+lupinearsenalALT the sensors are more than capable of 4k, its just the chipset are not. although the 5dmk3 with magic lantern 1080p raw is still one of the best cameras out there for video, albeit no thanks to canon (thanks to magic lantern) and the dslrs unlike the c100 ect use pixel binning instead of downsampling, which is why you get bad aliasing and moire on canon

Sweet man. Looking to get the G7, this was very helpful. Biggest reason for the change from the a5100 is the audio input jack....tried to do the external audio recording and I hate it, makes the process not fun and streamlined for me. Oh, thanks for the sub, hope you enjoy our stuff.
dude, i have done the exact same thing you have just done! But not for the audio, the damn overheating issue! FUCK SONY! 10 mins max recording? fuck I hated that camera
You talk facts and give real information. Most channels give opinions with loose information with no real credibility and for someone who owns a video business and want to give my best for my clients this kind of review is incredible and helps me grow as well as my business! Truly phenomenal!
The G7 might be the camera to finally make me upgrade my T5i. Been using it forever now and it's not bad at all but all that in such a cheap package is pretty tempting.
+chaseontwowheels I second that. I own a Nikon D5100 and I'm looking at this G7. Muuuch better video, good enough photos, smaller, seems like a great package.
I purchased his guide for the G7 a couple days ago and I'm happy that I did. He gives some awesome tips on the best equipment to buy for a REALLY cheap price tag and also takes you through setting up the camera and demonstrating a mock shoot. I've seen other guides for free, but I prefer Caleb's no nonsense approach and the way he organizes it all. Overall, I feel I got much more value out of this one for less than $20.
We got the Panasonic G7 with the 14-140mm lens for vlogging and travel videos. It's a fantastic camera for the price. The lens was a good choice because of the range you have. I got some awesome shots of boats from being on a ferry and I would have never got them if I chose a different lens. We just posted our first ever vlog if anyone wants to see a more "real world" use for the camera. The autofocus was hit and miss though as I only purchased the camera before we left and I hadn't nailed the settings yet.
This really bugs me with my GH2. The frame rate of computer monitors, the web etc is largely 60 fps but I'm stuck on PAL frame rates whereas Canon cameras can switch just in the menu.
Does somebody know, wich Model of a focal reducer he recomments in his guide. I don't want to pay 20€ for this small info. I would really apreciate it.
This is the comparison I was waiting for, I've noticed UA-cam has recently added support for 4k, do you think the UHD standard will have much of a place moving forward or will it be skipped over for true 4K?
+RockstarLittle I think 4K youtube uploading isn't worth it right now. Great if you have an amazing film that you want to show off in 4K, but with most people watching short videos on phones and tablets, I think 1080 is still king for web content right now.
Thanks Caleb. Great review. Your video helped me decide. I just bought a G7 and started filming with it today. Question, the flip out LCD screen goes black about 30 seconds to a minute after I start recording. I have it flipped out facing forward to frame my shots. I move around quite a bit while filming. I couldn’t find any setting in the menu having to do with screen blackout. Is this normal? Is there a setting I need to change? Is my camera a dud?
Hey Caleb, Thank you for providing a comprehensive review of both products. As you can already tell I'm commenting nearly 5 years after this video was created. Yet I wanted to know if you still view the G7 as a great buy for a Budget Filmmaker? If so, or not haha, what camera(s) would you recommend or are comparable performance and price-wise? Hope you're staying well and healthy during this unprecedented time!
I just bought the online guide for the G7 & it destroys any free tutorial that I saw on UA-cam. It is totally worth the money & it provides a step by step process that anyone could follow, especially if you're new to the game. You know your stuff, buddy.
Hi Caleb thanks for great video. Quick question here. For starting video blogger do you recommend G7 over G85? I can reach this extra 400$ but may be I can use it in extra items (lens, led light). Videos I will be shooting is similar to Casey Neistat style.
+Raymund Morgia the A600 doesn't support external audio, Canon committed suicide in the video market for anything less than $5k but there are other cameras to check out and examine. But the G7 is good
Hey Caleb! Is the G7 guide still on pre-order or can we get it now? I'm going in a trip in the next two weeks with my brand new G7! If it's on pre-order, will we get it within the next two weeks?
