Way points on your phone could make finding cameras easy.... Great Video, Again!
Why don't you just invest in a backup generator? It's completely automatic and if installed correctly, you never notice the change. They are powerful enough to run your entire property.
Mike,
You are doing what I did for years, putting a band-aid on the power outage problem instead of solving the problem. I live forty miles north of Phoenix,AZ. My power goes out up to nine times a year, mostly in the summer during one of our monsoon storms. Arizona in the summer with no air conditioning, eeeek!
I did the generator thing; it sucked- go out in a pounding thunderstorm and start the generator.
Finally, seven years ago I had a Kohler 20Kw generator installed. I picked the Kohler over the Generac because the housing on the Kholer was better for keeping packrats out of the unit. Now, thirty seconds after my power goes “poof” my generator automatically powers the house; lights, tv, ac and all. Best household decision I’ve ever made.
I’ll bet that you’ll want to find a trustworthy person/family to “check” on your property occasionally. I’m sure there’s times when you’ll want to see for yourself or have that change of pace getaway, still a back plan is quite valuable. Trustworthy is the key!
Get the GPS location when you put the cameras out. Don't forget to write the locations down. As always, great video.
How peaceful it was in the forest. Can you imagine the US when it was just the Indians living here. Virgin forests from the East to the West. I hope you get a few good saw logs as you clean up your forest at home. Nature can be destructive at times. Have you been keeping up w Yellowstone Park? Big crack just happened a few days ago. Today's video was awesome, thanks Mike.👍🚜🙏❤🇺🇸🇺🇸
GOOOOOOOD
MAAAAAAAAWNIN
EVERYONE!!!…Thanks for the review on the Honda & taking us along to WV. Glad you didn’t sustain any major damage to your trees 🌲
Have a Day
HELLOOOO Hunter 😊
Love the portability of the Honda. That said IMO you need a whole home system. Home Depot right now has the Guardian 16,000-Watt Air-Cooled Whole House Generator with Wi-Fi and 200-Amp Transfer Switch LP version for $4247 plus installation. Because you said you do not have NG or LP you would have to spend the $$$ for a LP tank but these units are "Outstanding". About 15 seconds after the power goes out these fire up and the whole home os powered. For a few hundred dollars more you can go to a 18,000-Watt. We installed a 20Kw 8 years ago....one of the best investments we have ever made.
No need to have a wholesome generator.
Mike, that Honda is a great generator. I’ve used one for many years when camping and to keep the freezer and refrigerator going when power goes out….BUT, I live in a somewhat rural area like you and I’m in Michigan, 500 miles north of you. I invested in a natural gas whole house generator. 11000 kw is plenty to start my furnace and run my well pump along with lights, washer, dryer, hot water heater, etc. It was not cheap but I have zero regrets. I highly recommend one. Thank you for so many years of bringing us along with you and your family. 🇺🇸
I have a couple of the same Honda generators you have. I will say they are the best generators I have ever purchased. I owned an electrical contractor business and bought these 20 to 25 years ago and they still start on the first pull every time. They are the best.
In Indiana we had an ice storm that took power out for 7 days. My brother called a store and reserved their last 3 generators that he asked me to go get. Long drive under really bad conditions. He and his father in law kept the 2 5000 watt generators. I ended up with the 3500 watt Coleman. I found out after 6 days it was not enough to run 1 upright freezer. Returned it and got my money back.
I was tempted by the Stihl saw but I did not want another battery platform. I bought the 12 volt 6 inch Milwaukee chain saw. i really like it. Now they have an 18 volt 8 inch.
Sounds like a defective generator. A 3500 watt generator should be putting out about 29 amps of 120v power, more than enough to run a household size freezer.
I have a whole house standby generator and love it! As a matter of fact it was running this morning when an intense line of storms moved through my area in northern Illinois.
Those Honda suitcase generators are very handy. Always a great starting and running unit. They make a external tank that extends run time to 12hrs and full power.
I recommend a propane generac for the cabin that charges a battery bank with inverter. That’s how I run my off grib cabin. The generator charges my batteries in 2 hours of run time.
