Great review and thank you for reviewing such a basic cheap car. Incredible value considering the long warranty, complementary maintenance, and high fuel economy! Only sad news is that this is the last year of the Mirage. There will be no 2025 Mirage sold in the USA. Very sad.
You are right about getting used to its slow off the line acceleration; but its not really the end of the world when getting out into traffic, yes, its slower only off the line, but with crowded traffic conditions just about all the time, you really wont notice it, especially once you are on the freeway, at any speed over 45 mph, the acceleration, while already doing say 65 mph you'll hit 80mph just 3 seconds later, so although the initial roll is placid, its not all that bad! Also the engine noise at cruise is quiet, only when you floor it will you hear it! All in all, its got a tolerable ride, excellent visibility, super reliable and very maneuverable, Ive had my new 2023 ES model for 4 months now and have gotten 53 mpg with the CVT. There is simply no other car out there that does its basic transportation duties as well as this one does!
I've seen Mirage's with over 400k miles on original CVTs and engines. I averages 55 mpg in the Mirage I had rented. My Corolla's engine died just after 100k miles while we have 2 KIA's with over 300k miles. My 2021 Tundra needs $4k to fix a cam tower leak. Toyota reliability is mostly myth. The real difference is the customer bases behind them. After talking to mechanics, Toyota owners are more just likely to get their vehicles serviced which leads to longer lifespans.
Just like most of us, I’m cutting on costs and spendings with this economy going down the drain worldwide. So I just trade my ‘21 Wrangler + a big fat check for this. It’s boring as f***, but it does what it has to do. Two weeks later, still didn’t have to put gas in that thing. Pretty good.
If you don't maintain it, it can crap out early. But if you change the CVT fluid every 30K, then it should last a long time. These little engines put very little strain on the transmission.
2021 Mirage 58,900. Drive 120mile 5 says a week. One battery, new tires at 50k. Purchased used. One vehicle better to my was my Honda Fit. Could use a launch gear. Valve pin when AC is on at taken. I use DD 15 mph the go to D. Adding better 93 octane did not help.
My Tacoma double cab 4 cylinder would lose a race to a mirage...13 seconds to 60 with the ac on lol. I always laugh at people that say cars are too slow. I've driven across the US in a tractor trailer limited to 60mph with 45k lbs in the trailer, people have no idea what slow really is...
I am trying to get one of these. Also, I need to note. The tire noise can be improved a ton with better tires. Like the Bridgestone tires. I also need to note, the EPA's MPG is about right with a medium heavy foot. But if you drive conservatively, you can manage about 50 MPG on average.
I owned one of these for 4 years and could only get 50mpg if I hypermiled it. I don't have a lead foot. With a light foot in city/suburban driving it got 40-46mpg, which was fantastic. Sound is very bad what has changed. You can do better!
Nothing has changed in 9yrs. I'm using a Rode shotgun mic. What would you recommend?
2025 good riddance
I don’t like the Mitsubishi mirage
why not?
@@braetonwilson4296 because it’s a super slow car
@@braetonwilson4296Fair question. i BET he has a very high expectation which negate the point of even looking at this video.
I do!!! I'm not looking to do 0-60 in 4 seconds, my max speed on the highway is 65mph...I care about my gas mileage so this car is perfect for me.
Then don't buy one.
under 17k and probably the worst new car you can get LOL
Worst car for those who cares about performance and this is car ain’t it
Actually -No you are wrong
Hyundai and Kias have shitty piston rings that blow their engines
GM, Dodge and Ford have major quality control problems
This is actually better quality
@@jayslomine4280 he was just trolling.
That asshole was/is trolling!!! ♐
Worse as far as what?? The point of buying this car is for lowest price new car and reliability to last the longest without maintenance and repair cost. Not everyone is looking to pay for luxury or sportiness. For that you can't beat this deal, even a decent used car will cost this much, but without the reliability, warranties and with a whole lot of mileage.
A true shit box!!!