Hey Caleb! Probably you're not going to respond to this comment in a couple of weeks because I read on twitter that you are finally having your baby!! Congratulations on that!! I live in Spain and if I was to buy the G7 I would have to use the PAL setting in the camera but that gives m only 50fps at 1080p instead of 60fps as on the NTSC setting. Could I change to the NTSC setting although Im living in Europe? Does it have any consequences? Because I really don't know. Thanks for the review and keep up with the awesome content Caleb!
Hello Caleb, great guide, i just loved it, really easy to master the amazing g7, just a question i am hoping you can respond due your experience in the field, does the g7 record clean footage to an external recorder, and if does will it be 8 bit 4.2.2 or 8 bit 4.2.0 thanks again and keep making great videos.
Caleb! Does the GH4 truly record for longer than 29:59 continuous? With my 5Diii into a Ninja 2 I can achieve this, but with one HUGE caveat: you have to do "something" to the display before the 29:59 mark or the camera will still shut down. The "something" could be pressing the "info" button, and cycling through the histogram, etc. No biggie if you have a designated operator, but for "set up and let it go" one-man-band shooting, it fails miserably. If I were to use the GH4 as a live streaming camera, and want the sensor to continuously pump output to the HDMI for an hour or more, without touching the camera, is this possible?
hello Caleb. I've got my g7 hooked up to the atoms ninja flame..and I cannot figure out how to totally clear the g7 display so the atoms records a clean video without any icons. I've cleared the display yet something always shows up, be it the t icon or the four brackets, etc. is there a quick fix option on the g7 itself? thanks
Great work as usual, Caleb! Curious how you think the G7 would pair as a B-Cam to the Sony A7s? Any experience cutting the two together? (I know you mentioned working with both the GH4 and A7s on a music video previously.) Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Door Eleven Productions It can work. There are two difficulties... First, shooting with a 4K camera and a 1080p camera can be tough since one will look sharper (if downscaling the 4K to 1080). This can be fixed somewhat by keeping the sharpness on the 4K cam waaaaay down and maybe sharpening the 1080 cam in post a little. The other is color. Having a Datacolor card or something like that is HUGE. Get it in at least one shot for each scene on each camera and you'll be able to match the cameras easier.
Another epic review ***** thank you! Have you shot enough footage yet to recognise a difference in quality of 1080p out of this cam compared to the GH4? Cheers, Joel.
If you mount the Panasonic G7 on a pro video tripod or a video rig you are going to need this Liberator plate. This plate allow you to access the battery and memory card any time Check it out here: bit.ly/1UI4rsg
+HamDerDanskeren Yes it would, at least for video. The g7 does much better in low light. Editing for the gh4 is more flexible though. I think I am going to buy a g7 for video and keep my Sony a7 for photos and for video where I need shallow dof and good low light.
I would have gone with the a7s2 instead of the gh4, but the price is just too high and there is not really a huge used marked of those. And i already have a bunch of m43 lenses.
HamDerDanskeren Yeah if I shot just video the a7s ii would be my choice too. Many people buy the a7 series but just not many lenses yet. I am sure that will change. I just adapt a mount lenses.
Thank you so much for these videos Caleb. Ive been following for a few years now. Anyways I was curious if I can monitor the footage with an external field monitor while recording internally with the G7? Thanks again.
Does a speedbooster really give you more shallow depth of field? I was under the impression that while it increases light/aperture it doesn't affect DOF.
***** Hey Caleb. I'm thinking about to upgrade from the Gh3 to the G7. I shoot mainly music videos and festivals so I always shoot in 50p. And my question is: Is it worth it to upgrade? Or is the Gh3 better in slowmo with it 50p 50mbit than the G7 with it 50p 28mbit?
Awesome video. Just what I was looking for. What about the bitrate? Is the lower bitrate of the g7 a problem or is the codec just as good that it does not realy matter?
Hi Caleb, I just got gx80 and I am wondering is it worth buying your g85 guide, will I still benefit of it with the gx80. I decided to spend leas on a camera to begin with and then upgrade if needed. Thanks.
