I missed the part where you drilled the mounting hole through the tote. It is easier to drill that hole first then lay the pattern out to the hole than it is to shape the handle then drill the hole. Because that's a pretty deep hole.
Nice job. I just bought a Siegley wooden 22” plane. Almost functional out of the box so Ina much better starting point than your plane. Did you use vinegar to remove rust? Did you have a hard time getting metal plate off the wooden sole? Satisfying to bring vintage tools back to working order. Good for you
What did you use to soak the metal parts in? I just bought one of these and it’s in pretty good shape however it still needs some work before I can start using it.
that plane is not a wooden hand plane, it´s called a transitional hand plane, it was suposed to be a bridge in between wooden hand planes & the new incoming full metal hand planes, you could also put some epoxi in those cracs that youhave on de wood just for stabilizing the wood a bit more by all good job.P.D: you have some more restorations coming with those old metal planes, good luck with them.
Renovación, bien llevada a cabo.
Amazing job! This was very satisfying to watch.
Agreed!
Thank you very much!!

Thanks! Yes I did let them soak in vinegar. You could try some WD-40 to get that unstuck, if you haven't already. Good luck!
What finish did you put on the wood and metal?
Boiled linseed oil

Apple cider vinegar, good luck!
