I appreciate you posting these videos! I found out in September that I have a herniated disc at c5-6 and would possibly need surgery. I also have a condition called Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, so I’ve been having “headaches” for years that haven’t gotten much better after my lumbar shunt surgery. In January, my pain was so bad that I couldn’t cough, laugh, sneeze, anything without my head feeling like it was going to explode. My neurosurgeon says the disc is what’s causing this pain so I’m having a disc replacement and a possible fusion on Feb 24. I’m only 26 so I’m terrified, but watching what you have gone thru is really easing my mind! Prayers for continued healing 🙏🏽
Hello. Stumbled upon this video. It's been a month since my hybrid surgery too. Artificial cervical disc implant on C4/C5 and PEEK caging/fusion at C3/C4 and C5/C6 and having bilateral arm paresthesias which were absent post and pre op..surgeon says don't worry.
Wish you a very speedy recovery, and I pray for a 100 percent recovery!!! I am going to have back surgery very soon. I have 5 compressed discs with one that has rotated in some direction I don't understand. The Dr. seems that it will be a very serious surgery, in my words lol! I just know I am very, very scare. Thanks so much for sharing this. I just had a single level ADR C6/7 using the LP prestige. Hope you’re doing well. I’m kind of terrified that I’ll herniate another disc I really hope that doesn’t happen and sorry you had to go through that again.
Had exact symptons plus stinging in both middle fingers thought my life was ruined the pain was that bad. Had compressed nerve and bone spur. Had fusion to C6 and C7 and have full mobement and never been better its been 4-5yrs since Op and still active as ever. The worse is the Post Op wake up from the incision in throat until them sorting correct amount of pain relief. 4 to 6 weeks recovery/take it easy time mostly precautionary but good as new. Be surprised how C6 and C7 effect the nerves which effect the feeling in random parts of the body!
Hi Joe, my name is Amanda. I live in AZ. I’ve had ACDR at c 5-6 & c6-7. 20 yrs ago. I now need ACDF surgery at c 4-5. I’m so very nervous. How are you doing?
I had this opperation in 2012 in Australia and am in the same situation again, and am amazed you are out of hospital so soon after the opp, and you don't have the wear a hard collar, I spent a week in hospital in 2012 and had to wear soft collar in bed and a hard collar for 6 weeks after the opp, and don't know if I can go through that again
i had work accident that led to c6/c7 fusion. I burn from thighs down. At night if I lay on my side, my entire body starts burning from skull to toes. not a great predicament, will be seeing the surgeon to start then probably another mri. This is now 19 months after surgury. My accident pinned my spinal cord with a disc that went inside. left me like that a whole year before I recieved surgury. it was emergency surgury.
Thank you for posting this. I've had two fusion on my lower back (L4-S1) and two months ago, out of nowhere I started getting really REALLY bad neck pain that quickly moved down to my shoulder blade in the following week. Within 2 weeks of that I had pain down my right arm and a week after that my forearm feels like I have a constant sunburn, my ring and pinky finger, mostly pinky, are numb/weak and my arm/hand go completely tingling randomly throughout the day like I've been laying on it. My family doctor did an MRI this past Monday, called me Tuesday and said my C6/C7 were "Significantly Bulging". Already had an appointment a month out with my neurosurgeon for a follow-up on my back, they got the MRI forwarded today, called me and moved my appointment up to next Friday soooo, I'm not super optimistic about not getting cut open again in the near future. What's really crap, I've been off work since last July from my lower back so I have literally done nothing and yet have two bulging discs. Joy oh joy. I really hope the neck is easier than the lower back.
Yup, I know what you mean, that's why i have a video about the surgery roller coaster. Unfortunately I think if our bodies, bones, discs and lifestyle lend themselves to disc herniation, we may have more than one in our lifetimes. I'm sorry. I know how frustrating that is. ua-cam.com/video/TbZXbXqYUUk/v-deo.html
@@Adriennewithane Just had my appointment yesterday. Turns out it's just one bulging disc in my neck (C6/C7) but as the surgeon put it "This, this is bad, I don't know how you did this but this needs to come out" So I'm having surgery in the next few weeks. Thank. God. Get this thing outta me lol. Still doing good on your end?