He Caleb, thanx for the great video. Is the G7 dust free? I am only going to use the camera for green screen footage. Therefore i think i will be fine with a G7 + a kit lens 14-42mm. My only worry is the body of the G7. I am afraid it will give me problems after a few years. Do you think this camera will hold for 3 years or so? Cause by then, techniques have been changed so much again that i would probably buy a new camera :-) Thanx in front.
I now have every intention of purchasing a G7 and consider your guide a necessity. Does it suggest a reasonably priced Ultra Wide Angle I can use for video. I currently shoot stills with a 7D and 10-22 lens (16-35). I really enjoy your videos .
For black Friday since everything is going on sale. You recommend getting the 14-42 lens but buying the alternative lens? What are those so I can hurry and get them while it's on sale and the adaptor? (btw putting this on my Christmas list so lol I'm not paying for these so I'm trying to find the ones better for the buck)
Caleb, Ive set my G7 to NATURAL, reducing Contrast, Noise Reduction and Sharpness to -5. I have seen where people also set Saturation to -5 as well. You do not on your G7 tutorial. What is your reason for leaving Saturation where it is at? Thank you.
Saturation keeps skin tones natural. Noise Reduction and sharpening in camera are awful, so that's a given... do that in post. Too bunch contrast in low light isn't good. Saturation turned up in post doesn't look good and will make skin tones look gross.
Yeah I've researched into the A6000 and A6300 and the overheating makes it way risky imo. The A6300 has less overheating problems I believe, but it still overheats. Edit: Here's an article about the overheating problems. Even with the firmware update it still has 4K video problems. www.digitaltrends.com/photography/sony-a6300-overheating-firmware/
What are your thoughts about the fact that the G7 is not weather sealed if I am going to be using it in humid south Florida. Is this going to be a bad choice for the humid climate?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I have a 700d and I am thinking about the G7.... Is it that better? I am just learning how to use the 700D right...
Thanks Caleb, another great video here. I think I'm sold. Not going to abandon my canon just yet but for sure it's on the list when I get ready to upgrade. I will be looking into the g7 when that time comes.
Hi Caleb. I have a question for you not about the G7 but about the G85. Many are complaining that the noise made by the internal IBIS is loud and is picked up by the internal mic and external mics like the RODE videomic pro, micro. Is there a solution to this?
Great video. I have a question for you. You said that you can recommend a speed booster plus a lens for just under $120. Does that speedster and lens also work on the GH4?
Great video. Question for you. I am thinking about getting the GH4 body only. You mentioned that in your guide you said that you recommend a lens and inexpensive speed booster for $120. Will that lens and speed booster also fit the GH4?
So I bought your G7 Guide and have found it useful thus far. Question about audio though. I have a Rode Video Mic Pro which I plan to connect directly to the camera. In the sound menu of the G7, the default is at 0db. Do I need to set it to a lower default (i.e. -6 or -12db)? The Rode Video Pro mic itself has 3 settings, -10db, 0, and +20db. What would be the typical set up in conjunction with the camera setting. Please note I have no plans to use a preamp(juiced link, etc.). Besides, I have an external audio recorder(zoom h5) and mic which I'll make use of on more complex shoots. Thanks.
Is the HDMI out to 8 bit 4:2:2 any useful on the G7? Is that 8 bit 4: 2: 2 that much better for grading? Also, would you buy exclusively mft lenses or would you use full frame lenses with a focal reducer ( for me it'd be Roxsen).
I'm looking into buying the G7 camera for videography purposes ...and mainly because it falls in my budget and the GH4 doesn't. My question is: What lenses would you recommend for this camera? The one I'm interested in purchasing comes with 14-144 mm lens kit.
I'm still thinking about which to choose for making short film 1) Panasonic Lumix G7 and 1 good lens 2) Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 (bridge camera) If you have free time please give me some advices, and if the Panasonic Lumix G7 is better then which lens should i buy. thank you
Nice review - question. I've seen a comparison of the GH4 and the FZ1000K with a fixed lens - what do you think of those two - My main interest is 4k photo mode due to shakiness due to medical issues and isn't the kit lens on the G7 AF? Sounds like it may not be? Thanks, Rich M
Hi Caleb, is there's any way to use EV compensation in Movie Mode in Full Manual? In P A and S mode I can set EV+ or - but in Manual mode it's grayed out which seems backwards to me. Am I missing some arcane Menu item? Thanks for the help
Very helpful video but I would like your opinion. If 4K was not a top priority, would it be worth buying a GH3 instead of the G7 for it's headphone jack, better battery life and weather sealed body?
