    She grew up in Cincinnati, was a marvelous actress, dedicated many years to a cavalcade of amazing animals. She also had a soft alto voice, with sensationalist phrasing of words and music.

      she had just found out on her last birthday that she was 2 years older than she thought she was when someone presented her with a copy of her original birth certificate. My mother nearly the same age would change her date of birth when calling to have a birth certificate made since often no record was made depending on the place of your birth. Finally they had the means to keep better records and she had to stop at 3. My mom dyed her red hair blonde and was often mistaken for Ms. Doris Day. She loved it. People asked my dad to sign autographs thinking he was Tont Curtis. If they hadn't had so many children, they might ve had a bit of fun being mistaken for those two.

      How could you be absolutely devastated and broken hearted. The lady was 97-years old for
      g-d sake. Did you expect her to live forever? Would you still be devastated if she was 107 or 117 years old when she died. People get old and they die. Get over it. Now, if she died when she was say 37 to 67, yea then I could understand you being DEVASTATED. Kinda sounds like you expected Doris Day to live forever. Back when George Burns died at 100, I don't recall anyone stating that they were DEVASTATED.

    • @susanrajabi6539

    • @moviemagg
      @moviemagg 5 років тому

      @Aritosthenes I agree, but the word devastated is a very strong word usually reserved for extreme situations or a very untimely passing such as John Lennon, John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Patsy Cline, Elvis, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin or George Harrison just to name a few. But not when the person is 97-years old. A person passing at that advanced age is to be expected.

What a remarkable talent she was, a good actress, a great singer, and a good friend to so many. As others have noted here, Doris had an inner light that glowed and radiated out from her. You can't manufacture or fake that and that's what people responded to on a soul level. I remember an interview with Tony Randall who co-starred with her in some of her movies where he said, "Doris just didn't know how good she was." I think that says it all. She was full of positive energy but not full of herself. Her friend, Betty White, said that for someone of her stature in the industry for all those years, it's amazing that she is still vulnerable. That says a lot. She never became hardened or jaded. She is so easy to love because she exudes such love.

    I'm an ol' Texas boy who remembers "What's My Line?" & Doris Day from the mid 1950s & onward. Doris was a great singer, a great actress, & she had one of the sexiest speaking voices I've ever heard. She was hotter than Laredo in July.

      Which person stole my comment?
      You have until 9:00 pm tonight (Pacífic Standard Time) to reach out to me or as of tomorrow I will be forced to post comments in a foreign language in which I have that right because it is in the 1st Admendment to the Mexican Constitution.

    Saturday her name came up and I said she is still living, she must be in her upper 90s(97). Then Monday I got the news. I was saddened by it because I had seen her in movies as a child. and watched her when she did get her television program. I always liked Doris Day, as a child, as a teen, and as an adult. RIP Doris.
