That's an anothet reason why Deus Ex is awesome, all thoose aesthetics and all... Imagine that Neon Cyberpunk lights and all, or normal life, at day, there, wouldn't be too great
I listened to this a lot when I worked night shift delivering newspapers. It was oddly fitting, because the job involved accessing a lot of areas that most people never get to see at those hours, which made it feel vaguely video game-like already.
@@Nymfipapukaija this unironically sounds like fun. I kinda understand what you are talking about cause I used to listen to this ost a lot when I was a freelancer and liked to go outside at odd hours, like 4 am
@JooseMunkee this plays into the endings, during the game the world is covered in shroud of conspiracy, literally and metaforically, while nearing the end JC is about to "enlighten" humanity and as he says himself in the Helios ending it's "the dawning of a new day"
"Heads up, JC. Your brother Paul is on his way to meet you at the dock. The NSF is raiding the island, and shots have been fired. I repeat: find Paul. I will monitor your situation from HQ."
I remember when I first played Deus Ex and I had to meet Paul, I didn't know who was an ally or enemy so I started shooting him. I was stuck on that level for three days. :D
@ Actually I did that as well. I gave up on Deus Ex apparently. After almost 2 weeks, I read the adobe manual which came with the game and understood the importance of different crosshair colours. Played this game for two months after that.
@@Ragitsu Too awesome. I had a hard time finding a good spot for it in my personal library. Ah, the good old days of BioWare before DA2 and Anthem kinda ruined things.
When your game's soundtrack is composed by Alexander Brandon, the same guy who did Unreal Tournament, you KNOW the soundtrack is going to be good without even having to listen to it. This is one of the greatest music pieces I have ever heard And come on: It's DEUS EX: Everytime you mention it, SOMEONE will reinstall it.
If Alexander Brandon, Stewart Copeland, and Jerobeam Fenderson teamed up to make a video game soundtrack, that would probably be the best video game soundtrack in the history of video game soundtracks.
i started this game at night. it was storming outside and i was streaming the game through discord to show him it. ill never forget. i said "this game man....it just gives me such an eerie vibe im almost scared to play it." as those words left my mouth and the dark music sank in chills went down my spine. then like clockwork. a flash of lighting and my power was out. i was awe struck. and after the power came back up i binged through this magnificent game like there was no tomorrow.
Looks unlikely. It would have been nice to see it before the attacks too, you know, so you could visit attractions without being treated like a terrorist.
And to think the introduction to this level was supposed to have "Six months later" stamped on it so to show that the meeting between Bob Page and Walton Simons basically timeskips to the main game... the jump without it sure made it feel that things are happening simultaneously. Edit: Always pick the GEP Gun, newcomers and veterans. You'll get the other two weapons if you explore enough of the island.
First time I played the game I picked up the GEP Gun. But since I reainstalled my Windows, I had to play it again and picked up the darts this time. Totally regret this.
Even though I use the GEP gun more, I actually like picking the sniper and waiting until the escape from HQ to take the GEP gun, because that way I don’t use up my entire rocket supply in the first couple levels
this is probably one of my most fave songs in the game, for some reason; not sure why. LOL i guess it gives me fond memories of when i first played the game and dealt with the area this goes with.
Don't forget System Shock 2, another great dark survival sci-fi horror RPG classic, Deus Ex felt like the successor to both Thief and System Shock 2 though.
One time in biology class there was this nerdy kid who was being a jerk to everyone and he was wearing airpods while talking to other people for some reason. He left his phone sitting face up with spotify open so I just tapped the pause button and he got all huffy. “Did you pause my music?” he said angrily. From there the people in his group got mad at him for acting out, then he started arguing with them while some other group was yelling at him across the room to be quiet. Mfw I activated the berserker killswitch in his augmentations.
Whoever can tell me ten of the games (that you played yourself) that I wish I will always remember the music to; will get a free plane ticket to where I live, for a week. I want to meet people that has the same kind of childhood when it comes to amazing games. Because I struggle to have found anyone so far at the places I've been to!
I only listen to this soundtrack at night because it's never daytime in the game.

For some reason, this is really, really good music for aiding concentration when on in the background, not to mention its motivating.
I too find it motivating when infiltrating island bases.
Yeah its ambient music, its typical for this type of music