So I am starting to get into travel filming. So I am a complete beginner. As of right now I have the CANON T3i which completely sucks in low light and I also understand that the world is going to 4K. Do you recommend that I get the G7 for starting out my travel filming career?
Would you recommend A6300 or G7 for a beginner camera. I want to do video and some photos but don't want to sell it in a couple years just to buy a better camera :) Thanks
Ok, I have a question. I currently shoot on the Sony A65, It's been great to me in essence and I've loved it so far, but due to relative cheapness of the A7 right know ($1099 with Kit Lens on Ebay Brand New) I was thinking of getting that for my upgrade. Main reason's Full frame, More auto focus points, More dynamic Range, Larger ISO range, Mic level's, Headphone jack, Etc. Or should I do the Panasonic lumix g7, mostly for the 4K capability. Though truth be told my customers haven't asked for video in that range as yet but i'm sure were just a year of 2 off. So what do you think A7 or Panasonic lumix g7.
Hi Caleb, I am a beginning film maker, I have never owned a camera. After a lot of research and some of your very helpful videos Im pretty sure the G7 is where I should start. However I do not have a computer than can even hope to process 4k. So my question is, am I able to downsize the quality to 1080p and be able to edit footage without spending too much on computer hardware/software? OR am I better off shooting for a lower quality camera for now? Thank you
+adsymonic Tough one. I would probably go with the G7 with a focal reducer. That said, 70D is a great setup out of the box and will have better stills quality.
+DSLR Video Shooter Thanks for your reply. For the D70 in terms of lenses I found a Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 IS and a Tokina 11-20mm 2.8 to be fitting. What would you suggest for the G7?
I keep bouncing back and forth between going with a speedbooster and the Sigma 18-35 F1.8 or that 12-35 F2.8. Do you own the Panasonic 12-35 F2.8? Would you possibly do a video about it in the future? Or maybe even about choosing between the two setups for shooting video? I see a lot of people asking the same question on forums without much of an answer as it doesn't seem like the 12-35 F2.8 is as common. I can't decide if the OIS, AF and lower price make it the better option. I am mostly shooting indoors and in small spaces so I need extra FOV over what I can get from the 14-42 kit. However, having more light would also be better obviously. They are both better than the 14-42 F3.5 but the Sigma would be much better. For doing focus pulls I think the AF and the touch screen are a good match. Still it seems like the Speedbooster + 18-35 is the most recommended combo for shooting video on mirrorless.
I don't own the lens but I have used it (12-35) and really dig it. I would base your decision on low light and great DOF (Sigma) vs Small lens package and great stabilization (12-35).
if i had to make a choice between a 4k camera with regular lens and an excellent lens with a full hd camera which one is wiser choice for the time being?
The G6 even WITH NR TURNED OFF - looked cleaner but it also looked like NR was still applied and water colorish and the bit rate suffered at high isos - wondering if that's what going on with the G7's iso "performance" and it's hard to tell with blank grey card for iso tests.
Hi Caleb, have you ever repaced the lcd monitor on a gh4 before? It has been damaged by water, difficult to find info online for this topic. Thanks in advance i really need some help on this and you the man
With a speed booster you'll gain an extra stop of light and you will have a wider field of view without distortion. So as an example, if you have an APS-C sensor (like the Canon 70D) a 50mm F1.4 will have the more light so as to act more like a F0.4 lens. Pretty cool! AND that APS-C sensor will have the field of view or framing similar to a Full Frame sensor like a 5D mark III.
Is this camera good for vlogger with cinematic shot? I am looking for a camera with at least 50fps, flipped out screen, and microphone jack. Can I grade the color at 1080 60fps?