I will also vouch for the Honda generator, have a pair of them. Quietest on the market. Yes, one can go with the Horrible Freight knockoff, but that is what you will get.
I used your Firestarter for the first time for an outside fire. Holy cow does it work great!! It was the easiest fire I've ever made. I'm going to carry some in my go bags for sure. Great product Mike.
Hi Mike, been watching your channel since the beginning while living in CA. We moved to a small town in southeastern Texas three years ago and bought 16 acres' of land and built our barndo and barn. We are semi off grid, with water well and propane, grid power for now will do solar in a couple of years. Since we are out in the country and experienced the deep freeze in 2021 we decided to install a 24K Generic generator running off a 500 gallon propane tank, plenty of power for a 200amp service.
Good morning Mike have an awesome time around the firepit
hello Morgan family! Glad to see your WV property was spared from significant damage. On the brighter side, at least you’ll have a few less stumps to dig out at home. Have a day!
MIKE, nice editing at the end, syncing pix with music!
You can't go wrong with this small, handy Honda generator. You can power a lot of stuff in your house !
I've got one of these Honda generators. This thing runs like a champ and REALLY sips the gas. We use ours on our unimproved land for powering all manner of power tools. It has never let us down. Sure, it's pricey but extremely well built and super quiet.
We have been using an EU30is bought in 2008 for keeping the house powered & power for a coffee trailer, & it’s never missed a beat!
It does my heart good to hear of your memory challenges that sound so familiar. Misery does love company.
Great video Mike, happy that you got down to W VA and all is well there too. Definitely need to get a set up for your whole house electrical system and work n play shop to keep everyone safe and secure. Those portable generators are great fo on the go demands and a small camp situation and emergency short term for home freezer and refrigerator set up. I really liked mine for taking to a part of the property to use the electrical tools to do any building or repairs. Really enjoyed the video and the game camera footage and that your trees were still standing proud. Stay safe and keep up the good work. Fred. Hello Hunter, hope you're doing great!!
Use a drop pin marker on your phone for the game camera location. 👍
I am with you, I could stand all day out in the woods and not get tired of it!!
Ditto!
I was in construction for years and we had a Honda generators on each of our work trucks and they ran all day long for roto hammers and screw guns. They were a real work horse. Loved them.
Yeah 👍 finally I can buy / afford a product that the Morgan's use an like ❤
I first used one of Honda generator, in the jungle in Malaysia in 1977. Definitely a great machine,
Hi from Aus, great little generator. We have been using the previous model EU2000 for about 5 years as a standby power supply. Great unit and so quiet.
I have the same model bought around the same time, it starts easy on 3 or 4 pulls even at -20C. They are the cats meow for sure.
I have a 3000si that we used on hunting trailer. Now have direct power but save it for emergency. 2 times a year start it to run for 10 minutes. Non ethanol fuel and dead battery but starts on 1st pull. Very cheap on fuel.
I used to run 4 cams in my front yard with salt blocks in a couple of locations. I always kept extra sd cards, so I when I pulled one out, I could put one back in before closing. You were probably doing that and just not showing it. It was making me twitchy and I don't have OCD, I don't think:) Good vid, as usual.
If you have one of the hunting apps like one hunt, you could mark your cameras and tree stands on GPS. I know that feeling. When I get to my property, it's so relaxing.
What a beautiful forest you have there Mike, it defines peacefulness.
Backup Power:
Good: 2,000 Watt inverter generator with extension cords
Better: 7,500-9,500 Watt duel fuel generator with a transfer switch
Best: Battery backed solar power with a "multi-circuit" transfer switch
We have about sixty turkey running around here, in the last week the Tom's have been strutting their stuff to the hens!. I was cutting down some dead trees yesterday and one was completely hollowed out with holes everywhere, I started my first cut when a big black snake came slithering out!, I almost whish I had an adult diaper on!, lolololo!. Morgans good day!.
