I respect people that preserve the past. Maytag was a great company that prided itself on quality and great engineering. Thanks for sharing and you have a lovely place.
Great video! Maytag has a new Bravos washing machine coming out and it looks really similar to some of the older square models. It's also a TOP LOADER of all things in this day and age, but Maytag says it's capacity is 5 cu ft, larger than the front loaders. I'm wondering if Maytag improved on the front loader technology with this new machine.
I actually saw one like my mom's old machine that we inherited when we bought a very old home. It had a rotating wooden drum inside a metal tub....on and off was simply plug/unplug. We used it for a few yrs before my dad broke down and bought a modern 60's era machine....after it almost electrocuted her!
My parents had a Maytag World's Fair edition washer, harvest gold with fluorescent lamp behind the controls. I was just a kid, and when our family moved, we gave it away. I didn't like that idea at the time, but the new house had a new one. I wish we still had that one. I do have a Maytag Model 72 twin-cylinder Multi-Motor utility engine which I got from an antique shop for about $15 and got it running. It has been a real conversation starter with my shop visitors. Ahh the good old days! :)

The history of washing machines before our eyes! Impressive collection.
Maytag all the way! (Pre Whirlpool buyout of course!)
Excellent! One of the best produced videos I've seen on UA-cam. I really like the washing machines too.

@ufoengines
Thanks. That's very kind of you ... even if it is a bit of an exaggeration.
Almost all of the machines in Lee's museum still work. He refurbishes them before adding them to the floor.
I didn't know wringer washers were made until the 1980s.

Notice all these vintage collectors are getting old. They are a dying breed. Someone needs to step up to the plate
They went down hill when it goes to washing machines. I mean my washing machine won't turn butter and frankly I'm getting pissed off.
@MissPickletoes What a shocker! xD
Maytag is made by Whirlpool these days.
hey billinghurst the English final suks
My God those machines are ugly.
To a mechanical engineer, they are beautiful.
