I totally disagree with your views on this. This collaboration will help the brand in the long run. People who grew up loving Mario and who are now more affluent, will appreciate this collaboration for the sole reason of Tag Heuer combining nostalgia and classiness
I am one of the lucky few that got one. I'll be putting up on my FB when it shows up later on today. Say what you will but as a fan of both brands I plan on loving this watch.
Respect your opinion Chris but just remember that Heuer hasn't been the same brand since it was acquired by LVMH so I'm okay with this limited Collab for all the diehard Mario enthusiasts.
I'd say TAG wasn't wrong, lol. It's already sold out. A fast handful of millions in revenue for them. And, sure, any marketing grab may appear to cheapen a brand to a few folks (Rolex Ambassadors is such a tacky element of their brand), versus pure quality speaking for itself, but it's how stuff gets sold, and I can respect that. Whether Casio and NASA, or Invicta and Mickey Mouse, it moves merchandise and increases customer interest. Looks like the collab was very well done here, so it seems it was a smart idea, and 2000 people are now quite happy (hopefully!). If they'd done a half-a$$ effort, I'd have also been disappointed, but looks like they honored the Mario history and fans evidently were fine paying the price.
I don't think you have a full understanding of what this watch is and that ultimately makes it a bad review. You mention the price and say it's a $400 increase over the regular Tag version. Even if that were true, that isn't unreasonable- it's a bargain: a 20% upcharge for an extremely limited edition collector piece is not a bad deal. And remember, this is Tag, so people looking at these were already willing to shell out almost 2 grand for a smart watch, the other 400 would be pocket change. But it actually isn't true- there is a range of prices based upon materials and this watch is the same price as the other premium material versions, there is no upcharge at all. Ultimately I think your issue is that in your opinion this should be a collab with Casio or a cheaper brand and not so exclusive. Then the price would be more attainable. But that's not what this is. People have been buying these for quadruple the MSRP because they sold out in minutes. They could have been $10k and they would've sold out. This is a watch for geeky watch enthusiasts that have the cash to drop, people who already own expensive watches. You'll appreciate it more if you look at it for what it is, not what it isn't.
As someone who grew up with the Colecovision and later the NES. This watch brings back a lot of fond memories of Donkey and Mario Bros. I would definitely buy it if I had the dough. Definitely overpriced but I love Nintendo and the memories I made on those machines. Great video! Cheers!
Its' cool... it would be a lot cooler if it was $1000 as a special edition so you're not going to feel like I did when I bought the first gen Apple Watch in Steel and now it is absolutely useless...

I also like Tag Heuer. I think this type of watch is initially what started the animosity against the brand.
Agree. Think this is where the identity problem of Tag comes from.
I think you hit the nail on the head, this type of product is best left to smart watch companies. ❤
I think it’s just cool for people to dislike tag for the sake of doing it.
Just waiting for the Zelda watch!

It's fine. I wonder what the licensing fees they have to pay Nintendo costs for this gonna bet that's not cheap.
💯 Agree bro
Pretty common for a Tag Heuer to be over priced
It's sold out! I can't believe it. I really would prefer a Timex PAC Man digital watch but each to their own.
Except those other companies would need licensing approval. I think you are 100% wrong.
Ridiculous! Just buy a Switch, play the game and buy a normal automatic.
Love Mario, hate the watch.
How can i get that watch or it is a update

SMH.
🤦♂️
I got nuth'n 😒
Is this wear OS software
Already sold out.
This is an abomination, even for TAG. Not limited enough.
👎🏽 Bad idea