Can't wait to see one of those West Virginia Deerturkeys ;) 14:30
Reciprocating saw works great for pruning as well and the battery lasts much longer on my Milwaukee.
I have a battery powered dewalt. That is mainly what I use it for. It makes quick work of pruning. It's also great for cutting up even some bigger limbs that come down during storms.
Solar is worth considering. I know you have trees, but you're in the lumber and firwood business. Take a few out and put a few panels up, or just a few on the roof of your cabin. If a 2000 watt generator is going to meet your needs then the solar system you would need is minimal cost, size and effort. I've been powering a whole house and electric cars for 4 years all from solar. Definitely worth looking at.
Those woods remind me of scenes from Band of Brothers. Battle of the Bulge.
A good way to keep track of where you put your cameras is to use a hand held GPS. Simply set a waypoint at each camera location and you will be able to walk straight to them from anywhere in the woods and you won't be attracting the attention of trail cam thieves with orange marking tape. I have used a GPS to find property line markers just by using the angle and distance coordinates from the property survey description.
If there's any phone service you can drop pins on Google maps also.
@@joshb8302 Google maps lets you download an area to your phone so you can use the map offline. Not sure if it would let you drop pins then without phone service.
I’ve had my little Honda generator for years. No regrets buying it.
Mike, my kids got me the GTA 26 for Xmas and it has been great for pruning trees and cutting up limbs to burn. I have the Honda 2200 generator too and it has been flawless. We tend to get ice storms here in NC which can take our power lines. The Honda is perfect for keeping the fringes and freezers cold, plus other small devices. I have a 2019 F150 with the 36 gal tank. It’s nice when you find cheaper gas and can fill up. Lover your channel.. take care.
Great generator...I've got a couple with a few million trouble free hours. Looks like by next year you'll be quite the experience tree feller. Stay safe!
- You’ll eventually get well acquainted with locals who can check on your property.
- High winds are Gods way of saying goodbye to weak and dead trees. Sometimes he goes overboard with hurricanes and tornadoes.
I attend an event with several hundred dry campers and almost all use 1 or 2 Honda 2200.
I use 2.
Oil change every 100 hours.
Mike, should be a 34 gallon tank. Bring your blower and clean off the pine needles from the driveway
James Condon just posted a repair video for this generator/inverter. He demonstrated how strong it is for the size with precision instruments at the end. I recommend his YT channel...
AWP in Kingwood,WV has no shortage of logs
Morning Mike et'all, freezing rain all day today 😨, hopefully the power stays on, luckily I have one of the little generators, timely video....
Pete from Canada 🇨🇦
Hi Pete!
@@davidmorse8432 Morning David...
I use ethanol free in all my engines. I never winterize any of them and all start easily after sitting for months. It's readily available at all stations in premium and some carry it in 87 octane.
Oh! I HIGHLY recommend a Firman 10,000watt tri fuel generator. I run mine off natural gas. Hard wired into my panel and permanently housed outside. Just used it for another 8 hours after the last storm.
Great generator. I have a EU300 I bought at T&M in Zeli.
I bought one those Honda Gen a few months ago and I love it.
Mike, you may think about marking those trail cam trees with fluorescent orange tree marking tape. The deer will never notice, but the trespassers will. Just a thought.
No markings no posted signs that just makes people noisy...after this hunting season he'll know what's up
I was in the fire service and all we used we're Honda generators very quiet and very dependable you made a good choice Mike
I have a whole-house natural gas generator that auto-starts after 30 seconds and then a power transfer switch automatically switches the house over to the generator. When grid power comes back on, then the process switches back to normal grid power without loss of power to the house. Whole system cost about $7,000 approximately 10-12 years ago.
I just bought last year a new 1200 watt generator for $949.00 and the 5500 watt Campbell Hausfield I bought new in 1995 for $385 still works!
The old generator has been through a few hurricanes, a lot of run time! Pensacola
Check out the hutch mountain propane conversion. That’s how we run our Honda 2200. We never had any gas in ours so no need to worry about a gummed up carb.