Hi.!Need some advise here. Is it ok if I'm shooting (cinematic slow-motion) wedding with g7 & which lens is nice to go with it. I'm still new & there is a lot things need to learn. Thanks!
I am buying a new camera for travel. And I am stuck between these two cameras. I will use it with a metabones speedbooster and signs art lenses. Which should I buy? My budget is tells me the g7, but are the extra features on the gh4 worth it for travel?
Hi Caleb, first I want to tell you how much you have been helped me in my gears acquisition and also that you are my inspiration for all my cameras I've boughr from the first one (T2i) till my last g4h and very lastly Olympus m10 ii... that been said, no mather how fantastic are theses tools I want you to tell more about how to use them as mid level prosumer ... also Ive bought your GH4 course but I have no Idea on how to log in again thanks Caleb
Thanks for NOT adding any "music" crap to distract from your presentation.
Canon officially lost the war with DSLR videography. They aren't even bothering to slap on a 4K sensor.
M4/3 is the future of short film.
+lupinearsenalALT meh more aps-c sony sensors even m4/3 most of them all use sony sensor
+lupinearsenalALT the sensors are more than capable of 4k, its just the chipset are not. although the 5dmk3 with magic lantern 1080p raw is still one of the best cameras out there for video, albeit no thanks to canon (thanks to magic lantern)

Yep and the 6d mkii is completely ridiculous with its lack of 4K. What were they thinking.
lupinearsenalALT 1dx shits on every other company, it compares to a red epic for 1/10 of the price. 5d mk5 is fucking gorgoeous. Resolution doesn't mean quality pal.

Luego de usar la G7 estoy enamorado de la camara, el focus, tamaño etc, la uso hace un mes y dio un gran subido a mi canal a nivel de calidad.
How do you get around not being able to change PAL to NTSC or vice versa when you travel a lot?
This really bugs me with my GH2. The frame rate of computer monitors, the web etc is largely 60 fps but I'm stuck on PAL frame rates whereas Canon cameras can switch just in the menu.

Rideable Entertainment I would also like to know this
It's the Viltrox EF-M2. Costs around $120 and performs just like the Metabones, it even fits more snugly on the camera and lens. :)
Thanks alot! This video helped me alot!
I just bought the G7 and 25mm 1.7 brand new for 399€. Not a bad deal. :)
Niklas Please tell us where, I needz to know 😊
It was a black friday deal so unfortunately it's more expensive now. :(
Thomas Bourne $598.00 on amazon.

G85 has inbody stabilization while G7 does not which is pretty important for handheld filming.
Between Lumix G7, Canon 700D and Sony A6000, which is the best for video and filmmaking? and why? Thank you and Thumbs UP!
+Raymund Moria Panavision Panaflex for film Arri Alexa for video. But in all seriousness that is the most vague question I've read in awhile.
+Raymund Morgia Simply I'll say not the 700D :l
+Raymund Morgia
the A600 doesn't support external audio, Canon committed suicide in the video market for anything less than $5k but there are other cameras to check out and examine. But the G7 is good
Thank You already bought it.
I ordered the G7 and a Ride mic with a video led light and a Speedlite... can't wait to get started!
How does the 1080p on the g7 look versus the gh4? I saw gh4 footage and it's gorgeous
Awesome Review, I can't wait to watch your Camera Guide, keep up the great work
my camera (a GH1) costed me $100, got the micro 4/3 lens mount and still shoots video in higher res than most canon and nikon dslr's of $500+
Hey Caleb! Is the G7 guide still on pre-order or can we get it now? I'm going in a trip in the next two weeks with my brand new G7! If it's on pre-order, will we get it within the next two weeks?

Nice Review, but would you pick the G7 over the 5D Mk3 for Music video uses?
+FlashOneFilms Would depend on my budget.
does these two camera use the same lenses? As well as with the GH5?

+Drift Productions Not enough at 1080 no. But again, shooting 1080 on these 4K cameras doesn't make much sense when you compare the quality.
+DSLR Video Shooter Cheers for the feedback.
