    I was a competitive eater back in the day Warning to all viewers, talk to a cardiologist about this kind of eating ! There are hidden heath concerns in cycling that much food through your system regularly, once and awhile maybe , but doing it for years is not as harmless as is seems , even if you stay in shape !

    I’ve been working on my weight loss journey for several years (100+ lbs gone and counting! 🙌🏻) The best two pieces of advice I have ever gotten was to not “reward” myself with food. You reward a dog with a treat, not a person. And also, for weight loss, to expect to need to eat “on-plan” 90% of the time and make other choices 10% of the time. Because life happens. It’s all about mindset and consistency. Definitely trying that oatmeal mixture! Yum!

      Yes, food isn't a reward and just because you worked out doesn't mean you "deserve" that cheesecake. "Deserve" has got nothing to do with it. As an adult, if you want a piece of cake, have it and own it. If you want to be healthier, do that. If you want to exercise do that. 90/10 is a good rule, I'm more 80/20 myself!

    If you want to eat like she does when she has her challenges, the ONLY way to remain even somewhat lean is to be in a caloric deficit all the other days of the week. Even Katina has put on a little bit of weight since beginning this channel because some of her videos contain an insane amount of calories. There is no way she wouldn't gain some weight unless she wasn't eating at all the other days of the week. When she speaks about self-control, she is right! This would be a very difficult lifestyle to lead eating-wise and can very easily tip the scale into an eating disorder if you are not careful. Definitely not for everyone. Katina, thank you for showing the other side and please continue to be transparent with your followers. Love from England!

      :) I also used to train martial arts (for around 11 years) and was competing as well. Back then it was so easy to maintain my weight because I was quite active. I could eat a dozen pancakes for dessert and still be hungry. Nowadays I barely eat but the calories are piling up I guess because of my sedentary lifestyle...and I also can't eat as much either....that being said, she is truly a beast ...I don't know what she does other than her youtube channel but my first quess was that she was in the military or something like that :D

      How is 16-18k calories a week self control tho im legit curious and those portions how is that self control

    • @jtenorj
      @jtenorj 9 місяців тому

      @@DannyBashy Without going back and watching the whole video, it's like this:
      Suggested calorie intake for moderately active adult women and men is like 2000-2500 calories.
      Now, Katina likes to takes long walks pretty much every day, which is more than what some people do. So there's your moderate activity. In addition, she also goes to the gym to work out 5 times a week(a lot of people go 3-4 times per week). So that is above an beyond. If trying to maintain(not lose or gain) this level of activity might require a calorie intake closer to that of a moderately active man(2500 calories per day versus 2K for women). Over the course of a week, that's 17,500 calories(between 16k and 18k, but closer to 18k).
      Once a week, she may take on a massive eating challenge and blow a huge amount of her calorie budget in one meal(11K calories, leaving 7K left for the rest of the week).
      She says the amount of food like prepared in this video amount to about 1000 calories, and that's about all she consumes in a typical day(so the other 7000 calories left).
      When you look at it like that(typical meals most days, plus all the exercise versus a major splurge like once a week) it actually adds up pretty well.

    you will probably not know how much I appreciated this video. I am an ex offensive lineman and really struggle with my weight. I'm active and I workout but have a real problem with quantity control and even though I don't do food challenges I eat sometimes like I am doing a food challenge. I've tried programs and they say drop your calories and give you these almost undoable recipes that take up most of the day to prepare. Also trying to be organic, though I know is healthier, is not NOT affordable. I am really going to try this huge salad thing, and track calories by the week instead of just daily. I love salad but never thought of dropping in a can of chili (I'll have to check the calories on that). Again, thanks for putting this out, it will really help a guy like me. I totally concur with the massive salad for lunch.....I've been doing the massive salad thing for years I was a bit chubby as a teenager then I got into weight lifting and working out and I still do to this day years later. Typically I do about a pound and a half salad usually kicking in either salmon or tuna sometimes meat from the night before I make extra steak or whatever that's lean chicken. Eat this wrapped up in a low carb Joseph pita wrap face eating it easier than I eat the rest. Later on the day I'll have a regular type meal which is pound or so of vegetables usually steamed like broccoli or asparagus and generally a 3/4 of pound of meat. If I get cravings in between I'll have like three or four saltine crackers with a little bit of peanut butter. Protein shake in the morning. Regarding the salad it really does make a difference. Plus you can mix up your ingredients to keep it from getting boring

    Something you might consider, is replacing the lettuce with cabbage. The texture and flavor of cabbage is more durable, it will last longer in the fridge and in the bowl. I do something similar where I make things easy on myself by buying a bag of pre-chop, but switched to cabbage since it's more pleasing to me.
