I can kind of understand it from a humane point of view (obviously Luke blew up the Death Star which killed some potentially good people as well as bad people) but I would argue that the thing he blew up was destroying entire planets… maybe entire species and it had no sign of stopping either. So essentially either the Death Star blows up, or every single planet
The fact that his point was to say that Luke was wrong for killing the people on the Death Star and basically comparing that to the evil of Vader is absurd.

He does deserve some hate, he pretends to be a super fan but then blunders on one of the biggest most well known plot points in the series. He wanted fans "to have faith that the story is in good hands" in a sense by pretending to be something he's not. You're not wrong in the fact that has nothing to do with his character or his acting but it speaks to a larger problem. I doubt that was his idea, I'm willing to bet the studio told him to act like a fan. There's a reason the show is being reviewed poorly and it's got very little to do with this controversy, this is just another pile to the stack of already burning corpses of fans. People need to learn that star wars is dead, it's never going to be what we want it to be ever again, because Disney the soulless demon of media owns it and they clearly don't give a shit about the story. Star Wars is a dying limping dog, we should just shoot it and not let it or us suffer anymore. The almighty dollar is the only thing these people understand stop giving your money and time to these shit quality productions with popular franchise names attached to them.
To touch on the last point, I just don’t understand why Disney did any of this. They’ve made some good shows but the bad heavily outweighs the good overall and I think every Star Wars fan can agree with that. They’ve just absolutely blundered this acolyte project and what you said is exactly right, they definitely told this actor to act as a super fan. He clearly wasn’t ready for the questions he was going to be receiving so they must’ve forgot to tell him the LITERAL BASICS of star wars. Then you have the acolyte episodes; which the first one was alright, 2nd was mid, and 3rd was just horrible for the franchise overall. It’s ridiculous and all they want to do now is get the original Star Wars fans pushed so far away from Star Wars so that they can cater to a new audience. It’s disgusting
