@@doubleddbeat3418 I also like the prog era very much. however, Peter's stage performance gradually dominated the music, apparently...I heard this from band members several times. There is no need for comparison I think as the band reached immense fame with Phil, and Phil has been hugely successful in his solo career..I like both eras, though
I remember watching these concerts every year on HBO in the 80's...and the camera would show Princess Diana clapping and dancing to the beat of the music, it was so great, they should continue doing these benefits live again. God save the King & Queen.
Phil collins is a true legend and truly unforgettable with a talent that's timeless which means he'll live on forever dead or alive 💯 top 10 gifted voices of all time like seriously he's so smooth he doesn't even have to try hard to make a hit record or to put on a great show this talented guy will always receive my blessing until my casket drop 🤘🏿🙏🏿
i have this dvd for many years!!!! i had the vhs too: Phil Collins is amazing t he's again with another drummer the complicated name : Big country drummer
Just love Phil so much, SO MUCH TALENT!! contained in one human being, this was Phil in his ABSOLUTE PRIME!! it's really sad his health has deteriorated so much in recent years, I really hope he recovers one day soon and has some better times 🙏💜🙏
Love that shows of 90s: back vocals plus guys on instruments are supporting, brass line, great interaction with the crowd. Very professional and easy going on the other hand.
Thanks so much for sharing this!! I did very detailed research on this & came up with the following for every musician onstage here (yes, I had too much time on my hands!!): Phil Collins - tambourine, vox Midge Ure All Star Band (Prince's Trust All Star Band)- Brian May - lead guitar Howard Jones - keys Midge Ure - rhythm guitar, md Mick Karn - bass Mark "the Octopus" Brzezicki - drums Gillian O'Donovan - b.vox Suzie O'List - b.vox Gary Barnacle - tenor saxophone Barry Gardner - flugelhorn John Thirkell - trumpet Luke Tunney - trumpet Pete Thoms - trombone
Yup. Although during the verses I like Jamerson's line better than this one, which I think Leland Sklar may have developed. It's only a couple of notes different and probably nobody but a bass player would even notice. But sometimes subtle changes have a sizeable impact.
WAIT... Phil messed up the verses!! Around 1:07... i think he got confused. He then flips it for the 2nd time around. Did anyone notice that? He did good.

*Phil Collins has such an amazing distinct voice that it can NEVER be mistaken for someone else! There's only ONE Phil Collins!!*
💯
Yeah and only one Peter Gabriel.
Thats why Genesis was never as innovating without him

Thanks for that info. Just found him. Looks like you were pretty close with the name. *Mark Brzezicki
I find it funny that he gave everybody sunglasses that match. Brian May and Phil Collins are the best looking.
OMG! He's sooo good! 🤯
Je ne cesse de l'écouter, cette chanson est entrainante, elle motive et donne la joie de vivre, merci a toi Phil.
One of the best talents in music. I am so glad I was able to see him live in NYC. What an amazing artist.

Surprised Brian never considered them when he first put together his band 30 years ago.
Mick Karn, respect!
Yep! Different line that the Jamerson one, which I prefer, but it's only a subtle difference.
I want to hang out with the back ground singers😎

Why did he change lyrics here?
It sounds like he got some of them mixed up.. It was a one-off show, not in the middle of a tour.
His version does indeed change several lines from the original Supremes version. The bass line is just a little different, too.