If you mount the Panasonic G7 on a pro video tripod or a video rig you are going to need this Liberator plate. This plate allow you to access the battery and memory card any time

PLEASE ANSWER: Would the G7 be a good alternative to the GH4? Im upgrading from a GH2 and have looked at the GH4, but its a little too pricy
+HamDerDanskeren Yes it would, at least for video. The g7 does much better in low light. Editing for the gh4 is more flexible though. I think I am going to buy a g7 for video and keep my Sony a7 for photos and for video where I need shallow dof and good low light.
I reconsidered xD i think the longer battery-life, live hdmi output, v-log, live-audio, metal-body of the GH4 is well worth the extra price!
HamDerDanskeren Yeah it all really depends on ones needs haha I want the a7rii since I do photo and video but it's too damn much haha...for now
I would have gone with the a7s2 instead of the gh4, but the price is just too high and there is not really a huge used marked of those.
Bro, you rock. I've been watching your videos and they are extremely helpful.
Still rocking with my Rebel. Gonna use the T2i until it dies.
Lilreeces10 did u have to install Magic lantern to get sharp footage?
i find my t3i without ML is not the best, image is soft and blurry at times
The Kalf yeah I just upgraded to a g7 from a t3i. I haven’t touched the Canon in some time now. Check out my work on my channel.
for video and low light video , which is better . The Sony a6000 or the Panasonic g7 ? Which has better in lens I.S . Thanks .
Does a speedbooster really give you more shallow depth of field? I was under the impression that while it increases light/aperture it doesn't affect DOF.
Hi I'd like to talk about camcoders. Should I invest in one? I am going for sony HDR as100.
***** At 1080 the bit rate is lower than the GH4 but at 4K we still have 100.
Hmm I guess I have to compare how far I can push each one.
I am not really into 4k with 24p (yet) as I prefer a higher framerate.
Thanks anyways :)
Thanks Scott!
Great video, should we use the 16-255 setting on the G7 instead of 0-255?
Would you recommend the G7 over the Sony A6300 in terms of image quality and usability?
Sony a6300 is better
image quality sony wins small
usability panasonic wins big
+MichaelTapl why "Sony can't shoot videos"?
Firmware update apparently resolved that issue
Yeah I've researched into the A6000 and A6300 and the overheating makes it way risky imo. The A6300 has less overheating problems I believe, but it still overheats.
Edit: Here's an article about the overheating problems. Even with the firmware update it still has 4K video problems.

What are your thoughts about the fact that the G7 is not weather sealed if I am going to be using it in humid south Florida. Is this going to be a bad choice for the humid climate?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I have a 700d and I am thinking about the G7....
English Learner of course bro yiu should learn more before getting a camera of 1000 dollars. It is a Micro four thirds mount, here you are.
Thanks.
Bro Please Make A Video On Which Camera To Buy.
1.Lumix G7.
2.Lumix G85.
3.Canon Eos M50 Iam Suffering Here
THANK YOU, Caleb! Getting ready for a trip and this is useful information!
What lenses should be the first to buy?
I'm still thinking about which to choose for making short film
1) Panasonic Lumix G7 and 1 good lens
2) Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 (bridge camera)
If you have free time please give me some advices, and if the Panasonic Lumix G7 is better then which lens should i buy. thank you
Nice review - question. I've seen a comparison of the GH4 and the FZ1000K with a fixed lens - what do you think of those two - My main interest is 4k photo mode due to shakiness due to medical issues and isn't the kit lens on the G7 AF? Sounds like it may not be?
Thanks,
Rich M
+uswrdm02 Either would work. Personally I don't care much for fixed lenses. There are two many great lenses out there to be stuck with only one!
Hi Caleb, is there's any way to use EV compensation in Movie Mode in Full Manual? In P A and S mode I can set EV+ or - but in Manual mode it's grayed out which seems backwards to me. Am I missing some arcane Menu item? Thanks for the help
Please review the GX8! im confused on whether to get the GX8 or GH4? thanks :)
thank you, great vid, very informative, shooting our first indy tomorrow with the G7, very excited!
Very helpful video but I would like your opinion. If 4K was not a top priority, would it be worth buying a GH3 instead of the G7 for it's headphone jack, better battery life and weather sealed body?
+Carl Harwatt Yes.