Thank you for your post, I accidentally came across this video, I have alot going on in my neck, I fell i went airborne on my fall I went up in the air about 6' when I came down my head hit the concrete floor 1st with a 2nd bounce at the same time a metal base plate with a 2 and a half metal tip sticking up from that that went through my ribs in my back, my MRI said I had myelomasia? and I needed to get 3 maybe 4 disc removed in my neck, I scheduled the surgery but got to scared to go through with it so I've been on pain management for over a year now, they said they would go through my throat and I think thats what scared me, I already have failed back surgery from fusion in my L5S1, I'm going to go back and try to watch your other videos maybe I will overcome my fear of this immenent surgery, I hope you feel better soon, WHEN did they say you can return to your normal activities or work? Do you still have to wear a neck brace? For how long?
Sorry Susan, that sounds like a terrible accident. You can see everything g I’ve covered so far in my neck recovery series here: ua-cam.com/play/PL7_G8KMD5KZ5O0_KB9LclB_UdlGlEMLiX.html&si=7sTlgyz9bDEyd0HD. I was back to normal day to day activities working a few months, conservatively. I am now back to my profession as a physical therapist. These surgeries were scary for me too. I have my function back now because of them.
I’ve also 2 surgeries on my c2 and 3 and c5and six I have spasticity in both legs and a drop foot on my right foot I have to walk with a splint and a rolleter
hi i had three cervical levels fused and plated , then i had five lumber discs and cages and rods and screws yes not a happy spine so yes i know the pain but thankfully after surgery i was kept in intensive care on ketamine for pain for three days , so yes its not a nice proceedure , so good luck, now i got home fell down two steps and then i needed a total knee replacement , so yes i know bone pain !
You couldn't sleep before or after surgery? I didn't sleep great for a few weeks after surgery. But I was uncomfortable but could sleep pre surgery. That's the blessing and curse of spinal cord compression versus nerve compression. Less Pain, but more global neuro issues with cord compression. Hope you are better now!
I’m so bummed. I had ACDF 3 years ago, and was doing great. No pain. Had a fall/slipped on ice last year. Anyway I’m down right now. I had left side pain and then had C4/5 C6/7. Noe pain in my right side… bad. 😢
I had this same surgery Oct 1st 2020, I had 3 herniated discs at C5 C6 C7, and they put that plate in with 4 screws. I don’t feel that burning on the left side of my neck anymore. But my right shoulders have been really really sore. Before the surgery they didn’t hurt. I keep wondering why they are hurting. But Dr Gee told me to take the bandage off my neck and I could get the spot wet, still no driving. And he wants me to continue to wear this awful brace everywhere and to bed....😩😩😩
Good luck! I wish you a full recovery! Make sure your surgeon knows your goals and especially if singing is important or part of your livelihood. My voice never went away, but it was definitely weaker for several months post op. Those muscles in there take a beating, even if your vocal cords are fine. Just give yourself time :). I’m just guessing from your name and profile pic than you are musical. Good luck!
@@Adriennewithane Thank you I appreciate that. Yes, I told the surgeon be extra careful with my laryngeal nerve. I do not mind waiting 3-6 months for my singing voice to recover if I have to as long as it does!
@@danoneall4013 Hi Dan, thanks for asking it went exceptionally well. I am no constant nerve pain now, just occasional numbness if I sit or lay or move in a certain position. The doctor said that is quite normal as the nerves need to bounce back more. It's till very early in the process but I feel 99% better than before. I got three titanium spacers with a couple of screws each. Pretty minimal. No cage and plates. I asked the doc about that and he said that is "older technology." You may want to ask your doc. It may be perfectly suited for you given your particular condition but in my case he said he did not need to do that. The first week is really rough and the second not great either but then it gets much better. I had no swallowing issues and no sore throat. Could have been that the less invasive spacers and also the fact I told the anesthesiologist that I was a singer. He was like I am glad you mentioned that I will use a tube that exerts less pressure. That seemed to help. Anyway, best of luck man it will be alright. God speed you will do fine. Think positive and let me know how it turns out.
