool
cool
Cool
Cool
How Can I do that but still keeping mouse aim
Can you help this might be dumb but it says auto controls are enabled and that i cant use radiator even tho i press 0 for mec
In settings pres appoint button for on/off auto control: prop pitch and radiator
what kind of bf-109 is that in 11:13
2023 Normal controls: WIP
Yo can u help me out with this cuz my Manuel engine control won’t turn on so I can change my prop pitch how do I turn on mec so I can use prop pitch
2:36, but can also be done using the multifunction menu
And what about magneto position? What is that for?
It isn't modelled afaik
whenever i try and increase or decrease radiator it just goes from 50 down to 49 or up to 51, i even tried the f4u to see if it was my spit that was the problem but it still didnt work
Turn on relative control and it should work
@@DEFYN I did, I looked at how you had it set up exactly and all it did was move up or down 1%. I'll have another tinker this evening
@@DEFYN so i worked it out, you down want them to be set as the reset buttons as well because if you have them set to reset and to change then when the change they also re set and obviously that's what was happening
Is it possible to use just the radiators for planes that overheat really badly and still have everything else on auto?
Some planes yes but thats because the planes have everything on auto themselves
Like 109s for example
but its not a feature in the game itself
its plane specific sadly
@@DEFYN Bummer. Planes like the MB.5 could benefit greatly from better engine cooling, not sure I want to learn settings for the rest though.
yeah it really sucks
its mostly the gear switch altitudes which are annoying prop pitch is manageable in most cases
200 million sl? holy fuck
nothing works for me. why?
i broke my throttle and i can't fix it
damn i have a 60% keyboard, no numpad. I guess i will not use mec
where is the supercharger spreadsheet?
added
@@DEFYN love the quick response, thx man!
👍
ua-cam.com/video/VM7GpvvrbNI/v-deo.html
min 7:30 i found a solution for F8F-1B with that trick. I played with WEP most part of match i managed to set the propeller pitch at 80% and both radiators at 50% and the mixture at 90%, some time i had to open it but in a short period of time and after fights with no issues.
I got to a similar conclusion, but I will have to see how much power you lose from it
@@DEFYN yup, and let me know when you finish
what is mec, or mac or whatever you call it. I'm guessing it's not the pc Mac
Edit: found out by watching 30 more seconds of the video
I set up the controls and when I switch back to mouse aim to doesn't work what the fuck gaijin
Have you copied mec settings from me defy 😋
Fuck MEC, where's my landing tutorial?
The Sad moment when you try to incrase your performance with the power of *KNOWLEDGE* but you only play Arcades.
PS: I did try Realistic Battles, but after losing 100K SL only for Repairs (Not including any gain just the lose) I decided to stick to Arcades. Also, fuck rearming.
noob
What plane(s) did you even use?
literraly nothing
Yeah non of these work
super useless video, not showing what to do to slow down.
