I tried it, based on your recommendation. My hair started falling out within a couple of weeks of using it. It was without a doubt more than normal shedding. I’m talking clumps in my shower. I have NEVER had this happen with a shampoo before. This was not “some other health issue.” I stopped Monat and the clumps stopped. It was 100% Monat. I now use Olaplex and my hair is very healthy. I also cannot get down with the fact that it’s a predatory MLM with a multitude of ethical issues.

my biggest issue with monat is the way majority of the sellers push it relentlessly and in a rude, demeaning, condescending way on social media. they try to manipulate and bully everyone period, into buying from them, plus i've seen firsthand how as a mlm, they basically steal from sellers and tey lie to desperate people to get them to invest then they make nothing.

I really think MLM's and those who sell are individuals. Not a class of people. I sold it, and personally I hate selling anything to anyone. I barely spoke of it. So I was not a big "Director" and I keep my membership but do not discuss it. Unfortunately, sellers are anxious to get to the top and they push and push-NOT a great way to sell anything, in my opinion.

I worked at a doctors office 5 years ago and a women came in with a greasy red rash on her hair. She developed it after using Monat for three months, sadly her hair fell out. So when people want to say I don’t believe these claims about this product are true, it’s honestly infuriating. I’ve seen first hand how terrifying and painful it was for this women. Worst part she couldn’t sue Monat because they always had a reason and money to postpone the lawsuit. Basically she would go poor trying to sue this horrible company.

I’m only 10 mins in to this video but I have to say, this wasn’t political or caused by haters. I used Monat for a year and the first six months were amazing. I was true believer and even signed up to sell it. Then it got less amazing. My hair was dull and greasy. Then it started to fall out dramatically every time I showered. I still believed in Monat and switched the type I was using. No improvement but I kept pushing with Monat. Then, I saw that others were complaining about hair loss and I finally made the connection. I quit Monat and very quickly my hair stopped falling out and started looking better. It took a LONG time for my hair to recover.

I'll tell you why I think some people find their hair starts falling out after using some Monat products. Their ingredients include a phytoestrogen ("The Red Clover used in Monat is Red Clover extract - a water-based ingredient that is a phytoestrogen often used in herbal and naturopathic preparations") which is good for hair growth PROVIDED YOU DON'T SUFFER HORMONAL IMBALANCES. For example, if you have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) this very often results in higher than normal levels of insulin and testosterone, which converts to estrogen, which means higher estrogen than normal. And some women with PCOS, while they might grow hair in unwanted places, like on their chins, they may also experience thinning and hair loss on their heads. And if you add more estrogen to their systems - which you could be doing using a shampoo containing a phytoestrogen (they mimic estrogen), then that person might experience EVEN MORE hair loss. ON THE OTHER HAND, a menopausal woman who is NOT taking HRT (hormone replacement therapy), might actually benefit from using a Monat product with a phytoestrogen. It's important to pinpoint WHY a person has hair loss in the first place. If it's from too much hair styling and pulling from hairbands, or stress, Monat products might be a perfect solution (provided the person doesn't suffer any allergies to any of their other ingredients). If the hair loss has a hormonal basis, or if the person is overweight and might have insulin resistance or a thyroid issue, be careful recommending Monat products because that person may already have some hormone imbalances which the phytoestrogens in Monat may not help. Anyway, I think until a study is done on what I am saying, take it with a grain of salt. But it's worth considering if you have no other clues as to why the products work for one person, but not for another.

My hairdresser was using it for a year, maybe a little longer, she also sold it to clients that were interested. She literally stopped because of certain things that she had experienced with several of the accusations, including being forced to resign due to not being active on the site. And then she started hearing from her other clients that it was messing with their menstrual cycles, she was skeptical and asked her lead and didn't get an answer to this claim. She asked more questions to that client and the client said that she actually tried not using it one month and she had her period and she did that for some time. That client also had lab work done to rule out other health issues, which none were found. Long story short, my hairdresser stopped using and selling the product. Personally, to each their own, I personally wouldn't use it. But thank you for coming on here and explaining your stance without sounding like you're trying to sell us the product.