I was praying for surgery, but my neuro prefers that go ahead with injections and PT first. You know, insurance has to drain everything they can first. I am in a lot of pain still. Getting injection tomorrow, start PT next week. God bless you, I understand that pain. Did you not have to wear a neck brace?
My c6-c7 is herniated and pushing into my spinal cord they wanna do same procedure to me I just found out today I’ve already been crying this is scary one wrong move fall accident I could be paralyzed
I need to have 3 levels replaced but because of covid, they are putting off any surgeries that require an overnight stay. So.... I'm kind of scared. But seeing this makes me feel a little better. Thank you for sharing.
I had a 3 level cervical spine fusion a year ago today. C3-C6. About 3 months ago, I started having the same exact pain you described here. Terrible pain across my shoulders and weakness/numbness down my whole right arm. An MRI showed problems at C7 that coincides with fresh nerve damage at C7 discovered in a NCT of my right arm. Yesterday, I scheduled a C7 fusion with my neurosurgeon for 11/03/2020. I'd love to hear from you in regards to how you're doing now..... My last surgery was a big one (3 levels) and it was a really rough recovery! I had trouble swallowing for nearly 12 weeks. I dropped 33 pounds in those 12 weeks. It took a long time for me to be able to eat solid food again. I had more pain from having my throat cut than I did from the actual spine surgery itself. I guess my question is...was it easier round 2? Was your surgeon able to use the same incision as before? And how are you feeling in general? Did your pain stop? Did the arm weakness and numbness go away? I'm having true anxiety over this, I didn't expect to have to go through this again....at least not just a year later! I hope you're doing much better now and if you can offer me any advice on things that you had to learn on your own after surgery that perhaps wasn't told to or discussed with you beforehand? I hope I'm making the right decision by going through with this surgery!
Hi Bambi, I hope you are doing Ok. I will say that my second surgery was an easier recovery than my first. I think there is a big difference between multi level and 1 level. For one, the surgery shouldn’t take as long so they won’t be in there “messing around” as much. I think a lot has to do with surgeon skill and your anatomy. So it’s subjective. My dr. Was not able to use the same incision because the levels were too far apart. I’ve actually done a few follow up videos on my second surgery that might answer your questions. I totally understand the anxiety, it sucks. But know that since you got through such a big surgery before, you’ll probably do well again. My second surgery did improve my numbness/ pain/ weakness. But just the nature of the “correction”. There’s still that risk of adjacent level degeneration. I wish you all the best! Let me know how you’re doing!
I’m 10 days out c5-C7. Still have neck pain, some shifting numbness mainly pinkies. What’s a drag for me is that every time i swallow, I feel like I’m being stabbed next to my right shoulder blade. Hurts worse than the damn surgery. I’m losing soo much muscle because I avoid eating n drinking. I hope they can fix that issue. Any thoughts?
Good question. Sometimes it can be nerve wracking, but I don’t really have a choice. I have to keep going for myself and my family. I just think that “this is only temporary” and will pass- either I’ll get used to it or I will get help and heal.
How are you doing now I’m 24 and need this surgery I’m struggling to walk and to move my arms 😭 there wanting to do a fusion on me I’m scared about fusion cause then they just pressure on the other he told me where I’m so young probably need another surgery later on any recommendation pls
C-3-4 and C4-5. Said C3-4 is larger and may require immediate surgery if the epidural doesn’t work.. I’m terrified, I have never had any surgeries and not sure where this has come from m. Started with neck pain on leftcsiad on Wednesday off for 2 years then a lil jaw pain now I’m having pressure in my left ear and temple all the time with the pain sometimes in neck n jaw I’m so terrified I don’t no how long will surgery be if I go that route and how long is down time and does it work.. and if shots work then will the symptoms still get worse if no surgery or not.. I’m just a scared confused lady who just lost her mom aug 29 at 61 from having surgery a bypass of the main artery though.. the thank you for your video.
No, he said collar only if I wanted. I used it in the car for the first few weeks (as a passenger) and anytime I got very fatigued after my disc replacement, but he said the plate and screws will do all the work after my fusion... so far so good 10 months after surgery #2 :)
Pretty much status quo. All my pre surgery symptoms are back to normal. I do have to be careful with my posture and I have personally chosen to avoid super strenuous or jarring activities. Hop you're doing well.
