The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to UV Resin Jewelry For A Side Hustle
Warning: Important Health and Safety Notice:
Resin is an industrial chemical and as such should always be treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken. Here is a video I have made on how I keep myself safe: • Stop Making Yourself I...
When I first came upon your channel and wonderful creations, I was in a pretty dark place. UV resin was the first thing I gave a go after seeing what you did with it and, I'm sure you've heard this sentiment lots of times from your other subscribers and members, but it was genuinely the beginning of coming out of that darkness and rediscovering my love for crafting and making arty things. There are absolutely no words that could properly convey how much I value your existence, Steve. You have made a massive difference to me and, I am deeply grateful to you. Thank you for all that you do mate 💜✨🌈
I've been in a dark place since falling down stairs while I was on holiday (I'm teetotal).
I tore ligaments and muscles in my foot and ankle and it put me in a deep depression .
I have been feeling sorry for myself since July so I have started to binge watch all of Steve's videos since then to cheer me up
@@lynn69jackson Sending you lots of healing vibes and well wishes Lynn, I hope you have a speedy recovery and find many lights in the darkness to help you through! 💜✨🌈🫂
i was speaking to a lady yesterday who makes and sells her uv resin in a little shop on the side of a garden centre, had I seen something like the set you made I would have been thrilled. Steve you are so so talented. A******
Thank you, that means a lot
I went through cancer 2023. And chemo was hard, so i took my mind off it by your resin tutorials & craft making tips & tricks. Since then i have accumulated lots of jewelry bits . I sell bits now to friends & family. I love seeing new videos pop up 👻
You can solve the sticky resin issue a lot of the time by putting the piece in a glass of water, then running it for another 180 seconds. It is a result of too much oxygen getting onto the resin, and stops it from curing properly, but putting it in Water stops that from happening.
thank u! im new to resin and didnt know how to solve this issue
Steve, I absolutely love watching your creative process! I too struggle with mental illness, so I understand how overwhelming it can be at times. My love and prayers are always with you! I want you to know that your videos always make me so happy to watch! You are an inspiration for so many! Sending you even more love and hugs from the USA! ❤🫶🏻
Thank you that means a lot to me
I've watched a lot of your videos recently and I've pulled out my lockdown stuff again ;). Thank you. I'm waiting on my uv kit to arrive. Can I suggest a chop stick with blue tack on the end to pick up your nail art x
I’m pleased I could help. Thank you for the brilliant chopstick tip.
Absolutely gorgeous 😍
I just found your channel. I just ordered a uv light and a bottle of uv resin. Can you please tell me if this is safe to do in my kitchen at my table. I live in a very tiny apartment, and that's the only room I have to do crafts in. Thank you
New subscriber. I love your channel and videos. So, inspiring the step-by-step process and the beautiful pieces you make. Thank you. Looking forward to more.
I really enjoy when numerous items are made in the video.. thankyou for sharing and the great demonstrations❤
Beautiful jewellery 😊
Lovely pieces, Steve. You have re inspired me with this video to get my bezels out and have a go.
Wonderful! Have fun
Looking beautiful Steve, I'm sure it will be a brilliant tutorial for new users x❤
I love these pieces. My favorite is the stained glass rectangle.
Hurray! Thank you for helping me find a Christmas gift for my younger sister. She uses UV resin and I've just ordered her some of the colored UV resins from JDiction! Big Squishy Hugs from a Big Squishy Grandma!
Very pretty
Thank you, Steve, I have been following you on FB and watching your videos here. I thank you for the energy you bring to this art form, for being a risk-taker, and for making messes to teach us that it's no big deal❤
These are beautiful. You are so talented. I enjoy your videos so much. ✌️❤️🤣 peace, love and happiness
I love the butterfly one

I love the way the blue and white swirled ones look, but I also love that stained glass style pendant!
I had no choice but to subscribe!
Steve I have been following you for awhile and have learned so much. Thank you for this video also!!! Love the pendants. I do do craft shows and this will help

Oh, my gosh, this was a most wonderful tutorial. Thank you so much. Love it!!!
Everything is so pretty! I love those pendants, and especially the butterfly keyring!
I love the color uv resin save time to mixing 😍
They all turned out awesome. Steve, thank you so much for sharing.❤❤❤❤
I absolutely LOVE the one with the rocks. It’s beautiful!!
These Creative Artworks are Amazing !!✨🙌
I would have never thought to use flower foam! I have been avoiding my favorite moon bezels because I didn't have a good way to do them because the bezel hole is the wrong direction. I have tried several methods like tiny canvases and hanging the top over an edge. Thank you so much Steve!!!
P.S. Do you have the earring mold that looks like a candy corn? I have some really nice glow in the dark UV resin and wanted to make some, but I am having problems with the layers. Any tips?
Thank you so much for sharing info on resin jewelry making methods.
Whenever I’m feeling stuck for ideas you are my go to channel as I always find something to try. 🥰 With the solid rings, do you buy lots of sizes? Or order specially? Thanks again for the inspiration 🙏🏻
Yay! Thank you!
This was fun and very informative. Thank you. I will be starting soon. ❤
I love how simply you showed how to make thank you. I love the way they all came out. I love jdiction UV I also tried there 4 hour cure is excellent. Thank you for teaching.