Check your estrogen levels. There is a phytoestrogen (estrogen mimicking) in the product which could cause your own estrogen levels to rise. If they were already high before (think possible excessive carbohydrate consumption = high insulin = eventual higher estrogen, or other hormone disruptors like plastics) then add a phytoestrogen to that and you'll have even higher estrogen levels, which can cause hair loss! Phytoestrogens could be helpful to those with lower estrogen on the other hand - think menopausal women who are doing the transition without HRT.

(Aka detox process) I think one of the ingredients that contributed to that was red clover? Well that seemed to happen to my client. I doubt that she’ll ever link the 2 together and I feel like it’s not my place since she’s a former client. Please be careful if your pregnant 🤰 and using this brand.

You cannot state that factual evidence + statistics are "negative energy" hun, while you're at it take a look into how MLMs core value is preying on vulnerable women and robbing $$.

That's a silly statement, as product can only speak for itself when a person shares their results. How on earth would you know to buy a great shampoo if you've never seen the results on somebody? Literally every single product on this planet gets advertised one way,or another.
No need to pretend that MLMs are something that is forced upon a person, you leave at any time. Is it annoying to receive messages and stuff for marketing? Yes, but it's just as annoying as any Instagram or Facebook ad. Taking percentage of the sales is literally how any business works, so there is no robbing anyone. I could never sell stuff this way because I don't like the pushy approach, but this doesn't cloud my judgement of the strategy itself. Y'all get a bit too emotional over this, other than looking at it with a clear mind.

@@vegan_guac I haven't read anything in your comment that would indicate to me that you have any clear understanding of the "strategy" an MLM uses. If you did you would also be able to clearly see that it's not clever, sustainable or a sophosticated design specifically because you're not supposed to rack up debt from working your job. You dont pay to go to work, and you dont leave at the end of the day with nothing. You also aren't demoted from your position just because you didnt sell as much as last month, and MLMs convince you that you are a brand new business owner when in reality you're not. The whole set up is designed to keep you invested. Sure, leave at any time but dont pretend that 98% of people who sign up ultimately walk away in a worse position than when they had started.

Ok…I must be one of the few that has commented that uses Monat and loves it. It’s been a little over a year for me and I don’t sell the product.
MLMs are not for me because of the pay structure but typically I find that their products are actually genuinely good.
Things I’ve learned while using it is that you have to double cleanse! Just as you do when you wash your face…one wash to remove product buildup and once to actually clean the scalp. If it feels greasy you need to wash again until it’s super sudsy.
Your hair will not be super soft and silky after you wash it but that’s because it strips the hair down to it’s natural state and doesn’t put a film over top like other products to that make it feel that way.
In regards to the hair falling out…I will say more hair falls out than when I used to use other products but my hair is much more thick than it used to be.
    My thoughts are that
    1) you are washing your hair much less often so once you finally do wash it there’s bound to be shedding of a hair cycle
    2) you vigorously wash the scalp to clear hair follicles (like you explained in the video)
    3) my hair doesn’t shed hardly at all when I brush or style it…Only when I wash it.
So I think if you are using it correctly than it’s a great product! My hair is so thick, shiny and full.