Sorry to bother you. Just saw your video. I will be staying inpatient for one night for a C5-6 FUSION CERVICAL ANTERIOR LEVEL 1 procedure. How will I do at home by myself pain wise? My procedure is on Wednesday this week of May 2023. Any response might be helpful. I'm nervous.....
It's not a bother. I think pain is really subjective and dependent on a lot of factors. My single level procedure was a very easy recover. My first surgery was 2 levels and quite a bit more painful and I needed someone with me for the first 2 days at least to help me roll out of bed, get my shirt over my head etc. I was very stiff, not just painful. If you can have some help try to get some for at least the first week. I had lifting restrictions of no more than a gallon of milk. No housework etc, very limited "work" for your arms. My head was "heavy" for the first few days too, I had to use my hands to help brace and lift my head from a reclined or lying down position so I didn't strain my neck. But everyone is different pain wise. I didn't have as much pain as I had stiffness and some soreness. If you take it easy, it will heal better, don't force it. I wish you all the best for a skilled surgery and a speedy recovery!
@@anonnymous2198 agreed. If you’ve got the anatomy for it and if your surgeon is experienced, disc replacement is the way to go. I have 2 disc replacements and 1 fusion.
Thank you for posting this! I am two weeks out from ACDF surgery and have been having some difficulty with deciding on the hybrid approach or the multi-level fusion. For me, it is C5-C7. I am in my 40s and very active (two young children as well). I have very similar symptoms to what you describe. This video is 3 years old. Are you still satisfied with the outcome of the hybrid procedure? Thanks again!
Yes. I am still happy with my choice. I do have probably more shoulder aches, headaches, but that could be regular aging or from the initial injury. I had 2 surgeries 2 years apart, so im not sure what doing all 3 levels at once would have been like.
You said that "my numbness went away" after the first 2-level surgery. When did that happen, approximately? I ask because at the 6-week video, you said there was still numbness in your hands. Thanks for the videos!
Yes, my numbness did eventually go away, it was a very gradual process. I can't pinpoint an exact time. I even still get numbness very easily like when leaning on my arms or when sleeping, but it goes away. Could be positioning, or residual, but it comes on much more quickly than before. But on a day to day basis, it is gone. I honestly don't remember when I could say it was all the way gone, but I had significant improvement initially, and then it took another month or two-ish to fully resolve.
I'm about to have my 1st cervical spine surgery. I'm have a trifusion. And I really nervous. I've hady lower lumber fusion and that was very painful so I'm scared of what neck fusion will feel like.
Hey. My partner had a C6/C7 herniation and had surgery. He’s never spoken to anyone who’s had the same so was wondering if you had any form of social media I could chat with you on? Thanks.
I didn’t take too much ibuprofen. Maybe a few pills a day. I have a low threshold for meds, so it doesn’t take much to affect me. As far as numbness, google a Myotome/ dermatome chart and it will help you associate your numbness or weakness with a spinal level if that’s really the case.
I've followed you with you ADR surgery because I had the same surgery with same disks. I also have a herniation at C 6/7 not fixed. MAY, 2ND was one year post op for me. Well I'm having some issues again and they think it's a tendon but my surgeon only did an xray. Did you have to have a special test for your neck after this surgery for more detail?? Because he says they can't do an MRI and I need help. Anyway so I went to an Orthopaedic and I do have tendon issues with my shoulder. I fell 6 months out of surgery. I did have an injection in my right shoulder and I'm much better now so hopefully that's the issue but there is still a lingering neck pain. Ugh. Someone said if you have one surgery you are doomed for another. I hope that's not the case.. Anyway how does ACDF compare to ADR surgery pain wise?
Sorry you have to do this too. I if you look into the research, there is a chance of other segments of the spine degenerating due to the stress on them since one segment doesn’t move. Look up adjacent segment disease. In my case my third level was already bad/ building before surgery and it just wasn’t bad enough to fix originally. There’s no guarantee it will go bad, but over time, it can happen. Less likely with a disc replacement with artificial disc than with fusion, but not everyone can have disc replacement.