Great ideas for UV resin makes.
I love ur works keep it up
Love this! Thank you! 🌟
Thanks!
Hi always love your videos, but notice that you only have UK and USA Links, but I wonder how many Canadians follow this channel?
Very pretty ❤
Stunning!
very nice tutorial
Steve-that stained glass with the white center is BEGGING to be personalized…or a “faith” or “love” or “brave” or whatever sticker for that center. 😅❤
Thanks for sharing such great info
Beautiful
Great workshop
Wonderful tutorial.
Thank you for all the information. Could you do one on pricing, and packaging??
I have a couple of those on the channel that may help you. 😊
Love this! You mentioned as you were putting on the tape that if they leak it can easily be cleaned up but I didn’t catch if that happened in this video. How would you suggest cleaning up leaks? Thanks!
You always want things to be easy. easyPeezy does it lol lol 😊
Beautiful! ❤
Hi, I'm very interested in this and I really love your video...
I'm from the solomon Islands and I have never seen anyone in my country doing this... so I want to be the first to do it here, so can you help me get the tools needed..??...
I have searched everywhere for these resins and cant find what you have shown in this video! Do you recommend any other type? I’m in canada
I have recently started doing resin projects and came across your channel and find your videos very helpful. I am watching your old videos and perhaps you have answered this question but I haven’t found it yet. How do you know how much resin to mix so you have enough but not too much? Thank you
With UV it just comes out of the bottle. Resins that have to be mixed with a hardener is a different process. You can fill it up with dried beans or popcorn kernels. Or you can do the same with water. Then put the beans or water in a measuring cup. With molds that would be difficult to pour out the beans or water, I suggest the following. Put some water in a measuring cup and pout it into the mold. If you have two cups of water and you use a cup you have your measurement. Use a water proof market and write the amount on the back of the mold.
Steve, have you ever used NicPro UV? If you have what I'd you like or dislike about it?
Sorry haven’t used it. I tend to stick with JDiction as I have had so many issues with uv resin brands in the past.
Hi Steve I recently started using resin which I love but have had issues I think with low Temps for curing as I live on a boat...so I'm thinking that UV would be better for me Would you agree
The UV resin I have tried wouldn’t harden, was really sticky. Going to try this brand, just wondering if you have tried it in small silicone jewellery moulds or metal Cabouchon jewellery backs. Many thanks xx
Steve I was watching your video using UV Resin and I went to try to order the bezels you used to do the stained glass technology and I can’t find them ANYWHERE. Can you help me?
I'm confused what you are using. Did you mix the different colors and funnel it into the applicatirs?
I’ve trying to put some Oreo cookies in resin I’ve watched a few UA-cam videos they float up. But the kind of resin they don’t say what to use. Also want to do a peach pit or seed. Got any words of wisdom. I got the kit you used in this video but I think I’m going to need a lot I’ve got 9 cookies to do
Lovely creations. Do you have any link for the rectangular mosaic style bezel? If not I’ll keep looking. That turned out so beautifully.
Just found them on Amazon.
Save time and put a mirror under your light
That does work, but you have to be careful that the UV light isn’t reflecting from the mirror into your eyes and causing damage to them. The light I use is kind to eyes, but others may not have that type of uv light so I don’t show that ,ethos in my videos.
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts good point. I use a mirror and wear sunglasses 😊
Wow I love this thanks for sharing... Please someone like my comment so I can always come back and watch ❤❤❤❤
Which is your recommendation, Teexpert or Jdiction? Or does it even matter.
What are the rings with the grooves called?
Where do you get those brushes?
How much do you sell your "inlay" rings for? (US $)
What is your cost in each piece and what would you sell them for?
will they come lose with shrinkage?
No they don't
I can't find the link for the items you used... please help!
Hi Steve, I am just beginning resin crafts and was needing to know why my 4 hour demold is still bendy weeks after pouring it. Please help :) thanks.
It sounds to me that it wasn’t mixed fully. Make sure to have equal an]mounts of part a and b and mix fully scraping sides and bottom
It sounds to me that it wasn’t mixed fully. Make sure to have equal an]mounts of part a and b and mix fully scraping sides and bottom
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Thank you, I'll try that again and let you know :)
❤❤❤❤❤
So - i have been having trouble with my uv resin. Wondering if I'm doing something wrong? I get it in my mold, everything looks gorgeous and bubble free, then the second I get uv on them, they develop a giant bubble!! Can anyone help?? I'm using the lets resin brand, thought it would be good!!
😊
I love using resin and recently started using UV resin. While your ideas are great, will people honestly buy those cheap types of jewellery? Is it worth the time and effort involved? They look cheap and unappealing to me.
I just worry that I’d make a bunch and nothing would sell because they look so cheap. Bits of tat.
❤😊👌🏻
Wear NITRILE gloves
I totally agree, I never handle or use any resin without full PPE including nitrile gloves. Only when it is fully cured do I handle it without.
