Just consistency of effort as much as is possible in a young developing list. 5-6 wins was also my tentative benchmark, I feel six wins does show genuine progress being twice as many as the total for 2023 and would provide a sound foundation for 2025. I agree in principle that if we have two players vying for a position with similar form, I would like to see us prioritise the youth a little more, but generally, I feel we have done a reasonable job rotating players through the 22 and giving them opportunities. I also just want to see Clay Hall debut. I've been excited to see him play since we took him in the draft. Really looking forward to seeing him get his jumper. Frankly, I've also just really been enjoying the whole-of-club way they have heen announcing debutants this year. It really feels a lot more like 2018 where it felt like it really was a supportive environment for all involved, not just the footy department.
@@TrueEagleAFL definitely, I do feel it is important to reflect on the past, in order to move forward. Don't forget where we have come from, as we progress to where we desire to be as a club and team.
I reckon Burgiel needs to get a go. It would be fair to him due to his bad luck. I reckon the guys would really get behind him. Fact is that we need to keep the kids.
If we finish with 6 wins and waterman being there or thete abouts in the Coleman race plus a strong showing of Hough, Reid and Ginbey to be finishing high in our Best and Fairest for the year you gotta take that as strong progress. Oh and Oscar to come back and dominate would be the cherry on top
Brockman needs to be back quickly to add class and pressure in the forward half. He's had a wake up call now I hope. Otherwise Rawlinson will need a chance there. I'm not sure how they can use Culley now they have so many midsized half forwards. But someone that is a hard worker and physical like him need to be given games. Hutchinson needs to develop skills at WAFL and be given opportunities in various spots. I reckon as an athlete he can be like Geoff Miles and Jeremy Howe.
Fantastic episode as usual, consistent effort, consecutive quarters won, and winning clearance count and 1% or pressure acts. Winning games will follow naturally
I felt the team seemed tired over the last few games.. lot of clubs coming after us as a must win game.. that’s in my opinion.. lots of mental pressure on us as a team to perform weekly. Other side of the coin is like Sydney who go into a game expecting to win.
Here is thinking outside the square. Get WAFL to issue a 10th licence to South West, Armadale, Avon District based team. And make that team the host team for the Eagles. It would get more young guys into the AFL pathway and help the Eagles too as they would then have a zone, district etc.
I think we need to keep giving games to Bazzo and Hedwards. Its a pity that Bazzo is injured as I think he'd be in the starting 23. But its essential that Hedwards and Jamieson get experience against good forwards. But will the Eagles be satisfied to rest Barrass or McGovern to allow it to happen. Our forwards are top heavy now, so they won't go there.
My concern is that we look tired. Our kids are struggling as they tire. Our older guys are losing the edge too. That is expected with young and old players as the year goes on. Also, I reckon sides have worked out how we are playing now, and they seem to have combatted us with out ball movemnt.
I am sure hall gets a shot, but your point about guys who have gone out and come back in is a very good one. I see the need for sheed mainly if yeo or Kelly are out, otherwise the midfield is super young and needing leadership. What about Ginbey as a running defender? I would like to see that whilst he gets up to speed, because he mostly looks panicky in congestion.
No more of the noodle arm brothers unless everyone else is injured. It’s not a coincidence we have sucked since Gaff was back. We are a chance to finish bottom again with the draw we have left.
Blaming our shocking goal kicking against north on one bloke is pretty rich, we had a lot of confidence out of our win against Richmond was certainly a reason we beat Freo and Melbourne. Then we got humbled and lost that momentum. This break came at the right time and we'll come back fine and should get a few more wins by the end of the season
@@lucasdecle2895 gaff was there for none of it. He offers nothing positive to the side except for being Simmo’s mate and he is keeping one of the younger mids out of the side. He can barely kick 30m now and refuses to buy in to the new style of play.

Well said! I like your last point too - I think Pyke has had an influence here and I like the regular references to the Eagles of the past too

Hoping for a bounce back after the bye

I reckon if Ginbey gets a bit sore, then put him down back. We need to give some of our kids some good defensive skills.
Good call

Fair call on Ginners - I wonder if his development would be quicker if just left in the middle but we shall see
I think we will only get one more win 4 total
I'd be flat with that!
@@TrueEagleAFL same 🥲but after them 2 easy losses idk 🤷♀️
5-6 wins, Burgiel and Hewett to get 1 game each please 🙏
Richmond and North are better in their midfield than we are, so I would expect us to be poor compared to them.
Cont poss isn't just a mids stat but you make a good point
