"If your band is rehearsing in a civilised manner" lol that killed me.
I just got the 50w and it sounds awesome..I use my ampeg br100 100w for shows in which i only go up to about 3 1/2 to 4 when it comes to volume cause most of the venues we play are not that big usually small bars or clubs and we really don't play that loud..I'm actually going to try the 50w this weekend at our next show and see how much it cranks out with full band..
So i took my Orange Crush 50w to a show we had on saturday and it far exceeded my expectations.I took my Ampeg Br-100 just incase but i didn't need it.I had my volume up to about 11 almost at noon and the amp was loud enough..Thus again we are a cover band and don't play that loud, but still i think the amp performed pretty good, better than i thought..
Yeah, those amps sound pretty good (I have the 50), but I could listen to that bassist for hours
Pretty much jealous of all of Rene's skills. Always musical... that's ridiculously hard especially when you're doing demo nuggets for us geeks.
As someone who initially started with the 25 watt Orange crush, get at least the 50 watt. I immediately regretted NOT going for the 50. For my purposes (I mostly use the amp for practice), the 50 is plenty, and you could probably mic it if needed at a gig.
Im a metal bassist so im saving for the 100 watt for gigs...
@@elyogito5621 also planning to save up for the 100...smaller metal gigs and studio recording. It's a year since your comment, so did you buy it? How does it perform? :)
Was thinking that when I tested the 25. Felt like it was plenty, but also lacking. They didn't have a 50 in stock, to test, but might just go for that.
Almost every venue has PA so the 50 seems a good deal great for home and mic-able, and its just about carry-able on public transport with your bass strapped to your back, nice comment.
Super jealous of Rene’s muting technique! Especially has left hand. sorry if I got the wrong name or spelt that wrong!
it was perfect actually. except your spelling of spelled as spelt :)
@@AlanJWatkins I'm English. Spelt and spelled are both past-tense versions of SPELL here. Like leaped or leapt. We use T (sometimes PT) instead of double-letter-E-D quite frequently.
Thanks for the pointless and patronising response though.
@@xneurianx i actually didnt know that. im american, but my mum is from belfast, and i sometimes say zed for z and count on my fingers with my thumb for 1. which is really odd here.
honestly, it made me smile. i hadnt actually noticed his left muting tech til i saw it.
Another consideration is mass: 25=8.3kg, 50=14.5kg, 100=24.25kg. Carrying probably over 1/4 of your body mass in amp + a bass, and bag of leads & pedals to a gig will cripple you before you play a note, especially if using public transport... at least the 100 is comfortable to sit on if there are no seats on the bus , tube or train.
Good review - I'm thinking about the crush 100. And good work to your gnome for his bass skills :)
Rene is on another level.
I want to hear the narrator say, "Get to the chopper!!!!".
"Get down, get down there se bomb get outta here" 😂🤣
I'd like to see a shootout between the Crush and Fender Rumble. My sense is the Fender might win, but who knows?
I can tell you that I used to own a Rumble 25 v3 and sold it to get one of these Crush Bass 25 combos. The Orange Bass 25 has noticeable better bass tone definition to my ears and more responsive EQ on every band. The Rumble 25's mid and highs are borderline non-existent.
@@julioguerrero8849cheers :)
not a chance, American for Bass & guitars 100% but British for Amps. Marshall Vox and Orange are some of the best sounds you can get
@@eoin6395 hello
That bass is beautiful
Jack Ansell is it a thunderbird?
The 50 would also do great for home studio recording
Clicked Cuz that sexy Thunderbird
I got mine in black too 🔥
Edit: my friends band needed a bassist so I traded the black 50 for an orange 💯
Is it worth the upgrade? I'm not gigging right now, but it really seems like if I want to ever jam or play this upgrade is a no-brainer up front instead of buying something else later.
i never played a note on a bass and the 100 has got me hooked like 6 to 10 hours a day thats my lockdown
I am infinitely more interested in the bass guitar at 3:13. What is it? What are all of these basses? They all look great.
That’s a Sandberg Forty Eight
Jesus that 25 sounds pretty good actually.
Mr. Flächsenhaar has it going on
Rene always kills it
Ready to watch anything, with René performing. My icon of playing style
Don't like this test for one reason: not enough information. I own the Crush Bass 100 for a couple of months, and some, from my point of view, quite important issues have not been addressed. E.g, weight: the 100 weighs almost 25 kg (appr. 54 lbs), and that's quite a LOT for a combo. Due to the two massive handles, it can be moved quite well (better than an OBC212 cab with only one handle at the top), but a tc electronic BG250-115 weighs about 18 kg (about 40 lbs). If you want to carry the combo around a lot, that's quite a difference.
Another issue: it's nice to have a DI Out, but it's not nice you can't control the volume or choose pre/post EQ.
Tuner: works quite well for me. But I'm missing a Mute button when tuning the instrument.
EQ: it's quite common for amps to hiss when treble (and maybe hi mids) are boosted to the max. To me, yeah, there is some hissin', but not that loud.
Another thing that's loud: when turning on the amp, there is a cracking sound from the speaker. That's disappointing for a combo that comes at around 500 Euros. A relais swith isn't that expensive, and it should be a standard even in combos.
It should be mentioned that the overdrive section is ... well ... not exactly subtle. Just to add some kind of crunch - no way. It's nice to have the lows clean and only the mids and highs distorted, but it's REALLY distorted. Some will love it, some will hate this feature.