We used Hondas at work and they always performed flawlessly
I have had that generator for 10 or 15 years maybe. Really great and dependable. Very useful. You will love it.
If you ever have time could you do a little video of comparison between Levi’s generator and your Honda? I’m maybe liking Levi’s Harbor freight one.
We have had one of these for a number of years. We bought for arts festivals around Pittsburgh. Still starts and runs great!
I recently invested in the Anker 767 solar generator which works very well.
We use those generators for work and they are absolutely awesome! They get abused and start on the first pull every time. They will run for 6hrs under a load. It’s like a alarm clock when the generator runs out of gas you know it’s almost time to quit! Great video
Get ONX Mike view your property lines and drop pins on your cams 👊🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💪👍
Thanks Mike For Bringing Us Along On Your Road Trip!!
Much Appreciated!!
Keep Smiling On!!
😀👍👊❤
I was grubbling the other day paying $2.97 a gallon in NW Georgia so now I'm feeling pretty good. 😆
Just a note, I bought mine maybe 14 years ago, I loved it and very quiet at that time it was EU 2000. The price hasn't changed all that much I paid a little over 1000 for it back then.
The generator is very quiet. Good luck with it. Beautiful pictures Mike. I also would enjoy walking around the property like you did. Very peaceful.
At out camp we use propane appliances, the ones that don't require electricity. OR a whole house generator we put ine in last September hasn't run once
Honda makes great generators! I bought a Honda EU2000 in 2007 and it is still running strong. I use it to power the ice fishing house (MN thing) and for remote camping. Have a good evening out there!!
I have had many Honda generators over the years. I have a Honda EU2000i with over a thousand hours on it and still runs like new. I also have a eu2200i, eu6500es, and I do have a harbor freight predator 2000. The predator is a good little unit for the price but its not as quite and I don't expect it to last has long as my Honda's
WOW, that is steep for that generator, I realize it is light weight and portable but I got a 12000 Watt generator for around that same price, with an electric starter
Mike, do you think it might be a good idea to take down any trees around the future cabin site in West Virginia? It seems that we are getting more frequent storms around here, and I wouldn't want one to fall on your new cabin. I was just wondering. Regards, Bill H from Cranberry Township
A little yellow ribbon on the strap of camera helps find cameras
I purchased the Yamaha a few years ago and have loved it. It came with a 30 amp RV OUTLET. Same physical size as your unit.
Good review on the generator
The Hondas are nice machines, I have 2 at work and 1 for home. I use ethanol free for storage and if it's an extended outage I'll use regular gas, then drain out the left over and put ethanol free back in. The Hondas can't handle water in the fuel like briggs and champion. When you put in your home standby, go with a Kohler diesel. You won't beat it for reliability and longevity. Stay away from the Generac! They keep me busy as a generator tech.
I was just looking at the 1000 a few mins before this video popped up. I have a 6000, but i want somethinv a little lighter and more portable. For another $100 I might as well go with the 2200.
mike, you have a real nac for reviewing products, reminds me of wranglerstar back in the day. a lot of us are in the market for similar type items and its hard to find reviewers you can't trust. thanks!
Those Hondas are the best I’ve had one for years. Quick tip for you: make sure to pull the starter cord straight out not angle or it will wear and break, mine did and it’s a pain to change, wish I’d know back when it was new.
So peaceful down there in WV eh.
Like the trail cam pictures
Try tying a piece of surveyor tape on tree , it will be easier to spot in the woods.
I have a 12 kw whole house Generac at my house. It’s 14 years old and in michigan it runs quite often and it’s given me reliable service with no unusual problems. JUST MAKE SURE you change oil every year and air filter and plugs every 40 hours or so.
Just saw your video today for the first time. Honda generators are the best. People always want to compare the cheaper generators to the Hondas and say you can buy 2 for the price of one Honda , which is true but what they do not realize is that their generators of the same size as the 2200i generators have a smaller engine. The predator 2500 and the champion or westing house and pulsar all average between 79cc displacement whereas the the Honda 2200i has a 121cc displacement. That means that on the same size loads there will not be a voltage drop like the other generators will experience. Even the Honda 2000i has a larger engine displacement of 98cc. That is why they cost what they cost.
