I grew up in N.E. Ohio close to an Amish community. My brothers and I would travel there and pick up broken Maytag washing machine engines. We would repair them and use them on go carts we made. Great little smooth running engines.
Grampa left me this exact model, haven't heard it running yet. 12 years of collecting dust. Think I know what the next project is... Thanks for the inspiration. Think I'll make a can crusher attachment !
That's neater than hell. If they washed in the basement did they run a pipe off the exhaust to the outside? My grandpa used to say " I ain't had this much fun since mom got her tit caught in the wringer " lol
Just awesome. That had to be used outdoors.Could you imagine how that would go over in a house where a group was gathered to watch the super bowl? LOL Never in my life have I seen such.Had no clue.I guess some of us don't remember things like those retirees.LOL
yep that is kool, guess those were for the rich folk back-n-the-day lol everybody else had the old wringer, it's always a pleasure to see someone keep things such as that, that's been kept in the family for years & kept running, to bad they don't make car motors simple any more lol
Love them old machines especially when someone's got them back up & running 😁😊😀. Keep up the👍 work👍. stay safe keep warm have fun and whittle to keep your sanity ol greybeard dino ; - ) >
I wish I could be more helpful. I never had to pull the flywheel off this motor so I'm not sure how the coil is set up. Try putting new wires on if possible, that might help.
I'm sorry lmao but did anyone else see the subtitles in the video!? Lol "nigga just imagine ah lady generated or walk went out going up the little motor" omg I pissed myself 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
I am glad we don't wash with gasoline powered Maytag washing machines. I shudder to think what we would happen to the air quality on a Saturday wash day in suburbia if everyone did wash this way. Electric much better

My Grandfather had one mounted on a go kart for us Grand Children.
Cool little motor. Collectors item.
That is SOOOO COOL!! I've never seen a motor like that before.
A first time for me to see one running thanks for sharing
So cool and it runs so well . Old motor vids are great . Really enjoy them . Thanks ~ Butch
I Love these old motor Vids ! Keep 'em coming ! Take Care and Be Safe Bro !
Now that is cool! Never new these existed.
hi there im frank from perth australia do want to seel the motor
sorry frank motor is it for sale autocartech@hotmail.com
I'm sure you know that while the kicker is down, the starter clutch is wearing. You need a screen door spring. Thats a sweet little motor.
Thanks, I'll be sure to add a spring!
Actually its not.. if it is it will make a clicking noise. I have several single and twin maytags plus a washer
now that's just too cool Ken, thanks for showing.
dude that thing is awsome!
My ol-lady says would love doing her washing with this. If she can't being riding her "HOG" this is the next best thing.
You're missing the return spring and cover for the kick start.
I know, I can't seem to find one but I am always looking. This was my Dad's so I don't think he had those parts.
👍👍👍👍👍WOW, very beautiful

There was a hose you attached to the exhaust
It would be pretty cool mounted on a three-wheel bicycle
that spot you put the valve on is actually right where the governor sits
Awesome engine
Thanks for sharing your videos. Daft question. Where's the fuel tank on these?
The whole bottom is the fuel tank, very unique design. Thanks so much for watching.
I have never saw one before, Thanks
Very cool engine
beautiful maytag brazil

I have one but can only get it to run on one cylinder with one spark plug out grounded to the motor, any help. Thanks

So approximately what is the horsepower rating ?
About 5/8 Hp
1937 was the 1st year production of the twin cylinder maytag... not the twenties as you say. Just fyi
Thanks! I had no idea when this engine was made and used. I appreciate the correction.
Pretty cool.
That is cool never new they had gas powered washing machines that's cool man. Now put it on the back of a go cart how fast you think it would go lol.
IS IT NEED FUEL??
you think you can turn it into a belt grinder?
Awesome, Can't you put a alternator on it and charge batteries!
I'm sorry lmao but did anyone else see the subtitles in the video!? Lol "nigga just imagine ah lady generated or walk went out going up the little motor" omg I pissed myself 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤

I wish someone would upload a video of the old Maytag running and just shut the hell up and let the motor do the talking.
Why don't you
