this is great I've been watching the same free ones forever, its fun to have new ones.... sad news about Joyce but she lived long and had a great life we are all right behind her in a way life is so short I wish people were nicer so much crime and violence its why I Ilike to escape in these shows.
Jackie appreciated Tommy & Jimmy and their orchestra- and had them back for the "New Year's Eve" episode on December 26, 1953......and also featured them as his 1954 summer replacement {"STAGE SHOW"}, with more guest appearances during the 1954-'55 season....and finally revived "STAGE SHOW" to fill the hour featuring the filmed "HONEYMOONERS" episodes in the 1955-'56 season.
Oh what a treat to have the Tommy Dorsey Band playing Brings back memories if our arents era Those days were precious.Todays so called entertainment is nothing like this in quality Sadly
Although this episode was just a tad before my time, the music featured in it was REAL music! It brought back many good memories I experienced during the mid to late 1950s.
the Dorsey Brothers and the band with Ed and Ralph dancing is an all time classic!~ that was 70 years ago and a hundred times better than anything on TV today. from Wikipedia -Jimmy Dorsey broke up his big band in 1953. Tommy invited him to join as a feature attraction. In 1953, the Dorseys focused their attention on television. On December 26, 1953, the brothers appeared with their orchestra on Jackie Gleason's CBS television show, which was preserved on kinescope.
This is really cool, a time stamp of the end of the swing orchestra era of the 30s and 40s style. Rock and roll about to take over at about the same time here.
The Dorsey Brothers had to know, that this style of music, was fastly becoming passé, at this point. Thank goodness😁!!! Make way for that 'new chord' (Rock-N-Roll) music🎵 🎶 Jimmy, was referencing to!! Great to see The Honeymooners, in a different setting, than their usual.
I don't recall any of the regular episodes having special guest stars. This was pretty cool though the music at the end seemed to go on too long. Alice seemed a little more demure than in the regular episodes
Alice looks like a million bucks❤❤

The band sounded fantastic for 1953. Great mix for TV.