Nope. I got a soft one for comfort which I used when riding in the car (as a passenger) to soften the bumps. My surgeon said for disc replacement you want to maintain movement, not restrict it.
Hi, I am in the United States, so I'm not sure the best place to recommend for you. I found a good surgeon, and went to the hospital he was affiliated with. It was a spine hospital specifically. The cost was very high, but after insurance, we still had to pay several thousand dollars for the surgeon, the hospital, the supplies and the implant, as well as anethesia and nursing etc. It's very expensive, but luckily insurance helps. I wish you the best.
How did you find a spine surgeon to do your operation. You seem quite cheerful. Hope I am close to the same. Also, since the surgery is in the upper part of your body, is their any problem of doing your normal thing in going to the bathroom. Obviously, I am a newbee about all of this. Hope my question and your answer will help us neophytes on this subject.
If you check out my first video I talk about having consultations with 4 different surgeons before picking the one I wanted to use: ua-cam.com/video/FahzmkUXmx4/v-deo.html I got many opinions and weighed my options. As far as hygiene, I did not have any real issues. Movement in general can be difficult right after surgery, so washing my face, (bending over the sink) or washing my hair (arms over head) were hard for the first week or so. I did not have any bowel and bladder issues, but when something is pushing on your spinal cord, or a lumbar spine area, that can be a real concern.
I am having my C6C7 fused on Wednesday 2.24.2021 and want to know if the numbness and tingling in my arm and hands will go away immediately after surgery. What other advice do you have for me?
My numbness was immediately improved. I think it depends on how long you’ve been having trouble. My best advice is to really really take it easy... you may feel really good in a week, but you need to give it a while before you’re trying to do anything besides daily self care tasks like showers etc. no cleaning, walking heavy dogs that can pull you, repetitive tasks like folding laundry are just as bad as heavy lifting. Have people around to help you, and let them. Good luck! Do your best to relax in the next few days. Trust that you’re in the best possible hands. It’s a common surgery even though we feel like it’s insane...
I had acdf on c6-c7 a week ago. My issues were on the right side. I didn’t have many symptoms because mine extruded so badly it moved downward so I felt the pain from the c8 nerve root. Now I’m having c6c7 symptoms on my left! They say it’s normal. Did you have any issues like this? I don’t know how I could have new c6-c7 symptom on the other side if he took it out Just curious what kind of aches and pains you had
Diana G. I would say I have heard from others that it can get worse before it gets better. As that nerve “wakes up”. Hard to say. I didn’t have worsening of symptoms at the same level, but after my 2 level disc replacement in 2018 I started having early symptoms at 6-7 which is where I eventually had this most recent fusion. I do remember after a few weeks worrying that I am not getting better... but it did. I joined a few Acdf and disc replacement groups on fb and many people spoke of the roller coaster recovery. It takes time. Best wishes!
I had 3 levels fused c4-7 (10-26/20). I am having lots of shoulder pain and discomfort. Just wondering if this is going to dissipate and go away. I am so irritated that it disrupts my day like this. Physical therapy doesn’t do anything for this. He didn’t seem to be to worried about it. Any thoughts? Thanks for the video.
I know that can be so frustrating. I too have felt that shoulder blade pain. I think that is a common complaint. I wish I had better advice. If it doesn't go away I would say after 6-8 months, or gets worse, it's worth another talk with your doctor. Hopefully you're having follow up appointments and can mention this. Having 3 levels fused at once is a big surgery. It may take some time.
Check NIPH for shoulder pain after C6-c7 fusion. They say you will always have it. Then talk to a Pain management MD about getting a NEVRO spinal cord stimulator inplanted. Better than hurting forever.
Very much general anesthesia + intubation. It is major surgery. In fact, I think I was immobilized/ strapped down so that I didn’t move/ flinch while they’re in there so close to such vital nerves and blood supply.
Not recommended per my surgeon. I only had a soft collar for comfort. Every situation is different. I am 3.5 years out from this video and everything is ok.