I also was being pressured at the time by my current stylist and I could tell they were trying to get me into the MLM, so I left that salon. It was shady. BUT, I am not a fan of you Elle, just for the mere fact that in trying to ask questions before booking a trip to Cali to see you for my hair, it was a struggle to get any questions answered before I would fly all the way there. You have a salon, but you do not cater to those who may want to come see you for an expert hair cut and opinion. We are in the dark before we would book a flight and travel. I can never find a good stylist, ever. I have resorted to cutting my own hair for now, albeit I am not the best, but learn a bit each time. I am frustrated because I sometimes cut it wrong and have to deal with it growing back etc...it is very frustrating when for basically my entire life I an never find a stylist who is good and not too expensive, can color and cut, listens to what I say I want, and who stays in the profession and doesn't cancel on me because they left. If yes, you should only use this max 2 times a week otherwise it could really dry out your hair. I made this mistake getting one of my clients to use this and although all her balding grew back her hair was breaking because it was so dry, she was using it every other day. You can surely use a nourishing conditioner, I recommend the new line damage repair bond treatment and masque. Try telling the girl you bought from that you want these products. I started using Monet and found it was making my hair very sticky at the roots. The rep told me it was temporary and to just keep using the product and that my hair was actually clearing itself of buildup. I stopped using it when it was getting bashed and that was a huge mistake. My hair went right back to how it was before I started using it. Thin, snapped off around my chin and couldn’t grow it out. So I went back to monat after a 6 month break and my hair is much healthier, but like I said not perfect. I know it is for me but it might not be for everyone. They said you can’t mix other products in with monat due to the “detox” process but I haven’t found that true for myself. I didn't end up using it more than the samples I was given. It seems like an urban myth along the lines of Devi Curl..(yiu are right, different shampoos affect different hair, differently.) it did not do the things that wen did where it got matted and greasy no matter how much I rinsed! Igot covid in December started shedding massively in January and February and March and April..switched to vegan diet and lowered my stress..by then my bleached over processed hair was grown out about 4 inches. Then I went no poo just water and vinegar sprayed and mild conditioner on ends left in, for a month and a half (May and June) and started using a 5% minoxidil in June July and August during this last year. Just to try it. I have been using olap!ex 3 as a mask and no 6 on the ends. and no heat or sorays this summer...maybe twice..I leave the roots alone. I finally got a mild color of the now 6 inches which was brown n white mixed in september professionally done. Really lifted my skin tone and brightened everything. So just past shoulder length now and feeling and looking better! Trying to get to a mixed Jen Aniston baby lights in the front kind of style.

I'm so glad you shared your thoughts! I've been curious recently as to what happened. I started using their products just over a year ago and I love what they've done for my hair! I absolutely agree with the negative MLM standpoint and I do wish there were other/ better options for purchasing. After a year of seeing the results for myself, I decided to join- mostly to save $ on my purchases- and attempt to make any sales based off my experience with it; however, with all the negative articles and not wanting to come off "salesy" I didn't get far.

I used it for 3 years and did enjoy it for the most part. I think I bought every product they offered. I do think it helped my hair but.........I had been struggling with spotting during my cycle. I had read that some people that were sensitive to some of the ingredients could have that issue. I told myself I would stop using the shampoos for 3 months just as a test and my spotting went away. It's been a year and my issue is MUCH better. It's hard to say if that is a coincidence or not. I do know that it's fun to change up the brands you use so I really don't miss it.

oh and I will say that I still use a few of the styling products. Their curl cream is amazing and I still use that often.

I loved it too but it was too pricy and I’ve looked for a cheaper dupe for years as it made my hair thicker feeling and awesome. Any recommendation on one similar to it? I learned how to emulsify the shampoo from videos and love that technique but can’t find a cheaper shampoo that works as well. I grew up on Avon and Tupperware parties and Thirtyone.

I signed up under a hairdresser to sell Monat because I am not one and thought that would be helpful but sadly she never wanted to be bothered answering questions.....I still love Monat and think it is a great product....agree with a lot you said....customers say they used to run amazing sales/promotions not anymore.

What about you starting your own hair care products, but discovering Monat and saying that there was no reason to start your own because Monat is the best! So you wouldn’t start it. Is that still something you might consider doing?

you lost all credibility the moment you recommended this brand. I don't care if it makes hair falls out or not, it's a pyramide scheme. As a professional on youtube you shouldn't advertise this kind of predatory company...

There is no product causing hair fall out? Bleach does, hair removal cream does, there is a lot which can cause hair falling out I trust my own products only which are homemade.

I find it interesting that you were dismissing the claims of thousands of people because of your own experience. You are identifying the problem as “something else” without ever speaking to them. Not only that, this is a very expensive shampoo. My hair is strong and my shampoo is under 10 dollars. Now don’t get me wrong I’m sure investing in a better quality shampoo is a good idea, but with a world of shampoos why would I choose one with this many lawsuits?

The only reason why you’re justifying Monat’s existence is because you’re profiting from it. Never in a million years I would try Monat after the many many horror stories I’ve heard about it, and even less after trying another MLM product that put me literally in a hospital bed. If there were no other shampoo in the planet I would go with my hair unwashed for the rest of my life. #monatscam #antimlm

Thank you for this video; I signed up as a Monat VIP and have used the products on and off for a while now. Although, I do like the products, I don't use them all the time. I am just wondering if you would ever do a review of WEN products. I go back to WEN every so often when my hair feels really dry and it always helps!
