Am a Bangalorean, I have roamed many states across India. Bangalore roads are worst. Seriously worst. Entire city is filled with path holes, Patches what not. I was so angry especially when my wife was pregnant and our entire journey to office and to home was horrible. I hope soon they will resolve this big issue #BBMP

But sadly this expose by media will not bring long lasting changes. We need laws like right to recall municipal commissioner and jury system in courts so that contractor can be held responsible and given required punishments. Due to lack of thhese laws they are not afraid of anyone.

A Chennaite here. I frequently travel across all South Indian states and Bengaluru City has the worst roads. The highways in KA are in very good condition (NICE Rd, Bengaluru to Hassan, Bengaluru to Hampi) but the city has really bad roads and I have busted 2 tires in spite of being careful. It is such a shame that a beautiful city like Bengaluru has pathetic roads. Would be great if BBMP takes some serious initiative to rectify the same.
I still remember back when I was a kid in 90s, Bengaluru had good roads and less traffic and it was my favorite holiday destination as many of our relatives lived there. Now the traffic and road condition has worsened exponentially.

@The Shape Their bread is there. What's there in that? Before Bengaluru was even developed, we had many Telugus, Kannidigas and Malayalis in Madras. So what's your point? It is India and people are free to choose where they stay and work. There is absolutely no reason to stroke regional flares. Besides that, Karnataka charges the highest road tax of all states in India. Why isn't that money being used to fix roads? That's a question the residents of Bengaluru should raise and it's a valid one. Make no mistake, Karnataka has really good roads, barring a few stretches in the Ghats during monsoons. That apart, Bengaluru is one of the largest cities in India and the roads are really bad. I suppose you have recently moved to Bengaluru from another city/town. I know of many Bengalurians who are 4th generation residents of the city. They too echo the same concern. Did it ever occur to you that people like you also contribute to the current state of Bengaluru's roads ?
And when we complain about these, the localites say go back.
Corruption is the main reason for this state of Bangalore roads. The Government in Karnataka is the most corrupt. Newly constructed roads vanish within 3 months.

It's raining in Bangalore and I just came home from Phoenix mall. My scooty slipped on road near the mall due to stones, pebbles and potholes filled with water. Even street lights are not working. I never imagined this would be my worst decision to relocate to Bangalore for job. Pune is best..

The Chief Designer of the Bangalore BBMP off roading tracks is being flown on an all expenses paid trip to the black bear pass in Colorado and then by heli to Moab valley Arizona, USA, so that he can view these from above in a bid to completely re-imagine and re-design those old off road trails.
There is also a rumour that he has been offered a lucrative consulting assignment with Land Rover to revive the Camel Trophy from India to Burma to Thailand to Malaysia and Indonesia and back.
But I hear that he is also evaluating another similar consulting offer with the Paris Dakar people.
So obviously his designs are a success and he is a much sought after design professional in the Off Road world.

When you get cought by police, you just need to give the money whatever they ask. You should not ask for challan or any questions like name, position etc else they will take your vehicle or they will tell you collect challan from the police station, after visiting the police station still you will not get the challan. They said, how dare you to ask questions to police, he was just a constable. This is Karnataka police, you should not ask anything in future. My fault was I'm well educated, so they didn't liked me. Now whenever I see Karnataka police I get scared and freak out. This makes me to believe how the system in Bengaluru is corrupted. I thought I will settle down in Bengaluru but not anymore. My god's own country is 100 times better.
Thank you for putting this together. This really needs to be shared around as much as possible. The streets around my house have been lying dug up and not properly redone for the past 3.5 years (i.e. just before the last state election). Looking at the state of our roads is infuriating to say the least. But, it feels like we're in a hopeless death spiral where nothing will ever go our way. The only thing that's been consistent is the brazenness with which officials (both senior & junior) ask for bribes.
Thank you for this. Another huge problem that has always happened when roads are dug up is tree damage. On Gangadharchetty road, CBD, Bangalore, beautiful Rain trees have been damaged because of the ongoing work, which btw will put all these shots you have taken to shame, there's no road to speak of, just puddles of water full of cables. Trees everywhere are falling because of weakened root systems. This is one of the tragedies of this so called Garden City. They are replaced by potted plants that substitute for age old trees. Even they, eventually die.