Last, but not least: the sound. Guys, you have a Terror Bass just behind you. A comparison to the "full-scale" Orange amps would have been most interesting. Of course, the combos won't have the punch and the sheer power of their cousins, but is the sound of the combos "Orange-like", just to a smaller degree? Or is it something completely different?
By the way, I like the Crush 100! To me, it has a surprisingly tight sound for a 15 inch speaker. The combo goes deep, but never gets muddy. It's loud enough for me to use it even in the rehearsal room, but, of course, headroom is limited. I purchased mine as a used one for 320 Euros - the pre-owner didn't want to carry it around any longer. Weight definitely is an issue, the other negatives are, well, a nuisance, but I can live with it. I'd give the Orange Crush Bass 100 four of five stars.
I see some vovox cables going in an apogee element, you sir have some taste ;)
What kind of Orange Amp isn’t orange?!
Bass player from Chechnya!
The amp has a nice clean sound
With beard and charisma! Wow!
Oooooh the best sound ever...
Hi all. In the manual says that the pad button is for basses with active pickups. Well, I have passive pickups with an internal preamp. Shoud I turn on the PAD?
AWESOME
What’s your perfect setting on the Crush bass 100? Too many dials !
I think that I've used these settings live with both a passive P bass and an active PJ bass: treble 7 o'clock, middle 9 o'clock, freq 7 o'clock, bass 11 o'clock, blend 8 o'clock and gain 8 o'clock. I am by no means a pro when it comes to shaping bass tone + I like my tone quite "bassy", but hopefully these settings could give you some direction at least :)
Thanks
I have to try Orange amp one day
Your voice is so cool dude.
Does it have a line out???
Hi! I’m thinking on buying the 50 watt for recording... do you think I’d have enough power to record with it? Thank you.
Sure. Volume is not really a concern for recording
Really dig that Thunderbird looking bass, its not a real Tbird ;so what is it,and where can i get one
sandberg 48
Those things are really expensive
@@no-ff8gm yea,yea they are,i never heard of Sandberg until this ,and im actually kind of glad, ive never plsyed a high end bass, but i still dont see why they charge the ridiculous prices they do for some of these things
Does the 25 is usable for playing in a small bar
I wouldn’t do that
BassTheWorld.com thx m8
Lmao
Andres Valle why
@@clementgaillard1308 idk its just funny
100 W isnt enough. I purchased a Crush 100 few months ago. DI is noisy, you cant adjust the volume. Expect to get a certain amount of noise instead of silence while recording. When you crank the volumes of the treble and mid you hear a hiss. I record the combo with my condenser mic to avoid the DI. The combo is very loud, so I guess installing a better power transformer, higher than 100 W would do it justice. I am not an expert, it is just my guess that the amp with so much volume capacity would not clip if it had a better trafo. Single coil pickups are noisy (ex. Strat) in this case, so 100 W is not sufficient. It is purely bass-centered. Your trebles will hiss and hum.
I love mine. No hiss or anything. I also have a Gallien-krueger that's 300 w but I dont use it just because the top end has a hiss to it.
@@laseone86 Can the Crush 100 Handle small/medium venues without using the direct out? Nobody can answer this for me. Rock style, 3 piece.
@@Gegatso someone said a 50 watt was enough for those too ans possibly micing it
@@Gegatso i would assume so just crank that volume up
@@elyogito5621 The Crush 100 cannot handle anything loud at all. The OB-1 combo is what I ended up with. 300 watts and it is insanely loud and anywhere from crystal clean to dirty as can be. hopefully this helps other folks out. Crush 100 is a bedroom amp. Seriously. Unless you practice at talking volume, which I know nobody who does.
I know we're meant to be doing the amp here, but Reneé Flash-beard's J Bass sounds like someone is pouring liquid magic into my ears. I'm watching this on a smaller screen but, is it a Sandberg?
Can you play these amps with an active bass too?
No, the power from the 9 volt will set the speaker cone on fire if it overheats.
Yes, you can. These amps have a -6 dB "Pad" button for this reason.
Catch on fire...lol!
Can you use the xlr on the crush 100 with an interface and record to a computer?
Yes
Where do you get your basses?
What is the bass in the thumbnail called? This is urgent
Sandberg Forty Eight
this or ampeg ba112?
This because it's budget higher end than the ampeg. Orange rocks.
Is the 100 loud enough for reheasel (so drums in the same room)
A general rule is your bass amp should be double of the guitar wattage. So if you guitar amp is 50w then the 100w should be alright.
@@gordonchen9510 what is the double Wattage of a very loud Drummer?
@lukasb2790 a 100 w bass amp + 50 to 100 watt guitar amp should do you well. You could also mic up the amp for more volume
@@gordonchen9510 now I feel bad;-) IT was a joke. My Drummer ist extremely loud and Iam happy, that I bought a 500 Watt Amp (not that I need the full power), but I think 100w could have been a bit to less (for Hardcore/Punk)
Love this riff at @3:50 sexxxyyy tappin
Autumn leaves
The only time I thought slap bass sounded awesome!
Would have been cool to see it acoustically in a room, not mic'd with an acoustic guitar to guage how loud it actually is.
I like this guy better
Rene could make a potato sound amazing!
The knobs and jacks look is sooo chinese poor.
Agreed. They could have done better lol. I hope the price reflects the knobs.
