    Hey! So since filming this, within the last two months, I have been diagnosed with rosacea. I wanted to share how I’ve been treating it. This has removed my redness significantly. Whilst these products have been working for me, they may not have the same effect on you but I hope they will!
    1) Azelaic Acid: this is usually given to people with rosacea but prescribed at 20%. Paula’s choice do a 10% Azelaic Acid booster that has haloed remove redness and seal with any spots. Within 2 weeks I’ve seen an obvious difference.
    2) products that help repair the skin barrier. I’ve been using Krave’s GBR and it’s been helping loads. As well as Rovectin’s Barrier repair cream.
    3) avoiding AHA/BHA and using PHA/ LHA instead. These are gentler versions of AHA and BHA and I get no irritation on my skin what so ever

      When you were describing your redness I thought you might have Rosacea! I wasn’t going to comment but then I saw this. I have it too & your skin looks beautiful. I can’t seem to get mine that clear. I don’t flush a ton, but I get little spots from my flare ups and I absolutely hate it. I had cystic acne and Rosacea was just kind of in the background going unnoticed until I went on Accutane and haven’t had a cyst lately. Now all I see are these annoying, little, rash-like spots. I’m addicted to your videos! I’m so glad to have you in my corner to help guide me through this journey ☺️

      Yogi Blair hey!!! Ahhhh you should’ve mentioned it haha 😝 Azelaic Acid has been working wonders for me! I’m currently using Paula’s choice Azelaic Acid. It’s amazing. It’s a little pricey. The Ordinary do a cheaper version that is also amazing, but I hate the texture on the skin. It doesn’t feel nice at all. But it does an amazing job! And whilst I still flush when I’m hot or like...stressed out, that permanent redness is going :)

      @@JamesWelsh Omg I'm so excited you replied! It is so comforting to see how amazing your skin looks in hopes that one day I can get there too. I will definitely check out those products. I'm so scared to put anything on my skin because it always seems so sensitive...I have crazy skin. I have so many silly videos on my channel talking about my skincare journey and all the issues I've had. My Rosacea is bizarre. I've never really been constantly red. Mine looks like pimples (subtype 2) which is SO frustrating after coming off of Accutane. I thought I was going to have this gorgeous, clear skin finally, and here I am. The struggle for clear skin is so real!

    Rosacea is one of the most annoying skin conditions you can have. Literally just touching your face to apply products can increase the redness for hours. Sometimes it feels like looking at your skin the wrong way can affect it. There's no cure for it, and there doesn't seem to be a specific treatment that consistently works for people. It's also considered a progressive condition, and will probably get worse over time, even if you baby your skin. I truly hate it, and would actually rather have acne. I've spent hours upon hours researching rosacea online, and try to avoid the common triggers and take the most obvious precautions (sunscreen is critical, as it is for everyone, even without rosacea). But one website will list a food as a trigger, then the next website will list that food as being helpful. Individual experiences that I've read have been contradictory. Even finding the most basic skincare routine of products you don't react to, is a minefield.
    I can't fully convey how frustrating it is, mainly because relatively little is known about the condition (it's an inflammatory condition, and the research on the rosacea-gut health connection might be promising). As a skincare lover, I can't even enjoy trying new products anymore. When people with normal skin try new products, it's fun and exciting to aniticipate using them, and the potential positive changes they're going to experience with their skin. That excitement for others is anxiety for me, and hoping that a new product won't make my skin burn, itch, or become more flushed. Rosacea is kind of like the permanent compromised skin barrier condition. So, I may never be able to use vitamin c serums, retinoids, or acids on a regular basis, at least without suffering unfavorable consequences.
    The triggers I've identified thus far for my rosacea:
    1) Premenstrual syndrome
    2) Extreme hot and cold temperatures/cold wind
    3) Yogurt/dairy
    4) Too much friction on my face
    5) Not liberally moisturizing

      Absolutely correct it’s the most frustrating thing ever ever and the contradictory information out there kills me I’ve found nothing that helps at all and I’m very careful with ingredients

      Finacea foam or gel works but is expensive so try to get a dermatologist to help you out. Try doing your face routine at night, when you wake up in the morning you’ll wake up looking a lot better. It progresses but it’s manageable so long as you can find the perfect skin care routine. Small doses of doxycycline (talk to Derma) is meant to help a lot as well. Rosacea is mostly an inflammatory condition and the small dosed pills are meant to treat it pretty effectively. Don’t over complicate your routine either. Wash the face, moisturize, and a foam like Finacea you’ll see great results. Don’t give up.

