    Anna is, thank God, still alive. Kate sadly passed away in 2010. Anna is at the piano in this clip, Kate plays the accordion. The sisters and their sister Jane McGarrigle have made the world a better place with their superb music/poetry. They may not be well known among the masses, but their art will last. They belong to the abolute top of North American music. God bless them.
    They made me happy for 60 odd years..

      @UCKkWvrqZbDI_kwR5ovxLJzA Sorry, the wording was badly chosen. I meant song. This one is still played. Dion is not. Point in case is, however, that it was a one-hit wonder thing. A francophone friend of mine had the LP but this one song stood out. I remember there was one other song, not bad, but the remainder of the album was run of the mill. Like Chuck E's in Love and Dreadlock Holiday. Just one song on the album that's any good. Quite different from Santana, for example. But then again, I am not a folk music fan at all. Just this one song.

      It's well worn story about life in general - the words of the repeated refrain couplet;
      Y a longtemps qu'on fait d'la politique (We've been in politics a long time)
      Vingt ans de guerre contre les moustiques (Twenty years of war against mosquitoes)
      are an oblique reference to the seeming futility of raging against those in positions of power?
      Many of the other lines mention everyday activities, such as taking the dog for a walk on Sunday

It is quite very rare that a french song became an international hit even it was not a big worldwide hit. I remember in that song has been modified in the 1984 Bye Bye (Dominique Michel & Pauline Martin) modified that song for funny side. But as a young child I thought that was a 1984 hit song, but in reality it was a 1976 hit song. Just love it :)

      If you're talking about her '87 memoir "And a Voice to Sing WIth," wouldn't that predate their collaboration, which took place in '95? Anyway, my edition of the memoir makes no mention of Kate nor Anna.