Yup, this was over a year ago. Doing pretty well these days! Thanks for the comment.
getting set up for my 2nd surgery thanks for your post I almost talked myself out of my surgery
Hi Joe, my name is Amanda. I live in AZ. I’ve had ACDR at c 5-6 & c6-7. 20 yrs ago. I now need ACDF surgery at c 4-5. I’m so very nervous. How are you doing?
@@amandahunt4539 Hey Amanda good luck with your surgery I am nervous also I had c5 c6 fusion 10 yrs ago now I need c4 c5
thank s for the info ! good recorery for you my dear
Thank You! 🙏🌹
i had work accident that led to c6/c7 fusion.
Did they diagnose you with CRPS for the burning pain. Pray all is well
Thank you for posting this.
@@SlyWolf5 sorry for the added surgery, glad for a quick resolution for you. Still ok over here 👍🏻
Thank you for your post, I accidentally came across this video, I have alot going on in my neck, I fell i went airborne on my fall I went up in the air about 6' when I came down my head hit the concrete floor 1st with a 2nd bounce at the same time a metal base plate with a 2 and a half metal tip sticking up from that that went through my ribs in my back, my MRI said I had myelomasia? and I needed to get 3 maybe 4 disc removed in my neck, I scheduled the surgery but got to scared to go through with it so I've been on pain management for over a year now, they said they would go through my throat and I think thats what scared me, I already have failed back surgery from fusion in my L5S1, I'm going to go back and try to watch your other videos maybe I will overcome my fear of this immenent surgery, I hope you feel better soon, WHEN did they say you can return to your normal activities or work? Do you still have to wear a neck brace? For how long?
Sorry Susan, that sounds like a terrible accident. You can see everything g I’ve covered so far in my neck recovery series here: ua-cam.com/play/PL7_G8KMD5KZ5O0_KB9LclB_UdlGlEMLiX.html&si=7sTlgyz9bDEyd0HD. I was back to normal day to day activities working a few months, conservatively. I am now back to my profession as a physical therapist. These surgeries were scary for me too. I have my function back now because of them.
Sorry 2022 how you feeling these days hope you are okay these days God bless you
I’ve also 2 surgeries on my c2 and 3 and c5and six I have spasticity in both legs and a drop foot on my right foot I have to walk with a splint and a rolleter
Great video
hi i had three cervical levels fused and plated , then i had five lumber discs and cages and rods and screws yes not a happy spine so yes i know the pain but thankfully after surgery i was kept in intensive care on ketamine for pain for three days , so yes its not a nice proceedure , so good luck, now i got home fell down two steps and then i needed a total knee replacement , so yes i know bone pain !
You could actually sleep? I couldnt sleep for months w/o oxys for the pain. Had my c6/c7 fused and was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease.
If anyone is watching these videos, dont be afraid to take the pain meds if you need them.
I’m so bummed. I had ACDF 3 years ago, and was doing great. No pain. Had a fall/slipped on ice last year. Anyway I’m down right now. I had left side pain and then had C4/5 C6/7. Noe pain in my right side… bad. 😢
How are you now?
I had this same surgery Oct 1st 2020, I had 3 herniated discs at C5 C6 C7, and they put that plate in with 4 screws. I don’t feel that burning on the left side of my neck anymore. But my right shoulders have been really really sore. Before the surgery they didn’t hurt. I keep wondering why they are hurting. But Dr Gee told me to take the bandage off my neck and I could get the spot wet, still no driving. And he wants me to continue to wear this awful brace everywhere and to bed....😩😩😩
You make it seem so easy. I have the same issue and the only thing is to have surgery. Or I can end up in a wheelchair 🦽
I am scheduled for c4-c7 disk fusion in a few weks, I hope the pain goes away and that I can sing and talk again normally.
@@WysteriaGuitar - How was your surgery and recovery?
I'm having the same surgery done in 5 days. c4 - c7 with screws and plates & a cage
Nice video
Thanks
Need like that to about further information
How u keep yourself motivated
Good question. Sometimes it can be nerve wracking, but I don’t really have a choice. I have to keep going for myself and my family. I just think that “this is only temporary” and will pass- either I’ll get used to it or I will get help and heal.