      I understand you so much, I'll se a dermatologist but I really hope he/she will understand that for me skincare is much more than just cleanse and moisturizer.. I don't know because some products works for a while and than is always a mess, plus I have plenty of products left on the drawers because they are like fire on the skin.. I would love to try some korean products, they seem quite soothing but I don't want to waste money again.. Sorry for the long comment, but right now I'm in one of those "angry-skin" moments (I just showered lol)...

      Have you ever heard of the phrase. You are what you eat. Try changing your diet. A lot of us rosacea sufferers not only have problems with our skin, but problems with our inside too. This problem contributes to what our skin looks like. Some people are blessed to be able to eat junk food and shit food without having a reaction but unfortunately we are more sensitive. So instead of using creams (which made it worse), and i stopped going to my dermatologist because he treated it like it experiment, like “take this.. okay, that didn’t work? Take that..” (which for our skin makes it worse, sufferers will know how quick our skin gots aggravated), i joined a gym and let my skin sweat more (also good for mental health, keeps you good during stressful situations), started drinking boiled kettle water with a lemon squeezed first thing in the morning, at least half an hour before eating anything (helps flush out ur insides) and started drinking apple cider vinegar in my water with meals (as it breaks down harmful bacteria in food, that some sufferers are unable to do, and promotes higher stomach acid for people who have low stomach acid) I believe these things changed my skin dramatically. I still get flare up if i drink alcohol but that about it). When i would shower before, (warm shower) i would have dry and red skin when getting out, however, now skin is smooth and refreshed. Do not use any more shit on your face. You will just fuck it up more and more and whatever you do don’t use MIRVASO. If I didn’t have rosacea before using that, I certainly did after. Anyway, find the problem in your body. And keep your room clean and shit. Im not saying mites don’t exist that feed off of that. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    It’s even more difficult for those who deal with social anxiety. For me personally I have a fear of getting to red in the face. So when I go to social settings I always check my face in the bathroom mirror and usually put some cold water on a paper towel to cool my face down. I’ve went as far as getting foundation creams to hide it. I’ll eventually get through this and to the point where I just embrace anything that comes my way. I’m learning more each day how to cope and I appreciate my life regardless of the struggles. Best wishes to you all.

      If you love your hot showers too much to sacrifice them, drinking your daily intake of water actually helps a lot. Also spraying a cold hydrating-calming toner feels good on the skin after a hot shower if it feels a bit hot and tight(even one as simple as rosewater or a water mist). Very basic advice I know but it does make things better for me.

    Night-
    The Body Shop Camomile Micellar Water
    The Body Shop Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser
    I will typically use a mask next. My favorite masks are BB Seaweed(Lush), Aloe Vera Cream Rescue Mask(Body Shop, I actually use this one overnight in replacement of my night cream), Oatifix(Lush), and Almond Milk and Oats Face Mask(Body Shop
    Lush’s Breath of Fresh Air toner
    Body Shop’s Vitamin E overnight serum
    Body Shop’s aloe night cream mixed with a few drops of Marula oil
    Morning:
    Aloe calming cream cleanser by The Body Shop
    Breath of Fresh Air toner by Lush
    Aloe calming day moisturizer by the Body Shop
    Beet Shield sunscreen by Krave Beauty
    I absolutely recommend all of these products! Any time I break out, I use the BB Seaweed face mask and it helps so much!!

    Rosacea plagued my life for nigh on twelve years and I'd given up all hope. Then I read some great online feedback regarding a cream called proskin rosacea. Now I was well aware about being let down before and know that what works for one may not work for someone else but this cream was a revelation for me and my red wine coloured bumpy spotty skin has literally fallen off as healthy skin has replaced it. I don't look like the same person. I just had to put this out there.

If I exercise in the morning, I cleanse for 15 seconds or so but I use a gentle cleanser either way. Sunscreen is always suggested but sometimes you can skip it if it irritates your skin. I use Korean sunscreens because American sunscreen is just garbage. I can use Korean sunscreen everyday

I also use soothing and calming products that have Centella asiatica, Aloevera, Madicassiocide, green tea and niancinimide. I always use the Benton Aloe Vera mask when I’ve had a shower to reduce redness and restore moisture to the skin. And I find my rosacea flairs up more that time of the month for us ladies.

    Elemis superfood cica calm hydration juice is a wonder for my rosacea. Also Kate Somerville Cermides and Omegas serum and her Goat Milk moisturizer. I don't use foaming cleansers. I use Purlisse Blue Lotus Milk cleanser and it is absolutely amazing my holy grail. Removes makeup and cleans skin perfectly with no drying. In winter and windy days I use the Mudmasky leave on winter mask as a last step for daytime.. And azelaic acid for sure. I also only use PHAs. If I do need to occasionally use a BHA I only spot treat or use in my T zone where I don't have rosacea. I'm trying to save up for IPL because I have broken capillaries as well. I hope this helps someone. (Edited to add for my toner I use Pure Heals Propolis toner and the Pure Heals Propolis sleep mask. And the BEST is the APTO turmeric mask. Turmeric works amazing for redness and rosacea. I use it at night because it will make my skin red at first but in the morning its like cleared everything up. Best of luck everyone. Acne and rosacea are horrible but we are ALL still gorgeous and beautiful. Fuck em if they don't think your rosy face is adorable because it is. Don't ever forget that.)

