I am trying to learn this now too. My husband suffered a cardiac arrest and strokes mid October. He understands language - he responds, follows what commands he can (his body control is still coming back slowly) but he can't speak. It has been a battle from the time they revived him to keep 3/4 of the medical people from writing him off, or actively promoting "helping him along" saying he'll never recover. Thankful for one neurosurgeon who looked at his MRI, had another done that showed significant improvement, and told the other docs to back off, he has patients with worse injuries participating in life happily. But I need to learn how to help him form words again.
@EnyalienMini sometimes strokes can cause aphasia, which is the loss of language. If you haven't already, I suggest getting a speech evaluation to determine if there is a diagnosis of aphasia, and if so, what kind.
My fiance had a TBI due to a horrible fall don the stairs. He ended up with Anoxic Injury and it has been 258 days since. I work with him through communication boards, speaking to him, getting him motivated etc. I need help with a speech therapist because I dont feel he gets enough therapy at his facility I am trying my best and would love to see him here at this point like the client in the video. Please help
HOOBANG PRODUCTIONS Hey we are still here he has gone through SO MUCH!!!! he just got out the hospital and I bought him home. Mentally he is aware but the dysphasia is the biggest hurdle with getting them to speak and stuff. You can follow us on instagram @hopefortony25
I didn't lose my memory. I started started stuttering. And I just went mute on Monday. The words try to come out. In my head I can say the words. But oh boy can't say it verbally. I'm going though this now. I was in am accident and everything is on lockdown now. The scans was clear. But I do feel pains in my head.
@@geeorginale our domestic boarders just open. So I travel to another island to see a Neurologist and a speech therapist. The other island just have general practitioners. My speech is still the same. Hopefully I get the help that I need here. Or I'll have to go to Cleveland Clinic.
@@geeorginale oh... and I went to another doctor and he found on the MRI that I had swelling in the cerebrum and the cerebellum which affects the speech.
@@leanoradames7128 okay, thanks for your reply, I know is hard, but you will get better, trust in God, He has an answer even beyond what doctors can say or find. I’ve been going through a similar situation, it does gets better, your brain can heal, praying for you Leanora.
What is the reason why a person with brain injury is able to understand the speech of others but is not able to speak?