Thanks for sharing
How are you doing now I’m 24 and need this surgery I’m struggling to walk and to move my arms 😭 there wanting to do a fusion on me I’m scared about fusion cause then they just pressure on the other he told me where I’m so young probably need another surgery later on any recommendation pls
Hello there how you feeling after the second surgery this year 2020
Is your neck movement restricted to a certain range after your C6-7 fusion surgery? are you able to move your neck freely as before? Kindly reply
Hi Adrienne. Me again. Did you lose some neck mobility having your C6 and C7 fused ?
Hi. Great video. Where did you get your surgery done?
I live in Indiana, so I had it done at a spine center in Indy.
How much days it takes to she walk & sit plz tell me she got major operation C3 to C7
How are you now ?
Did your surgeon request you to wear a collar? Mine didn’t and I thought that was weird. I had c6-7
No, he said collar only if I wanted. I used it in the car for the first few weeks (as a passenger) and anytime I got very fatigued after my disc replacement, but he said the plate and screws will do all the work after my fusion... so far so good 10 months after surgery #2 :)
How ya doing now 4 years later. I'm little over 2 weeks post op same thing
Get a disk if you can. Fusion should be a last resort
@@anonnymous2198 agreed. If you’ve got the anatomy for it and if your surgeon is experienced, disc replacement is the way to go. I have 2 disc replacements and 1 fusion.
How did you take off the tape on your neck?
You straight neck issue?
Hello madam how are you now
Hey. My partner had a C6/C7 herniation and had surgery. He’s never spoken to anyone who’s had the same so was wondering if you had any form of social media I could chat with you on? Thanks.
How much Ibuprofen and were was numbness. I might have a c6 and c7 compression
Anyway how does ACDF compare to ADR surgery pain wise?
so fixing one causes another. ??? Im do for a c5-c6 and im petrified. Have sleep apnea and body does not like the gas anesthesia.
I'm meeting with surgeon and I have sleep apnea too... Did the Dr say anything else about apnea and this surgery?
@@robstillwell6794 no
Were you not given a neck brace?
Nope. I got a soft one for comfort which I used when riding in the car (as a passenger) to soften the bumps. My surgeon said for disc replacement you want to maintain movement, not restrict it.
My c6 c7 is pressing on my spinal cord. Ive had dizziness, tinnitus, and tingling down my left arm.has anybody had these symptoms?
I think those are all common symptoms
May I know if you had cervical spondylosis before doing this operation?
No not for me, no bone spurs or degeneration of the bones, just the discs for me. We’ll see if the surgeries cause any breakdown over time...
Hi,
Just want to know
In which hospital you did surgery and what cost come?
I belongs from india, suggest best hospital for surgery
Hi, I am in the United States, so I'm not sure the best place to recommend for you. I found a good surgeon, and went to the hospital he was affiliated with. It was a spine hospital specifically. The cost was very high, but after insurance, we still had to pay several thousand dollars for the surgeon, the hospital, the supplies and the implant, as well as anethesia and nursing etc. It's very expensive, but luckily insurance helps. I wish you the best.
Can you turn your head at all I am looking at the same problem
yup! we have about 50% of our rotation from C1-2, so I have almost full motion, but I do feel tightness/ stiffness at the endranges. It's not perfect.
I don’t know how I could have new c6-c7 symptom on the other side if he took it out
Just curious what kind of aches and pains you had
Adrienne thank you so much. I feel better. I hope you are doing well!
Mine is messed up like yours, thanks for sharing
You were given general or local anesthesia?
Very much general anesthesia + intubation. It is major surgery. In fact, I think I was immobilized/ strapped down so that I didn’t move/ flinch while they’re in there so close to such vital nerves and blood supply.
Thank you, very much.
Should be wearing your neck brace!
Not recommended per my surgeon. I only had a soft collar for comfort. Every situation is different. I am 3.5 years out from this video and everything is ok.
My surgeon didn’t recommend it either. You can’t break the hardware and they encourage movement. I gave it for the car and when I’m out of the house.
My mother also get operation only 4 days is over but she is not sit can't walk & leg is not moving when it get cure plz tell me.......😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