So I am starting to get into travel filming. So I am a complete beginner. As of right now I have the CANON T3i which completely sucks in low light and I also understand that the world is going to 4K. Do you recommend that I get the G7 for starting out my travel filming career?
Hi. Nice Clip.
Has the G7 the V-log Profil? And what ist the max. Bitrate?
Thx
Der Filmfuzzi No V-Log, bitrates vary, but you get 100 at 4K.
Thx
Would you recommend A6300 or G7 for a beginner camera. I want to do video and some photos but don't want to sell it in a couple years just to buy a better camera :) Thanks
I currently have a Nikon D3400, will the G7 be a better option for video?
Please review the Panasonic GX8 please!
G7 vs 70D (or even 80D) which one do you like for a DSLR shooter more?
Hi Caleb, I am a beginning film maker, I have never owned a camera. After a lot of research and some of your very helpful videos Im pretty sure the G7 is where I should start. However I do not have a computer than can even hope to process 4k. So my question is, am I able to downsize the quality to 1080p and be able to edit footage without spending too much on computer hardware/software? OR am I better off shooting for a lower quality camera for now? Thank you
Hey, I'm looking for a camera mainly for filmmaking. My top candidates are the Canon 70D and the new Panasonic G7. Which one would you choose?
+adsymonic Tough one. I would probably go with the G7 with a focal reducer. That said, 70D is a great setup out of the box and will have better stills quality.
+DSLR Video Shooter Thanks for your reply. For the D70 in terms of lenses I found a Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 IS and a Tokina 11-20mm 2.8 to be fitting. What would you suggest for the G7?
Hi, Thanks for this... Does the g7 take the same batteries and lenses as the GH4?
Awesome video.
What adapter do you recommend to use Canon EF lenses?
Thanks!
I would base your decision on low light and great DOF (Sigma) vs Small lens package and great stabilization (12-35).
thanks bro... so which one should i get, G7 or 70D?
+Gun Gun Gumilar If it was me, I'd get the G7 with a cheap focal reducer.
Hello ready to take the plunge and go mirrorless for shooting video please advise on which is better. Fuji, Sony, Panasonic confused!?
if i had to make a choice between a 4k camera with regular lens and an excellent lens with a full hd camera which one is wiser choice for the time being?
I believe there are two more years where 4k is option rather than mandatory.
The G6 even WITH NR TURNED OFF - looked cleaner but it also looked like NR was still applied and water colorish and the bit rate suffered at high isos - wondering if that's what going on with the G7's iso "performance" and it's hard to tell with blank grey card for iso tests.
Is the G7 still worth it vs the Canon M50?... I'm leaning towards the G7 for the price, but not sure if I should spend the bit of extra for the M50.
Hi Caleb, have you ever repaced the lcd monitor on a gh4 before? It has been damaged by water, difficult to find info online for this topic. Thanks in advance i really need some help on this and you the man
I'm going to watch the video Have a happy time
What's the difference between a speed booster and a cheap lens mount adapter you can get on Amazon?
I've been wondering the same thing.
Ah thanks. That's why I hate my Nikon lens adapter for my GH3. Crops my footage big time.
+DSLR Video Shooter Bruhhh... Tell me that was a typo.
How can you be selling camera guides and have no understanding of how F stops work?
Smh.
Thanks!
good video . With this camera you can make long exposure to pictures of the Milky Way without much noise?
I am buying a new camera for travel. And I am stuck between these two cameras. I will use it with a metabones speedbooster and signs art lenses. Which should I buy? My budget is tells me the g7, but are the extra features on the gh4 worth it for travel?
*sigma
You said forget the both options kit lens for the g7? is the 14-140 f3.5 not worth it?
Hi Caleb,
first I want to tell you how much you have been helped me in my gears acquisition and also that you are my inspiration for all my cameras I've boughr from the first one (T2i) till my last g4h
and very lastly Olympus m10 ii... that been said, no mather how fantastic are theses tools I want you to tell more about how to use them as mid level prosumer
... also Ive bought your GH4 course but I have no Idea on how to log in again
thanks Caleb
What About RAW pictures for stills. is it true the GH4 have more information in the file itself.. if yes, notable?
and...what camera did you use to shoot this video with??