When I don't wear foundation I always get comments&questions if I feel okay, if I'm not sick, if I just had to run really fast or if I am blushing etcetc it's so annoying. Literally every normal thing triggers my rosacea. Warmth, cold, coffee, tea, wind, sunshine, friction and a lot of skincare products. The only product that helps me with the extreme red and hot cheek moments is a prescription cream from my doctor. Other than that not much helps. Just the prescription cream and moisturize a lot.. but the redness will stay forever. It's a chronic skin condition unfortunately

    If you have rosacea commence mineral sunscreen use immediately, use gentle, fragrance free skincare, get to a really good cosmetic dermatologist as soon as you can afford it, invest in IPL or laser treatment and get prescribed Azelaic Acid - that combination is what this condition actually requires. It is a potent inflammatory condition of the skin that requires a multifaceted approach. Keep up the good work, James!

    • @elian3084
      @elian3084 5 років тому +1

      Lasers and Azelaic Acid are only a temporary solution. You need to get laser every year in order to keep the redness and broken capillaries at bay. That shit's expensive AF and azelaic acid, as soon as you stop the treatment the redness comes back. If you want a permanent cure for rosacea, start correcting your dietary habits. Any skin issue signals an underlying problem somewhere much deeper.

      @@elian3084 Where is the evidence to back up that claim about diet and rosacea? I would love to see it. Of course you need to continue treatment through lasers and azelaic acid - rosacea is a chronic condition.

      @@lol365 Yeah, it's obviously an easier solution for people with no willpower. Why cut those bad foods that make you so happy when you can just eat whatever you like and laser away... • @JamesWelsh
      @JamesWelsh  5 років тому +1

      Hey! There is a fully a fair amount of evidence that ties certain foods to a flare up of rosacea. Whilst it may not ‘cure’ it as such, you can keep it in control. In fact the ‘rosacea’ diet became an odd celebrity diet trend to see improvements in your skin. There’s some really interesting videos on UA-cam about it, personal stories etc etc. The same with skincare, there’s enough evidence to suggest both can keep rosacea at bay, but not ‘cure’ as such

    My Rosacea trigger is spicy food and overexposure to the sun or just too much heat in general.
    Topical treatments from your GP/doctor for reducing the effects of Rosacea are the pits and severely dry your skin out and they also reek.
    The problem I have is I like the occasional spicy food, so I have to be prepared for my Rosacea to go mental within a 24 hour period and can last for a good few days, as and when I eat anything spicy.
    I try to avoid spicy food if at all possible and find flavour alternative foods that don't make it feel like I'm missing out. My skin is very happy for this.
    Rosacea is an incurable skin condition which is most commonly hereditary.
    My Rosacea is limited, at present to a small area of the left cheek (near to the nose) and pretty much the whole of the right cheek; weird I know. That said, it could be far worse. It isn't...yet! I have noticed, on the right side, that the Rosacea is moving upward toward the side of the right eye. Marvellous!

After 4 months I had switched to Niacinamide 10% with Azelaic acid and keeping the ivermectin cream. I never wore sunscreen and always went swimming all day every day, getting sunburnt on my face all the time. I REGRET IT SO MUCH. I still havent found a good suncreen that doesnt flare up my skin amd give me ance/blisters. I use a product called Prosacea, its homeopathic and has calmed my face a whole ton. What do u say?

    • @JamesWelsh
      @JamesWelsh  5 років тому +15

      Hey! I don't think so no. There's this idea that synthetic ingredients are bad for the skin and that natural skincare is better and its just not true.
      As far as 'less is more'....it can be! It depends on your own skin :) Some people don't need to /want to do do more than one step in there routine and thats fine as long as their skin is okay with that! But i always use exercise as an example.....if you go running for 15 mins 3 times a week...you'll be healthy. But if you go to the gym 5 days a week, for an hour each time, do cardia and weights, your results are going to be a lot more obvious and you'll most likely have the body of your dreams!
      So like skincare....you get out, what you put in, in the majority of cases :)
      Also, our skin actually needs a lot of ingredients that are currently in skincare. For example, AHA's help with moisture retention whilst Hyaluronic Acid (our skin creates this naturally) can be used as a serum to help people with dry, damaged or dehydrated skin. So depends on each person and what their own specific skin is craving :)