Bad roads are good business for many! Rightly said.
A good option is the one being implemented in Kerala by new PWD minister Riyaz, wherein the companies that build the roads will also be responsible for it's maintenance for a fixed number of years. Also, road maintenance is given on contracts for fixed years with the contracter name/ conatct prominently displayed on the streets with a centrally administered call-in/complaint facility for public. This makes sure that contractors does the best job, else they know that they will have to spend more for maintenance later.
Ah another suggestion.... Look reallt deep and you will.know

Percentage of bribe increased in recent time, hence quality is low. Intentionally constructing and digging the roads regularly is main reason for this.
Right to recall over Municipal commissioner and right to recall over MLA/MP is the solution

I m everyday sick travelling thru bangalore roads & everyday i utter most filthiest words in front of my wife & kids, as to y this respective concerned govt officials or department doesnt take care of our "basic infrastructure." These guys doesnt hv minimal common sense tat this causes traffic & due to traffic they're building flyover or subways & making more money coz i know how this tender & contracts works (from top officials to peon). Let them make money but give us traffic/pothole/bumpy free roads....Ahhh & not to forget to say they already luk 10 to 15 yrs old flyovers/subways. Just bcoz this is social media & i m controlling my words here & i m sure many citizens hv d same feel... coz we r scared police will knock on ur door 😂. This action will swiftly done too , isnt it. ? Just hoping some dedicated official is there to wake up everyday & complete/maintain road jobs , especially in blore.

The Hennur Road alias "New airport road".. is the most pathetic and worst road. Potholes everywhere and it's extremely difficult during the rainy season. It's been this way for a decade now.

The worst roads in the entire country is in bangalore. 10 years ago I used to fight with my friends in defense of bangalore. 10 years later I want to get out of this city. Its in ruins. All roads are dug up. Pathetic.

There should be coverage in Outer Ring Road. How roads are engineered to make problem a crisis.
In Bangalore everywhere you have patches and when rain comes nothing withstands it’s very difficult for bike riders to drive around Bangalore
The only road where you can drive your bike without a pothole without patches is MG Road in Bangalore
Also please visit to Magadi road towards Magadi and adjoining localities like, Herohalli, Tunganagar , nagarbhavi etc, you will amazed to see the sheer maintenance of the roads. Please bring camera crews and take photos publish.

The road tax paid for vehicles in Bangalore is highest in India.
Having collected so much of tax amount It's the responsibility of BBMP to provide good roads.
But that's not the case. Govt authorities are only bothered about collecting taxes They are least bothered about people plight. Many people have even lost their lives due to bad roads.
Nothing is going to change.
Matters will be still worst.

Yes mam, firstly thanks for your efforts in showing the facts as it is..The roads in Bangalore are in a pathetic condition. Almost at every step there is a pothole..Even the main roads are in bad condition. People travelling by bike or auto have no guarantee in reaching home safely.. Even though we are paying taxes promptly, why is it that our lives put to danger?

In week 2 times my car bumper came out 2 times puncher and no one wants to drive or ride on broken roads this leads to accidents and too much road tax for vehicles. The worst roads every corner of east bangalore. All government people use good SUV ac cars .driver I'll drive the car easy come easy go wat lovely understand between contractors & government.

Hello ma'am, the condition of roads where i live i.e, mallathalli is more worse than the roads you have shown they laid the roads just 6 months ago but now there are many potholes and road got sink down and when it rains, the sewage water comes out through road breaking the road into fragments.
Airport wall road, murgeshpalya.. they started fixing something 2 years ago and the roads were dug out.. but it is still not fixed.. add the rains.. very dangerous..vehicles are prone to skidding..
There aren't any roads in and around Marathahalli. Green Glen layout, HSR, Sarjapura etc all have zero roads. Just the mud is there and people drive to death.
8th mile, andhrahalli road is a deathtrap.

Maybe 10 years ago the roads were good, ever since metro work started, roads have taken back seat.

The system itself is corrupt in Bangalore. They don't carry out proper work for roads and they carry out shoddy maintenance each time when there are potholes, seriously commuting in the city has become a big task now a days. Govt of Karnataka open your eyes and pls do something for the citizens living in this city by giving them pothole free commuting road!!
Hard to change people's minds when their paycheck depends on it.
Instead of keeping celebrities names for road have to keep Contractor or builders name to road then may be some changes we can see..
Roads in Chikkabidarakallu and Doddabidarakallu are also pathetic. All vehicles go in snail pace. In rainy season these roads are slippery with bumpy rides. Difficult to ride or walk during rainy season as there are chances of slipping and getting injured