I would still invest in a solar power bank. I know you have shade all year round but Solar Signature has a 3KW off grid inverter and a 5KW battery you can hook up together on a dolly for portability all for around $2300. It will run your fridge and freezer quietly through the night and you can use the Honda to charge the battery through the inverter as it also has a charger and mppt for solar panels too. Your Honda would charge it completely from 0 to 100% in less than 3 hours. You save on gasoline and the Honda does not have to run all night long. Great property you have and sorry for the damage you have. Here in Texas in the coastal area we are always prepared for stuff like that.
We love our Generac generator. They come in handy. Love that WV property. It’s just beautiful down there. Cool video. 👍❤️
🤯 2 Refrigerators and 3 Freezers powered by this small Honda 2200i? That's impressive considering recommended a whole house generator for that many appliances.
Every time you show the West Virginia property I get that peaceful feeling. Great property.
Your red pine stands need some serious thinning.
Every other row and within the remaining rows. You might check and see if West Virginia offers services of state foresters to land owners.
I already had one out
Love my Honda generators, I have had my eu2200i for several years and discovered an oil leak. Apparently a common problem with this generator. Had it worked on by a respected small engine shop but not Honda certified, leak was not fixed but engine still runs and generates, only leaking oil when engine is turned off. Used it for refrigerators and freezers and remote jobs requiring power tools. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Love the channel flip in fla
In woods that thick to find our trail cams is the tie a survivor tape on 2 trees about 20 feet from the cameras kind of pointing toward the cameras but not straight at them! That way any member can find the cameras easier!
Pictures of the deer with the snow on the ground were pretty cool looking 👍make postcards out of them
Thank you for the video Knoxville TN.
Thanks for sharing this 😊😊😊
Hi Mike, love the videos and watch them all. FYI you have a 36 gallon tank on the grocery getter. Have a day!
The Hondas are the king of generators, but Yamaha, Generac and even the Harbor Freight Predators are reliable and a fraction of the price. Even Ryobi offers one with remote start.
I agree. I bought a new generac 2000 at a flea market a few years ago for a couple hundred dollars. Works great.
Firman is great too
Craftsman makes a good generator
Yamaha's share throne. Same price as Honda. I have a yami, Honda and preditor. For the amount I use them, wish I would have bought all preditors :)
Not at all... They were when honda made them in Japan. Now there china crap. Burned out three within a year. Replacements under Warranty... We were off grid for years.
Good morning, OWTM! You might consider bringing a can of spray paint, maybe orange, to mark your trees so you can find your cameras easily. I'm glad the WVA property had very little damage. There are lots of clean-up in videos in our future from the PA home place. No complaints here. Huge from N.C..❤️
Mike, Get a whole house generator for your Pa. house. In our 1st 8 years, we used the generator for 93 hours, this last year alone it came on for 60 Hours, and most of that time was due to snow & ice storms here in Michigan.
Ours runs on natural gas, however, you can get a propane generator. Getting a generator is like buying an insurance policy.
Also, you do not have to have gasoline stored in the garage. 😷⚾
I’ve had mine Honda since 2002 and it still starts on the first pull. I use synthetic gasoline from Sweden and believe it not it still has the original spark plug.
Yes it was pricey when new but now I know why.
Mike,
The extended run kits (external fuel tank) for those Hondas are very nice, and not that expensive. Nice to not have to fill up every 4-10 hrs depending on your load.
Also installing an hour meter is nice, that way when you only use it a few hours at a time you can keep track.
Regarding the camp, we’ve had good luck wiring ours with everything 120v, and running it off the main inverter and battery bank - using the generator for topping up the batteries. Also this setup allows you to run everything off the generator in case you have battery or inverter issues. I know you were considering 12v lights.
Used my EU2200i a lot last summer to power the aerator pump in our pond. I agree about using ethanol free fuel.
