The guy in red who was sitting in front of the other orb was an Inquisition Psyker. Think of a highly-regulated state-employed telepath. What happened was he was psychically listening to what the two orbs were saying. At the end he was getting possessed by one of the orbs. In WH40k a possessed Psyker is one of the worst things to fight, so the Astartes there killed him before he could be fully possessed.
Those guys are kinda like Cpt. America, but the size of the hulk, clad in a future version of Iron Man's armor. Oh and the guns fire self propelled, mass reactive shells (when they detect enough mass around 'em, as in they've penetrated far enough, they explode). They have rediculous reflexes, enhanced hearing, night vision, fast blood clotting, 2 hearts, 3 lungs (surgically implanted) and other fun stuff such as the ability to spit acid. They are insanely strong and more to the point, reheally hard to kill. But with the frankly silly amount of OP Xenos (aliens) and literal demons dicking around in that universe, they have to be. "They're killin Nazis" well by definition you could consider THE VAST MAJORITY of factions in WARHAMMER different variations Nazis, but that's the fun of it.
